  1. Many thanks for your responses - it seems as if it may not be as bad as I feared. Going to go ahead and bookšŸ˜€
  2. Iā€™m thinking of booking Viking Homelands in May (18th) 2025 and would be very grateful if anyone whoā€™s taken this cruise around May time could give me an idea of the weather and seas they experienced at this time. Donā€™t mind covering up and wearing layers but donā€™t particularly want very rough seas & constant rain, although I do appreciate itā€™s very unpredictable now. Thanks.
  3. Yes you can - not sure how much youā€™ll see depending on time of day/night. Weā€™re on the same cruise next week šŸ˜€šŸ˜€
  4. Oh dear - I hope they can get their act together by next week when we board. The food however does look good. Do you think thereā€™s a lot of new crew & have you had any conversation with the restaurant manager?
  5. Weā€™ll be joining Saturn when it arrives in Reykjavik so very interested to hear reports on everything to do with the ship and your journey šŸ˜€
  6. I would second that - Barcelona now is too busy.
  7. Iā€™ve now cancelled Gray Line & booked FlyBus with a stop at ā€˜Bus Stop 4ā€™, which I believe is across from our Hotel - Exeter Hotel. Also saved some cash! Once again thanks to everyone for your input. This Forum is invaluable, so full of knowledge & experience. Countdown now to our Saturn cruise - 13th September šŸŽ‰šŸŽ‰
  8. We are flying into Kevlavik airport for our cruise on Saturn in 3 weeks - we are arriving the day before and have just received an email from Gray Line, advising that they can no longer do the shared transfer which was to take us to our hotel. They have changed the transfer to a coach which takes us to the bus station & then transfers us to a smaller bus, they are also changing the time to 30 minutes later. This has been booked for months and Iā€™m not best pleasedšŸ¤Ø, doesnā€™t fill me with a lot of confidence in Gray Line. Can anyone give any recommendations for an alternative they may have used in the past.
  9. Thatā€™s awful - my thoughts are also with the whole crew on Mars and indeed across the fleet.
  10. When we booked our excursions at beginning of July they were very prompt opening up at 8 p.m.- i.e. 8 hours difference between Pacific Time & BST
  11. We were near elevators on Deck 5 (5062) & heard no noise at all.
  12. Yes thank you, just watched it again and saw you DeešŸ˜€šŸ˜€ Canā€™t wait for our next cruise on Saturn in September!
  13. Fab - the next time itā€™s on repeat Iā€™ll make a point of watching it. As I said ā€˜claim to fameā€™ šŸ˜€
  14. It was Jane MacDonald - and we watched that show. I remember distinctly part of it showing her in the Winter Garden for afternoon tea - were you there? It could be your ā€˜claim to fameā€™ šŸ‘
  15. The last thick brochure we received from Viking came in very handy. My husband had hurt his lower back after a fall and had the brochure tucked down the waist band of his trousers, which he swore helped him when sitting. I had offered to buy him a back support but he swears by Viking šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚
  16. Thank you for your great reports & photos. It really seems as if youā€™ve had a great cruise. You must be very disciplined as, whilst I would have every intention to undertake a report everyday of our cruise, I know that halfway through they would tail off. Kudos.
  17. Itā€™s a great feeling when you get on your connected flight, especially at an airport which is notorious for losing luggage, e.g. Amsterdam, & the App on your phone tells you your luggage is ā€˜with youā€™! šŸ¤©šŸ¤©
  18. Weā€™re not going until September but this thread prompted me to get my husband to change the batteries in our Air Tags as they will be a year old in September and thatā€™s supposedly the lifetime of the batteries. All sorted.
  19. But letā€™s keep the birds tweeting in the rest rooms pleasešŸ˜€
  20. I think, looking at Torshavnā€™s menu, the SS pkg covers all but 2 of the ā€˜spirited cocktailsā€™. Going for the most expensive gin, vodka, scotch etc. might take you over the $18 limit, depending what they charge for mixers - canā€™t remember from last year if mixer was included in cost of price on menušŸ¤”
  21. We knew what you meant šŸ˜‚
  22. Looks really good - excited for our trip in September & hope arrival is as straightforward as yours.
  23. I agree, certainly in respect of long haul flights & especially when having to transfer through Miami, which from our experience is the worst airport.
