  1. And this is exactly why tipping is totally out of control is the USA!
  2. What British Airways says and what HM Customs and Immigration do is frequently two different things. Especially at Heathrow. Believe whatever you want to.
  3. You'll have to go thru customs in both places no matter what you do about luggage. Because the UK is no longer part of the EU. Entry thru Heathrow is only valid for the UK.
  4. simple answer, use it the way it's designed to be used.
  5. Very true, there is no such thing as a truly Broadway quality show on a cruise ship.
  6. Typical American attitude, expecting the rest of the world to speak English.
  7. We had a similar experience with a group from a company called Kyani. Rudest bunch of entitled jerks we've ever seen on a cruise. shoving people out of elevators so they could get more of their group on, running over people in the hallways, trying to take over specialty restaurants without reservations, etc.
  8. The driver was shoving her way thru a fairly crowded area using her scooter as a battering ram. Literally running up behind people and yelling for them to move or bumping them from behind. My wife tried to get out of the way but couldn't move far enough because of the crowd around us. The scooter driver made no attempt to avoid her, simply drove over her foot and kept going.
  9. Leaving Rome way too early. Check in starts at 10:30 and there really isn't much to do around the port.
  10. You didn't miss anything, 10:30 is the earliest time available.
  11. A scooter user ran over my wife's foot with the rear wheel of her scooter. The result was several broken bones, two major surgeries, and several months of learning to walk normally again. The woman who ran her over never stopped, when confronted she denied everything. Some scooter users are careful and courteous, others definitely are not, especially when alcohol is involved.
  12. No spouses do not get the military discount if not traveling with the military member.
  13. Definitely change their money. If they did get lucky and find a vendor who would accept pounds the exchange rate would be seriously bad.
  14. Wrong, passports (especially from the USA) are a high value target for pickpockets.
  15. Boarding usually starts about 11:00-11:30am, What you need to do is choose a Check-in time. Venice to Ravenna takes about 2-2.5 hours depending on what transportation method you choose. Traveling by train will involve at least one change as there are no direct trains from Venice to Ravenna.
  16. this is your check-in time, not boarding time.
  17. And this exactly why America has such a huge tipping culture.
  18. so you leave the auto-gratuities in place if the service isn't good? Tipping for poor service! Now that makes no sense to us.
  19. We've sailed out of Ravenna several times, there are no shuttles from the train station to the port. You'll need a taxi. Cost from Ravenna to Porto di Corsini (port area) should be about 25-30 euros for two people plus luggage.
  20. You're correct, there is no point in prepaying gratuities
