  1. The boats leave from the harbour at the base of the Stradun. (If you come through the Pile Gate, walk all the way down the Stradun). There are lots of hawkers selling all sorts of tours there. You can buy tickets there in a shop near the clocktower, before you pass through the gate and into the harbour.
  2. No. I have found that the whatsinport website is not accurate. You will need to find the actual port website (if you can) and often they are not up to date.
  3. Yes and in our opinion, thankfully so. We much preferred the falconry demonstration and tour. The falls is pretty, but there are lots of better ones. When we were there, it was very hot and there were a lot of stairs to climb back up to the bus. We waited at the top for at least 30 minutes (no shade) for the stragglers in the group. However, the falconry visit made it a great day and is not to be missed in our opinion!🙂
  4. I think they let you know well ahead where you will be docking around Venice. That's our experience and that jives with what I've read on this board for some time before our Empires and Odyssey cruises. We were fortunate in May/June to have docked in Chioggia which is a lovely port. Having said that, we also had a chat with the GM while on board and he said that most of the future dockings, but not all, would be in Fusina.
  5. Your photos are phenomenal as always. But looking at your middle photo, there's something to be said for aft cabins. 😉
  6. Yes, when you are booking excursions, spa, silver spirits, etc. on MVJ online, you will be paying in CAD. When you are onboard and book any excursions, etc., you will be paying in USD.
  7. That's the great thing about Cruise Critic. You learn so much more information on each thread than was intended!
  8. We have found in the past that there are more available if you call.
  9. We’ve been in both 8000 and 8001 several times. We really like the location and its proximity to the Explorers Lounge. It’s like having the EL as your living room. Neither of these cabins were ever categorized as handicapped and there weren’t any problems with door slamming or overhead noise in either cabin. However, on one cruise we had 8010 because the cabin that we booked had maintenance issues. There was a very noticeable noise problem from the sports deck above. in regards to the “secret door”, I believe that is in reference to deck 7, not deck 8. The doors to the EL on deck 8 are perfectly obvious, not secret. They are used pretty much only by people with cabins on deck 8.
  10. You're right. The photo above is from the Viscount lot. The trains into the terminal from the lot stop at the lot every few minutes. It's extremely easy. If we decide to drive, that's what we do and we are always looking for a deal at Viscount and often get one. At the Viscount lot, there is a grace period of one hour before and one hour after your allotted time.
  11. Or just take a photo of where you parked. Easy, peasy.🙂 Nothing difficult about it at all.
  12. But if it's the US version, you shouldn't pass it off as the English or British version. BTW London pub food is the best! 🙂 Just sayin'
  13. I think madmedic is asking about a shuttle service from Chioggia to Venice during the afternoon on the day the ship leaves port.
  14. @madmedic Another way to gather information is to read the roll calls and you might also want to start one for your cruise.
  15. @CurlerRob We booked Far East and Alaska in August 2022. I've also noticed a lot of price turbulence on the Hong Kong flight. A couple of weeks ago the fare was up $2300pp from when we booked!! Now it has settled down to around +$500pp. So thanks for the heads up on that! Our hotel in Kowloon for 3 nights has been fairly steady. Also, our New Zealand, Australia & Indonesia cruise in 2025 has increased by 16%. IMO it pays to book early for many reasons. We have our eye on an Iceland cruise for 2026 and will book that as soon as it becomes available.
  16. There are many, many threads here on the topic of how to get from Chioggia to Venice. We have spent a lot of time in Venice in the past and that wasn't something that interested us. Enjoy!
  17. These times are for the May/June sailing of Empires of the Mediterranean. Your more accurate times will be on your invoice. Because you are travelling at a different time of year, your port departure times (and possibly your ports) might differ: May 31 Venice 8pm June 1 Koper 6pm June 2 Zadar 4pm June 3 Dubrovnik 11pm June 4 Kotor 3pm June 5 Corfu 5pm June 6 Katakolon 4pm June 7 Santorini 6pm There were a few times when all passengers were back on board and the ship left port early. Hope this helps.
  18. But you’re on the West Coast. We were on the East Coast at the time. 😴😵‍💫
  19. If you are going to Zadar, the Falconry tour was one of our favourites on a 3 week cruise.
  20. In June: Zadar 4pm Dubrovnik 11pm Kotor 3pm
  21. We usually end up cancelling most of the reservations we’ve made online on “dining reservation day”. If we get a hankering to go to Manfredis or Chefs Table we just show up. There have been times where the people ahead of us in line are there to cancel their reservation and their table has become available. But very often the maître d’ will say “Come back in 15 minutes and we’ll seat you.” It’s somewhat embarrassing for me to admit that when we were booked for our first Viking cruise a long time ago, I got up very, very early in the morning to make these “special” reservations. Lesson learned!
  22. Haha. I am mathematically challenged. Thankfully DH is a mathematician!
  23. Our Amazon cruise has increased by 8%, but our Far East and Alaska cruise has increased by 17%!! assuming we pay by e-cheque in both cases.
