Here’s one…. When the ships holding your passport to arrange immigration formalities but you need to complete an immigration form to return to the front desk I’m not saying it’s right but this situation arose with us on our last cruise. Doesn't worry me as I have a copy of my passport details stored on my phone anyway but it was the response I got from the front desk when I pointed out they held my passport so why would I need to add that detail to the form they wanted me to complete and sign

I think you can only apply one of your credits to each friends bookings. I’d be happy to be proven wrong (Ponder this - it would be strange if you could given you can only apply one of your own at a time to a single booking) Now the next question is can multiples friends apply their credits to one persons booking and thus pay it in full? I don’t know the answer to that one

New Crystal - the Good, the Bad and the Indifferent
Stickman1990 replied to claudiaYVR's topic in Crystal
How much are you expecting? I think we can be pretty sure the payout to unsecured creditors (if there is any funds left are secured creditors are paid out) is going to be a partial payment only - pennies on the dollar…. My suggestion would be take the Exceptional offer if it can work for you as it at least provides something - of course you have to book a “new Crystal” cruise to benefit -
and that would be? It would give some confidence in your statement if if was attributed to someone - is there something sensitive about making a clear statement about Bridge on new Crystal? I seriously think there are so many other items that we’d all like to hear about what will be implemented - and communicating that to everyone rather than having these anonymous drip feeds channeled through a guest would be a better strategy
-
Surely they would need to provide your identity in order that the Administrator knows who they are checking? They aren’t going to take your word as to the amount of the debt - they will need to validate it I really can’t see how it can be done without providing that level of detail So when you submitted the claim with NC that didn’t include a release or agreement to the terms of the offer? - one of those being that your claim would be validated
-
There is in fact something for NC to “inform” the Administrators of at this point - they can start the validation of your claim now you’ve lodged it to confirm and quantify the level of debt you have proven and this the amount ie 20% of that total that you could conceivably receive against a future booking that meets the criteria of the Exceptional Initiative
-
I think you’re making this way more complicated than it actually is You won’t inform the administrators - New Crystal will do that when they validate your claim once you apply for it. I don’t see that process taking a long time to complete You can apply for the credit to be applied to an existing booking

Best Covid/cruise travel insurance
Stickman1990 replied to gbenjo's topic in Australia & New Zealand Cruisers
Insure & Go are good and have a cruise specific cover - https://www.insureandgo.com.au Unfortunately they’re currently not offer annual policies -
Can you link to where this is being claimed? I don’t believe it would be the case unless you were required to formally sign something waiving your rights to claim from the Assignee. You have legal rights with them and it’s hard to see where acceptance if an offer from an unrelated party would impact those rights Although I think there was some talk about if you get a credit from Crystal that Moecker could reduce your claim (although I still think the chances of getting much from the Administrators is pretty slim anyway)

I don’t have any info to confirm this or not but are you talking about FCCs that were “bonuses” issued by old Crystal? If so I think it would be very unusual if they were treated as a real debt by the receiver given no payment was made for this bonus element would they really have a dollar value? and if that’s the case there wouldn’t be a valid claim to leverage and certainly it’s hard to see why new Crystal should reimburse those amounts Other things like that component that spring to mind that I’m not expecting reimbursement for are unused Crystal Society benefits like number of cruise milestones for varying levels of OBC’s and sadly even the non refundable deposit component which was applied as a FCC - i detested those when they were first introduced but as it turns out every booking I do now with other lines and new Crystal includes that penalty in the event of cancellation - so it’s not unusual in the industry now I think what new Crystal have done here is pretty generous and not something they had any obligation to do - it’s an unexpected bonus
-
I want to give one important clarification on the use of the Exceptional Initiative option announced by Crystal today (this info is from Crystal so I’m sure of it’s validity) The credit, which has to be used within 2 years, can also be applied to family members and friends if they travel on the same voyage. i.e. if a former passenger has a valid claim of $10,000, he/she can apply $2000 to 5 bookings. So as an example if on the first voyage the clients brings another 4 family members in 2 separate cabins, he can use 3 out of 5 instalments so $6000 in one cruise So maybe it’s not so hard to utilise the 5 bookings - share the love with friends and family!

Another thing for someone to ask Crystal about…

How the New Crystal is treating Old Crystal loyalists

Or the "international standard" for email interchange between vendors - X.400 and X.25 for transport - before TCP/IP and the internet prevailed - shades of the Beta v VHS wars I remember achieving success when we were able to exchange emails between DEC and Data General systems - oh how things have progressed -

Ha - were just “all inclusive” drinkers so never bother with the wine list - just let them know the styles you like and they’ll give you some options We really enjoyed the included wines as well - lots of varieties and good level of quality As diverse as any we’ve encountered and the servers were more than happy to locate a bottle of our favourites when they weren’t immediately available in a restaurant

Food/Drink - What To Eat and Drink - What to Avoid?
Stickman1990 replied to Strumdatjag's topic in Silversea
Do NOT avoid the hamburger - they’re great and you’d be missing out We found the food and wine - and service - on Silver Muse last month excellent (our comparisons are with Crystal and Regent) Definitely fans of Spaccanapoli for pizza lunch and Indochine for Asian dinners What sort of food do you like - particular styles or cuisines? There’s another thread where someone asked about recent menus from the restaurants - might be worth checking that one out too -
Here’s a few from the Muse last month I just realised how few of the menus I actually copied but I have a ton of photos of the dishes we enjoyed. We really did enjoy the range of food onboard at all the restaurants The Grill The fantastic Pizza restaurant Spaccanapoli Indochine - one of our favourites and the menu changes every 3-4 days Silver Note
