  1. Should my doctor ever retire, can you be mine? Be warned: I have a total man crush on my doctor. I believe he is my platonic soul mate so there is a lot to live up to. lol. In all seriousness, although his small medical group has been taken over several times by ever larger medical groups, he still manages to retain that small town family doctor approach. He was also my wife doctor - both of us for 25 years - and when she suffered the anorexic brain injury 2 years ago, although he was not part of her care team at the hospital and later skilled nursing facility, they kept him up to date with her status (in addition to me). He would call me randomly during his lunch break or on his way home to check in on me, see how I was doing, if I understood all that her care team was doing and if I needed additional explanation. We had several deep philosophical discussions that helped guide me in my decision making regarding her care. Most the phone calls were 30-40 minutes with a couple lasting close to an hour. All on his on time and never once billed me.
  2. Isn't every day National Pet Day?😉 I mentioned it to Leonard but he was his typical "not impressed" self.
  3. As long as there is pot stirring going on, where does a podiatrist surgeon fall on the spectrum of health providers? 😉 😂😂
  4. It's cute when the doctor and the scheduling department as not on the same page. When I go for my annual physical, my family doctor who I've been going to for 25 years will say "See you in 12 months". When I go to schedule my next years appointment, the receptionist tells me he's scheduled 14-15 months out. Their solution? About 2 months before my annual physical, call to make the following years annual physical appointment. 😒 At least it'll keep me on the every 12 months routine.
  5. @Ozark_Kid So sorry that you got the diagnosis that you got. Despite my NY Yankee fandom, I'm not going to pull out Lou Gehrig "I'm the luckiest man on the face of Earth" speech. I will say that I admire your positive attitude and am hearten that you are surrounded by a large and loving family and support system. It's fantastic that your daughters are able to help & without a doubt, they will be a huge asset as you head down this road. I also get that you are hesitant to share bad news. I think we all are at some point. I'll echo what others said and share as much or as little as you feel comfortable. Personally, I've found this thread a great escape mechanism when I needed a break from real life. Hopefully you will too. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
  6. @jagsfan @Keksie @dani negreanu So sorry to hear that you've lost the VM of your loved ones. I have 3 from my DW that I want to keep forever. I'm pretty sure I can follow @bobmacliberty advice on how to permanently save them even though I same a Android guy (Samsung).
  7. I think you mean this Thursday, April 13th game. It's the last game of the regular season & also fan appreciation night. There is usually a few special ceremonies that night. Usually, each player on the Rangers will give away a autographed jersey off their back to 20 lucky fans. There may be some autographed sticks given away also. I never enter those kinds of things. I won't be at that game however. Traditionally, my nephew & I will go to the first & last game of the season but it didn't work out this year. I did, however, buy tickets to 2 playoff games in the first round and 2 more in the second round (fingers-crossed). It doesn't seem like the Rangers are going to have home-ice advantage this year so I'll be going to Games 3 & 6.
  8. When I went to Vegas for the first time, I also was amazed by the lack of sky scrapers I guess because so many TV shows & movies are shot on The Strip, I just assumed there were more streets like it. It was pretty cool as the flight landed, the flight path was parallel to the strips so we could see all the hotel/casino. Another thing that amazed me was how the city just ends. Dense housing development and then just barren, desolate desert. You can see what I mean around the 11 minute mark of the video.
  9. I have not. I think they only allow people into the lobby to look at the Art Deco interior. Otherwise, there is not much else there. No observation deck, gift shop or musem. Pretty much strictly an office building.
  10. Nice! And it's great to see so much enthusiasm. When it was first announced that Vegas was getting a team & the arena was going to be on the strip next to the Monte Carlo casino, I thought it's was a mistake. Tourist won't want to spend time going to a game & locals aren't going to want to go to The Strip. Clearly, I have no idea what I'm talking about. 😃
  11. Originally I believe it was supposed to be condos but that changed mid-way thru construction. There is something cool about being a fan of a team from it's inception. Shhh, don't tell anybody but I'm a closet Nashville Predators fan. Except when they play the Rangers. 😉
  12. You contributed to the well being of the city so sure, it counts! And it's a pretty economical way to get it out of your system too. I remember hearing about the old days when casinos' gave away free food and rooms to lure gamblers since that's where the money was. Now, something like 30% or so of a casino's profit comes from gambling with the rest coming from rooms, food, clubs and shows! I know a few people that go to Vegas regularly for the "experience" and never set foot in the casino. I guess that would include our very own @A&L_Ont The first casino I went to in Pennsylvania was Sands (now Wind Creek) in Bethlehem, PA. Must've been when they first opened as they had a promotion that if you signed up for their rewards program, you got 4 free nights at their sister property, The Venetian in Las Vegas. Somehow we also acquired 4 free nights the MGM Grand (probably from gambling at The Borgota in AC as it is/was part of the MGM family of casinos). So of course, we strung both together, added another night fo $79 and spent 9 nights in Vegas for $79.
  13. First trip to Las Vegas was around 2002 or 2003 I think. They were still in the kid-friendly phase back then. I've been back 6 or 7 times since then and it seems the city seems to "reinvent" itself every 10 years or so.
  14. Oceanview balcony, forward part of the ship with staterooms above and below.
  15. Did that trip several times as a kid. Family road trips in the way, way back of dad's station wagon. Dad didnt want to be tied to a time limit so no pre-planning or reserving motels in advance. Just winged it. This was back in the 1960's & early 70's so it was all mom-n-pop motels. Stayed in some, uh, interesting places. Loved it! Not sure if you saw my earlier post about wanting to recreate those days sometime in the not-too-distant future.
  16. +1. For some reason, I think it would fit your personality, based on what I've read online. It might not seem like a compliment, but I meant it as one. 🙂
  17. It was a fun tongue-in-cheek exercise. But yeah, you are correct that if you wanted to do a semi-serious price comparison, you'd have to not subtract the $3,901.59 in ala carte benefits from the suite price. So the true pp/pd price difference will be $169 ($3,901.59 / 4 pp / 7 day = $139 + the $30 difference already noted). So is $169 worth the "intangible benefits" i.e. Genie, priority access, MDR menu room service, plush robes and the extra space + SL access? No doubt, for some it is. EDIT: In real life, I'm a pretty sarcastic person and know from personal experience, it does not translate well into the written word on Internet forums. Many, many misinterpreted posts before I learned to somewhat tone myself down. 😇
  18. Back in August, I drove the length of VA on I-81 on the way to TX and back. Lots of traffic both ways but was always moving. As mentioned in the other posts, plenty of trucks so had to stay alert. Beautiful area so by keeping one eye on the trucks and one eye admiring the scenery, it made that part of the trip go by quickly. One day, I'd like to make it a more leisurely, 5-7 day drive thru the Shedondoha Valley on the way to the Blue Ridge & Smokey mountains.
  19. Wow, I can't afford to not be in a $15,000 suite. 😉
