  1. We are never going to agree, but yes. They know it is the one Covid related change that passengers liked and want to keep. And to them keeping passengers happy and money flowing in is priority #1 and priority #2 and priority #3 and so on.
  2. I am not sure the booking system will allow you to double book. A "double booking" story, though an airline not a cruise line. Years ago, we found a perfect cruise for our 30th anniversary, and booked it way in advance well before airlines had established pricing. Our TA said to take the cruise line (in this case Princess) airfare to make sure we had airfare and then keep checking once airfares had been established as we could always cancel the cruise line airfare before final payment. Long story short, I found great airfare, but every time I tried to book it online, I got a pop-up, technical difficulties, please try again or a number to call. I called after a few tries, and the customer service representative from the airline after I gave my name also had my wife's name that I had not given her. It turns out, we were already booked on the flight by Princess (3 could have flown for the price quoted in the special online promotion for what we were paying Princess for 2). She had asked if we had already paid, and I let her know all we had paid was the cruise line deposit. I asked her to cancel and rebook us. She at first hesitated wanting me to cancel through the TA first, but finally came through for me when I said I did not want at any time to have no airfare booked and promised to immediately call our TA, which of course I did.
  3. There are examples of successful real musters on ships that have had the old style muster. As I previously wrote, one was detailed in post #151. You have no examples after the new e-muster. We all also have the example of the Costa Concordia where not all the passengers were required to do the muster drill and the ensuing deaths. Cruise lines were forced after that to take the muster drills much more seriously.
  4. Unfortunately, morons will be morons. And being a parent is probably the most important job in the world that comes with no licensing requirement.
  5. Is your TA accredited? If I am not mistaken, that would mean he or she has to pay into an insurance plan that covers for mistakes by a TA.
  6. And it is pure speculation that it makes it safer as there is no empirical evidence that proves that. Read again post #151 as to evidence pertaining to the old drill. No one has come up with the actual relevant quote from the Coast Guard, Look, there were many changes initially post Covid. And no one really liked (though some found necessary) vaccine requirements and Covid testing. The one change passengers liked was the new easy e-muster. And I believe that it the real reason some lines are sticking with it unless forced to go back to the old drill.
  7. Of course he can, and you know that. What you really want to know is whether they will serve him. And the answer is no, though I do remember in the past reading that they will when the ship is in Europe. (Or I may be remembering incorrectly, and someone will correct me.)
  8. I think all schools now have active shooter drills. I believe at least NY state mandates them. As for the nuclear drills, I remember them from when I was back in school. Hide under the desk and kiss your ass goodbye. 😢 I don't think anyone does them anymore. 😊 I do remember one fire drill in the freshmen dormitory in the middle of the night. After the loud noise, my roommate threw his alarm clock against the wall. 🤣
  9. Good news for stockholders, though the debt and debt service is still staggeringly large,
  10. Did they contact the Coast Guard? And you make it sound like they did it to save money when they probably did it to make things safer,
  11. Right if someone feels entitled to do a stunt like this, why not everyone? Thirty seconds times thousands of passengers now adds up to hours.
  12. There is no reason to not show the proper id when you have it. Oh, someone asked in a newsgroup and I just wanted to know to help others just does not cut it as a reason.
  13. The one city we really found that out to be true was on the same cruise as Oslo, Stockholm. We went to the Vasa Museum, and then to an outdoor park. I thought we were spending too much time there, and finally we left and went to an art museum, but realized we did not have much time left. DW rushed through much quicker than usual and missed a couple of floors entirely that would have been of great interest to her.
  14. A responsible journalist would have asked NCL for their comments and also followed up with the Coast Guard in order to put the comments by Carnival in context.
  15. Good for you! I am also a big believer in if you are willing to criticize, you should also be willing to praise when it is deserved.
  16. I'll look forward to your thoughts about that cruise. It is really an incredible itinerary, which is why we chose it. We chose the dates that we did because we will have a wedding anniversary onboard.
  17. Really? The people checking ids are just doing their job. They do not need passengers playing games with them to find out what might work. And there are other passengers being held up in line by a stunt like this.
  18. I will go by what experienced Mariners who have had experience with the traditional muster drill say. No one has as of yet had to deal with a real emergency situation with the new e-muster and can actually somehow say it is safer.
  19. You're welcome. And I hope you post some of your experiences either on board or when you return.
  20. I think Carnival sees the e-muster as more satisfying to its customers. As for safer, that is just their assumption, or maybe wishful thinking.
  21. We are also flying in a day ahead. If you are on the cruise leaving 8/6, I hope you join the roll call if you have not already joined.
  22. Doesn't anyone use a TA? You let them deal with holds. And a high volume TA usually has someone directly to call at a cruise line to deal with problems. I know one (and as a matter of fact it was with Princess) when I was getting different information on the phone and the website, I called our TA. He put me on a three way call with his contact, and I got the right information. He then left us on the phone in case I had any other questions.
  23. I hope it resolves itself. Since the first one did, I think there is a good chance that it will. Just remember that if it goes from pending to a real charge, contact NCL first before disputing. Your credit card company will ask what you have done to try to resolve the matter.
  24. It does seem that people are more likely to post if they have a negative experience. We are booked with flights from Newark to London and from Iceland back to Newark. We are expecting them to be non-stop. Our TA could not guarantee it, but said it would almost surely be so.
