I'm hoping for a slide from the Crows Nest to the atrium, then I won't have to worry about 'lift etiquette' on the way down at least...๐

Britannia - Deck 15 and the motion of the ocean?
AndyMichelle replied to MellyMoo1989's topic in P&O Cruises ( UK )
You will feel a bit more movement higher up, but from our experience, not enough on Britannia to cause you major issues. She always feels fairly stable to us, and Michelle can suffer from motion sickness but has had no issues. Look at the positives, you are very close to the Crows Nest, pools and buffet.. ๐ You might just want to check out what the area directly above you is, shown in white on the deck plans, opposite Epicurean. Probably nothing to worry about but could be a boiler room, galley or something that creates noise. I'm sure our friends on here will be able to help with this. As it is quite a way off, you should be able to swap without too much trouble if needed, but choose carefully. Andy -
I believe it can all be done in port, but it is fairly easy to do. Clear instructions are on the personaliser. I managed it, so it can't be that difficult... If you try and they decide it is not suitable, they will just take them again at check in, so don't panic. All these things sound daunting but, believe me, it is all fairly simple. Andy

Apparently, 1500 contractors boarded Thursday night. Work had started in the casino, removing cladding. A lot of carpet and soft furnishings are being replaced, but unsure where. Kitchens are being 'refigured' and a covered smoking area is being installed. We are on her 26th, so will be able to report back then. Andy

We sail 3 weeks yesterday and got labels yesterday. Not sure why instructions say different. Don't be put off by negative comments, thousands still manage to have a great time with P&O. They are not perfect, but we feel they still offer enough for us to have a fantastic holiday. Go with an open mind, I'm sure you will enjoy it. Andy

Great point John. I often get put off of ordering vegan food because I 'assume' I won't like it. I also would appreciate anyone recommending dishes they have enjoyed. Saying that, we have tried some of the gluten free/vegan desserts... Absolutely rank... ๐ Andy

That's when we get off, I'm pretty sure we have Ray Quinn but nothing on the personaliser yet.

Thank you. Shame, we would have liked to have seen her. Have a great time. Andy

I hope you don't mind me asking, when are you on Britannia and how do you know LaVoix is on board? We board on 26th April and can't see anyone has been announced, but have heard rumours Ray Quinn is in the Limelight. Andy

Glad you had a good time after a disappointing start. I wouldn't be getting off while the bar was still open...๐ Welcome back. Andy

Looking good Sue -
I was unaware any did have baths, but I'm sure others can advise better. Andy

It is the last one I believe, refit from the 5th. Not sure where she is going for the refit. Just a service and some new carpets/furniture I believe, although there has been talk of moving/removing some of the smoking areas. Back in service for a 5 day cruise on 21st, we board for the Fjords on the 26th, so will be watching with interest. Andy

No, we have stayed in 3 different ones and all been shower only. Andy

Norwegian cruise - Any free wi-fi on shore (Stavanger etc.)?
AndyMichelle replied to MDav123's topic in P&O Cruises ( UK )
A short walk into the town, you will find Starbucks etc with WiFi, but as Zapp said, we just use our roaming. The coffee will probably cost more than the ships wifi๐ Keep in mind that you will be in Stavangar on Sunday, so a lot of places are closed. Andy -
Have a fantastic time

Like a lot of the niggles that seem to bother so many cruisers, it's because it is deemed as a cutback as was available before. Not many of the cutbacks have really affected our cruise experience, only really MDR menus (no sundaes!!!) and some service 'attitudes', possibly caused by understaffing or included tips? If everything else that has gone has kept prices reasonable when everything in the world has increased, that's fine by me. If the current offering isn't good enough, I will happily pay more to try other lines. We still think P&O offers great value and have 2 future cruises booked, but also have 2 Cunard this year as well. It will be interesting to see if we feel the extra cost is justified. The selling prices are not that dissimilar, but factoring in tips and drink prices will affect our judgment on whether to stick or twist. We are travelling with 6 other family members who have never sailed before on Britannia shortly, not one of them has asked if face cloths or body lotion will be available... ๐ Andy

Is self disembarkation on Britannia a mad rush for taxis?
AndyMichelle replied to MDav123's topic in P&O Cruises ( UK )
We are on the same cruise. Taxis do get busy, but tend to turn around very quickly, earlier the better. You will have plenty of time, I doubt you would need to wait more than half an hour and the station is close by. Just a note about the terminal though, we did a similar itinerary on Britannia last year departing from Ocean terminal but returned to Mayflower. Neither terminal is that far from the station though. Happy sailing, see you on board. Andy -
Iona and Arcadia Southampton 27th April
AndyMichelle replied to kruzseeka's topic in P&O Cruises ( UK )
Roadworks on the M27 are just starting, the long awaited resurfacing I think, so could also add to the mayhem. I would have liked to have seen the flotilla from Warsash beach, but we sail the day before (thankfully) on Britannia. When Iona sailed in, the weather was so bad she just looked like a ghost ship, so let's hope for a nice day. Andy -
What a great, balanced summary. Just about hits the nail on the head. Thank you Andy

Plenty of choice for all budgets. There are a couple of 'spoons, slug and lettuce etc within a short walk. West Quay has all sorts of choices, but I would suggest a stroll down to Oxford Street for a more civilised but lively evening, a few nice pubs serving food there. Have a great time. Andy

Now this is disappointing... What are we going to choose for our 'virtual dinner' now...๐ Absolutely loved tagging along with you, thank you so much. You have got so many people in the mood for upcoming cruises, so mission accomplished, stand down..๐ Andy & Michelle
