  1. Also...if by chance you are doing any type of Princess transfer to the ship then you can ignore arrival groups! They have you on a list and they know pretty much when you're going to get there.
  2. The "Baked Alaskas" that are used in the parade are fake! They are not the real thing!
  3. Same here on an August (this year) sailing to Alaska on Discovery. "Parade" was much smaller than in the past; maybe 25 max. Same "fake" Baked Alaska...but we were with a first time cruising couple; they really got a kick out of it.
  4. Can't say for sure...but I don't think *any* ships have re-activated this since the cruising restart. I may be wrong....
  5. According to this: https://www.princess.com/plan/cruise-with-confidence/cruise-health/frequently-asked-questions/au-cruises/ you only have to self attest to a covid test. No "RAT" needed.
  6. The comedians that don't "make it" come back as CDs! 😁
  7. I have on a couple of occasions done the self-service laundry...but I usually don't want to take away from my "cruise time"! I usually just send it out with the steward on the charge basis...it's not out of line (just consider it part of the cost of your vacation!)
  8. Can't swear to it, but I would strongly suspect that the sets will be very similar from cruise to cruise. They of course, make the second show of the evening a bit different (but not always).
  9. A while back the website was asking almost everyone to re-enter some of their profile information. It looked very similar to re-registering and that got most people concerned for the very reason that @PacnGoNowstated. Take a closer look at the page you are given and confirm whether it is really asking you to re-register or just give profile info (even though you know it should already be in your profile.) I had to supply a piece of info again (I forgot what it was) but once I did everything was back to normal.
  10. If you're looking solely at the ships to make your decision you can't really go wrong with either one. Both are good. Most people tend to go with the itinerary leading them one way or the other...
  11. You're going to have to be a bit more specific as to what you are asking about. Was there something in particular you are looking for?
  12. While it is technically possible to print something from your phone...very few people are set up to be able to do this. Princess has certainly made a lot of technology changes over the past 4 or 5 years but most people are able to keep up with these changes by reading many of the posts here on Cruise Critic and learning from what other people have discovered or experienced.
  13. There absolutely *are* penny slots on board. You may have to look for them tucked away in a corner or such but on the Discovery and Island (within past 2 months) we played them! (Yes, we're somewhat cheap!)
  14. I second this one! We use Blackberry every time we go to London as long as it fits into our travel needs. I wouldn't call it cheap...but it's reasonable and (so far) absolutely reliable. You can book (and pay) in advance but can also cancel very easy with a very fast refund. We had to do so for a cruise where we literally "missed the boat" in FLL. Blackberry was the easiest refund I had to deal with of the several that I had to request.
  15. Assuming you are booked on this one, just look in your personalized under itinerary...plainly stated.
  16. I have NEVER had my assigned boarding time "checked"...
  17. Hmmm...typical Princess; "consistently inconsistent"!
  18. Princess absolutely seems to go out of their way to make it seem like you *have* to do the check in via the app...and as everybody else has already stated, that's hogwash! Just follow the advice given above by @PacnGoNow
  19. I *believe* we're on the same cruise. Can't speak definitively, but shows are almost universally 7:00 & 9:00 or 7:30 & 9:30.
  20. We have done the tour and really enjoyed it. However...we did it as a ship excursion...not private. Normandy is a long ways from the port and no matter how many "guarantees" a private company gives you the ship still will not wait for you if you get back from a private tour late. Before anybody jumps in and criticizes me for "wasting" money and sharing the fact that it is very likely run by the very same tour company, I have very often done private tours...just those that don't stray very far from the ship/port. Some people thrive on "adventure"...I prefer a bit more security! 😄
