  1. I have dual citizenhip (EU and my native US). I am aware of the benefits of having EU Citizenship that are on the various websites but I am wondering if any one has had other experiences, good or bad. Do to my age and circumstances, I think the only benefit I would ever be able to use is health care access if I should become sick in an EU country. And I dont know much about that so not relying on that benefit. I forgot to add that I also have an EU Passport.
  2. Yeah, the one that is on now is on its 3rd cycle. As the 3rd day comes and adfvances the warnings appear "xx hours left" and then the next morning it is back on the website. Yet that is not what happened with the last promo. I guess they like to keep us checking their website lol
  3. Definitely is a stress reducer! Yet some people still want to remove them . Not so much on this forum, or they dont talk about it, but on another forum I was once on.
  4. Did they advertise these extras online? Otherwise the 6 cruises might have been an incentive lol
  5. Interesting. The next time I travel solo I will think about that. What do you think would be a decent tip in the MDR for 1 person without any major requests?
  6. Its the texture of it that gets me, not so much the taste, although that is bad too. To me, eating feels like how I imagine eating shoe leather would feel like
  7. They do advertise other bargains not offered by the cruise lines- the OBC credit they give you and paid gratuities. You have to go to the fine print to read what the details are but they are visibly showing offers not offered by the cruise line - to certain level of passenger. I agree with you on who gets the xtra offers. Not much to be made from 1 person in an inside cabin.
  8. I have searched a couple more of the online travel agents and none of them pay gratuities unless you book a balcony or suite. If there is one I havent checked yet that does, it may depend on your total bill. Tell me your agent paid gratuities for you, a solo traveler, in an inside cabin and I will keep looking. Probably very little profit in this situation.
  9. I wasnt clear when I wrote my response. I meant that the websites I checked didnt include gratuities for less expensive cabins. I will keep looking
  10. Sorry, using my own terminology. One person in an inside cabin I refer to as an inside single for my own benefit. Its not a cruise line thing (in other words, single with supplement in inside cabin)
  11. No refrigerator in the studios- that is good to know! Makes a single inside more attractive.
  12. Inside that true in life in general? Or there could be other factors. Maybe Haven people are more curious so ask questions. They have to mention "Haven" or they may not get their question answered. I often wonder myself where all the inside cabin travelers are. Only a few identify as such on here. I dont care that others care about what others think (that's a mouthful) Its their waste of energy. I cant help but think of my teen age years (and laugh) when I really did care what others thought The hair, the clothes, just about everything. But especially the hair.
  13. I figured naming travel agents would not be allowed. I will look around. I also didnt speak to anyone, that could possibly make a difference. But I do know paid gratuities did not apply to inside cabins. I know I didnt misunderstand. Not sure about the other perks. Thanks
  14. Has anyone started their cruise in Quebec City and used a Cruise/Park Hotel package? (similar to Fly/Park, or extended parking) There seem to be a few hotels offering extended parking out by the airport but I read its at least an hour to the cruise terminal by public transportation ( I realize there are other options like taxi, uber etc) If I drove to Quebec City to catch a cruise I would probably want to arrive the night before (which means hotel) so it would be convenient and probably less expensive to do the extended parking than a hotel and then driving to the parking area near the cruise terminal (for a 7 day cruise would be $140, plus the hotel) On the other hand, it might work out to a similar cost without the added hour bus ride to the cruise terminal. Which is why I'm asking if anyone has any experience with this park/cruise type of arrangments.
  15. Funny! I laughed out loud reading about you in flowing robes sniffing rarified air
  16. Are you allowed (by Cruise Critic) to name the online TA? I was looking at one and realized at the end there was no opportunity to use my Cruise First certificate. Which made me realize that allowing you to do so must be one of their perks that changes because I have seen the online websites advertise them. And also, the one I was looking at did pay gratuities but when you read the fine print it was only for balcony and above (or maybe not even balcony, cant remember) So in the end the fare was the same as the NCL website.
  17. This discussion reminds me of the scene in Titanic where the ship has taken on so much water its flowing down the corridors and the third class passengers are huddled behind an iron gate watching the water level rise. I guess a little girl questioned why they werent leaving and her mother (I assume) said in a very sweet way that they would get their turn after all the first class passengers had a chance to get off.
  18. People have quoted reasons from their childhood that make them appreciate or not want pampering in the Haven. Maybe I like to be with the masses because it brings back memories of my youth when my mother introduced me to this way of travel. After that first voyage when I was 16 I became a ship groupie. Living outside of NYC I was able to follow the ship schedules in the paper and take a bus over to the city, walk down to the docks and get on the ship as a visitor before it sailed. I think a small donation in a big jar for the seaman's club was all it cost. Then when it was time to sail a crew member would come around the deck announding "all ashore who's going ashore". Fond memories. Interesting how that "baggage" from childhood affects us. I have a cousin who served in Viet Nam and states "No, I dont want to go camping. I have had enough of that"
  19. Yeah, I dont get it when husbands and wives cant sit apart for a few hours. I read on other forums about the requests people make to switch plane seats "so I can sit next to my husband". Actually I feel embarassed for the first class passengers sipping on their cocktails as the economy passengers walk past. And the guy sleeping on his flat seat- LOL
  20. You tip extra ((which is easier to do when you only have one waiter, I tip the room steward extra) but also after each meal? Or does she remember you from previous cruises? Yes, if you are a group and want to dine together you do have to do things a little differently and it helps for a server to know you. I will eat in the buffet when I'm in a rush for some reason but prefer the main dining room due to people bumping into you and the lines in the buffet. I dont know why I wouldnt prefer what you describe.
  21. I said no offense because I dont want you to get the wrong impression from what I was saying. I'm glad you enjoy it. "Being pampered" is not what I want for my cruise experience but for those who do, that is fine.
  22. My participation in this thread is over. What started out as an innocent question has turned into a personal attack on many levels. I did not criticize advice, I thanked people except those who couldnt contain their rudeness. So relax. I wont be harassing you any more.
  23. I checked a few and the fee was about $75. Maybe if I had checked all of them I would have realized that some did not. (I dont know if that's the case or not) As far as the first part of your comment is concerned, if I contradicted myself it was unintentional.
  24. If you look at the attachment I included earlier you will see that many flights do not included a checked bag, just a carry on. The super cheap flights dont include either.
  25. You are still in bed and the butler comes in (I understand you are out of sight) and sets up breakfast? No offense meant but nope, nope, nope
