  1. All Wi-Fi packages are per device (not per person). So having a 2 device plan is essentially the same as 2 people having their own 1 device plan (unless you mean you bought 2 device plans for each of you). You just share a login in the first case and have separate logins in the second case.
  2. It is still cheaper than what I paid for on my last Celebrity cruise. I'm not surprised they may still have cruise planner sales that bring the price down further. Although, logging into my own cruise planner, I see the pricing I'm used to (which is higher than 8). The next cruise where I have an opportunity to buy Wi-Fi isn't until January of 2025 though. IT must not have gotten around to later cruises yet.....
  3. I just did a mock booking for the Ascent (I'm in the US) and the AI mentions basic WiFi. Based on the FAQ 10, I had assumed AI would continue to include only the basic WiFi.
  4. It looks like MCC is the pricing if you purchase pre-cruise in the cruise planner. It’s nice to see prices go down on something for a change.
  5. It depends when you booked. For bookings made since this March, it is truly a non-refundable deposit unless you move it to a new cruise in which case you are out $100 per person in change fees. If you booked before March, you may be able to get back the remainder (minus the $100 per person change fees) back in the form of future cruise credit. You do not start losing more than your deposit until you get the cancellation schedule you reference.
  6. It’s because another opportunity unexpectedly came up that I think is too good to pass up so in our case it’s not all bad. We are trying to weigh all our options to see if we can make it work. Hopefully, you will get your FCC soon.
  7. We might need to cancel a cruise booked under the NRD Policy that was in place last year. We are still well before the cancellation schedule kicks in. I understand there is a $100 per person cancellation fee and that we have to proactively ask for FCC for the rest of the deposit. How long have they been taking to issue the FCC? How quickly can it be applied to another cruise we already have booked? We have final payment coming up on another Celebrity cruise mid-July. If we aren't able to apply it to that cruise, how long is the FCC good for? Does anyone have a link to the actual terms and conditions of this deposit?
  8. Even as a female, I love locks, dams, canals, the workings of ships, etc. so this absolutely was my bucket list cruise and on my list to do again. My husband was the one that was less interested. The itinerary usually includes other interesting ports that the others do enjoy and for those not interested in the canal at all, that day can be a great sea day by the pool or reading or whatever it is they enjoy.
  9. That itinerary likely will be a lower key crowd so probably not a lot different than Celebrity. (Carnival’s more traditional shorter sailings attract more of a party, drinking crowd.) The fast casual food options (things like Guy’s Burger, Blue Iguana, etc.) on Carnival are far superior to Celebrity. And my husband also loves the melting chocolate cake in the MDR. Carnival’s buffet has a lot less variety and the quality of food in general is not great but we still find things to eat. Crew seem to be spread a bit more thin in our experience. They only service staterooms once a day and the servers we had in the MDR covered a lot of tables. I usually enjoy the drinks in the Alchemy Bar but you won’t find a great wine selection. Carnival is significantly cheaper so if you go into looking at the value for what you get, you will have a great time and find things to enjoy. We were pleasantly surprised by a strings duo that played in lounges on the Ecstasy last year who were amazing. Carnival is not usually our choice because we prefer a quieter atmosphere but when the price or itinerary is right, we do book Carnival. A Carnival ship got me to Chichén Itzá last year for very little money.
  10. No, any non-alcohol drinks that are not covered under the classic package aren't covered at all so you pay full price plus gratuity.
  11. That’s not exactly realistic in the MDR.
  12. We were on the Eclipse last month. When we booked, we selected anytime which is what our invoice said and the app in all the days leading up to the cruise. We made reservations for each night through the cruise planner. When we arrived in our stateroom, we had a card indicating we had late seating and the table number we had been assigned. We talked to the hostess handling reservations right away and she was able to fix it for us. We had no further issues the rest of the cruise but it was a pain to stand in line on embarkation day to deal with it. We had something similar happen on the Freedom of the Seas earlier this month. I’m not sure what happens when the reservations get transferred to the ship just before a sailing.
  13. It was Princess ships in the news before this one. And I believe it was a Holland ship before that. It's nothing specific to Celebrity. And if you think about how many cruises sail without any outbreak, you realize it isn't nearly as common as the news may want us to believe. Anytime you put large numbers of people together in a fairly small space (on land or on ships), especially for longer periods of time, there is a risk that illness can be spread.
  14. Unfortunately, no. The Elite happy hour is from a set menu of drinks that don’t include any coffees.
  15. This is what we bought. We do not use a converter because we are using it on electronics that can handle either 110 V or 220 V, like iPhones and MacBooks. Check your devices to see what they can handle. For example, some US hair dryers and curling irons, especially older ones may require a converter.
  16. In the afternoon, no. But they will have an elite breakfast, usually in one of the specialty restaurants where you can enjoy regular coffee or specialty coffees plus a light breakfast.
  17. Yes, I regularly switch between a phone, tablet, and laptop. When you try to log on to the second device, it will ask you if you want to log off the first device (as only one device can be connected at a time).
  18. What I find particularly interesting is that on Facebook, the opposite is true (at least in my experience). The Princess group I am in is by far more toxic than the Celebrity group I am in.
  19. As I have been following this thread, I keep coming back to this question. I have sailed both in the Retreat (Constellation) and most recently in an interior cabin (Eclipse). Yes, you absolutely get more attention in a suite, that was the case for us even when we had a terrible butler. But to be honest, our enjoyment of the cruise was just as high when we sailed in an interior cabin. The key reason is a difference in expectations (plus luck of the draw with some amazing crew on the Eclipse). If you read through threads like this one and other threads that are much more negative, the difference is often a difference in expectations. That's not to say someone can't have bad luck and some things go really wrong on their cruise but aside from those situations, the tone of a review usually goes back to expectations.
  20. It greatly depends on what they have in stock which no one can even guess this far out. But generally, the classic package just includes a handful of standard, pretty cheap reds. If you are used to good red wine, you will be disappointed with the classic offerings. You can always just pay the difference for a better glass of wine (plus gratuity on that difference). Your drink package also gives you a discount on bottles of wine. As to where you can get wine, MDR probably has the most extensive wine list on the ship. I think Cellar Masters has been removed from the Reflection but that also usually has a good wine list. I'm not sure whether there is a good lounge/bar with the elimination of Cellar Masters that has a good wine selection but when you board I would ask at the various bars as their selection sometimes is different.
  21. I was on the Eclipse sailing that ended May 21 and I did see some furniture that was well worn and no longer all that comfortable in some of the public areas but I really didn't notice any other issues. And our interior stateroom was actually in excellent condition (I can't speak to whether we had sheer curtains as that is a bit irrelevant in an interior). That's not to say if I looked harder, I wouldn't find more issues but I definitely wouldn't call the ship sad. I've been on cruise ships in far worse shape.
  22. I have never been able to order more than one drink at a time with a drink package. I have ordered more than one at a time when paying a la carte without an issue. I don't follow how the time of day matters. It's not abuse as long as the drinks qualify under the terms of the drink package and they are generally drinking the drinks they order.
  23. I have not personally experienced this but have read that it really depends on the agreement with the charter company.
  24. The MDR will be open for lunch. We also really enjoyed the Spa Cafe. The Mast Grill is also open although I know reviews on their beef burgers aren’t good, we really like the turkey burger though. For a fee, you can also dine in Sushi on Five and I believe Tuscan Grill was open for a couple sea day lunches.
  25. You don't choose a boarding time as they can't guarantee when boarding will actually start. The time you choose in the app is a wellness check/arrival time.
