  1. Agree, Marriot is good, views and convenient to OPT. View from my Marriott window, pre Coral Princess, Sept 2022. Pricey, but very good.
  2. One wonders if the noro and covid viruses on Grand Princess travelled across the Pacific from USA to OZ. What say ye?
  3. Get well soon Julie and Rolf. How does Regent ISO cabin service, i.e. food/drinks, compare with what you experienced on Princess?
  4. I feel the grey card is for suite pax only, priority tendering only. A poor bonus for suite pax IMO.
  5. One in Zetland is not too bad, but Pitt st, can be $300 a night. Exxy.
  6. Meriton are good but expensive in my opinion.
  7. Remembrance Day here Lyle. Coming from a military family and being an ex soldier myself, albeit in my youth, it means a lot to me. Lest we forget.
  8. The late 60’ s even, mic, started going to Matravile Rissole in 1966, schooner was 20 cents. A meat pie about the same. Yes, I had a misspent youth.🍺🍻
  9. The Bentleigh got me I know Rissole is the RSL club. So you had rissoles at the Rissole, Beatleman?
  10. I know Furphys is an ale, but Bentleigh Rissoles? Please explain, sound posh.
  11. Many thanks Geoff for finding this. Yes we boarded at LA. To Sydney. We sure got smashed with wild seas around the Bluff, bottom of NZ. Waves up to deck 10. Capt Froude got us back. Aaah, great memories, but scary.
  12. Stayed at Meriton, Pitt St in Cbd, handy to trains etc. Recommended.
  13. Scotch pie, I had one in Edinburgh, pre coeliac days, years ago. Savoury minced lamb in it from memory.
  14. Coles and Woolworth pork pies are sourced from Patchetts at Botany, NSW and Temptation Bakeries in Victoria. Fair hike to Perth. One would think with many ex pat and migrant Brits living around Perth, someone would manufacture pork pies. Anyway good to see the pie thread still alive, our departed Mr Gut would like that. RIP mate.
  15. Only pork pies cold, rest warm to hot. English style pork pies, available here, woolies and coles, around $3.70.
  16. Wild, but been in worse, 12m in ye olde Regal Princess, bottom of NZ in 2007.
  17. There are a couple of clips on YT. Been through ye olde Bay of Biscay a few rimes, some really strong swells where Atlantic meets the Med.
  18. I know Mic, but no bakery in Batemans Bay does gf pies and sausage rolls. The frozen ones from Coles and Woollies pretty ordinary. So when I go to Haydens, I eat a freshie there and bring back half a dozen frozies for Ron. Pricey though as is most gf food, $8 for the base mince beef pie.
  19. Cunarder can also be part of the Cunard sub culture, ship nut and or regular cruiser on Cunard. In this Colonials opinion.
  20. Haydens Pies at South Ulladulla (45 minutes north of me) have a great range of normal and gf pies, cakes, etc. I often go up there to get a supply. They just won the best pie in NSW award. Spot on dogs eyes and complimentary sauce, eat in or take away.
  21. Quids went out here in 1966 young Geoffrey. Lol.
  22. Ah, A couple of speshul Aussie Cunarders there, think I know them, lol. Good to see you upholding the Cunard Tradition.
  23. I have a thought, now if the Aussie pax on Cunard promised to wear Tux/dinner suit in the dining rooms, even Britannia restaurant and buffet…then Cunard may return to the colonies down under. The Brit Cunarders would be content then.
