As others have said, it's all about spending priorities. I'm a cheap skate with certain items - day to day items like groceries and clothing - but won't think twice about splurging for other items, such as nicer car, concert or baseball/ hockey tickets...or the Deluxe Drink Package. 😉 So if someone chooses to spend $20,000 on a suite, more power to them! Hopefully that's a big profit center for RCL which help lower the cost (ha-ha) for the regular cabins. I know, wishful thinking.

I would have fell for it had the press release said Johnny Rockets was being replaced with Outback Steakhouse. Oh wait, there is nothing Australian about Outback Steakhouse. Never mind.

From the article posted, this says it all: "Over 15 years, infectious diseases from all non-natural reactional water pools—of which hot tubs were one small subsection—caused 27,219 illnesses and eight deaths. In comparison according to the CDC, foodborne disease causes 48 million illnesses, 128,000 hospitalizations, and 3,000 deaths per year." I'll take my chances in the hot tub vs the MDR😉 (j/k). In all seriousness, I've used the hot tub almost every day on every cruise I've taken. Sometimes early, sometimes late and never experienced any issues. I do rinse off before and after using the hot tub. I feel comfortable using the cruise ships or resort hotels hot tub. Now, a roadside Super 8 or Rodeway Inn on the other hand, maybe not. I get it, there maybe a certain "ick" factor but I look past it. Much like I don't think of how many dirty human hands have touched my chair whenever I pull it to sit down/get up in the MDR or WJ.😉

Speaking only for myself, any bloating, swelling, etc caused by alcohol is usually very temporary. I tend to over-indulge a bit while on vacation whether it be a cruise, Jersey Shore, camping, whatever. Most of the swelling and bloating will be gone within a day or three once I'm home. Also, I can hang with the best of them (the drinkers) on the Bella cruise & then not touch a drop of alcohol for weeks after I return. That might have something to do with it as well. Again, just my experience, I certainly don't recommend anyone follow in my footsteps. 😇 But I do agree with you about not getting younger. Recovery does seem to take longer such as trying to shed the weight gain on such vacations. EDIT TO ADD: Most people don't realize just how much more walking they do on a cruise. If it's a lot more than usual, that will certainly add to the achy joints.

Dani - have I ever mentioned how much I admire you? I'm amazed that despite all of the turmoil - both external and now internal - that you continue on living a "normal" everyday quiet life. It wouldn't surprise me in the least that despite all that is going on, you'd probably help someone on this thread book a cabin. 🙂 Also, I have to start following the news more closely. I had no idea that was going on until I read it here. I'm just now catching up on the story.

All of my Oasis/Allure cruises have been deck 10 & 11. Fa enough away from pool deck & Boardwalk to be quiet, equal distance to most of the activity zones. Plus, I find walking thru the interior halls to be the quickest way to get from one end of the ship to the other vs fighting the crowds in the Royal Promenade or Central Park. Knock on wood, no mobility issues so I don't mind walking up or down a few flights of stairs. Also tend to favor being near the front elevators as they seem to be less busy than the rear elevators.

I know there is concern about the once a day stateroom cleaning or 1 bottle of wine limit, but to me a bigger concern would be the toilets that randomly stop working. It's one of those basic functions that you assume should just always work properly, like electricity and lame cruise director jokes. That's my only negative comment. Otherwise, I thoroughly enjoyed reading this thread. Thank you for all that organized and contributed to it's content. I really liked seeing it from multiple viewpoints, It has been one of the betert Live Reviews and one of the few I've kept up-to-date with. Now I wonder how I'm going to fill the 2 hours a day I spent reading it. 😇

Thanks, it was a good night. For me, not so much for the Pens. Sorry, The days of Scotty Bowman and his "Unit of Five"!! Totally dominated the sport for a better part of a decade. Totally agree, although I am a baseball fan as well. But that's more about hanging out in the stands, socializing with other fans since it's soooo slow moving. Hockey you can't take our eyes off the ice for a second.
