  1. It would be great if AC had the nonstop to SJ when we are flying in January 2024, but alas no -- unless they add it back in now that we've booked AA.🙄 We flew a lot with Jet Blue when we had a place in Florida. We really like Jet Blue.
  2. Yummy. We had a fruit-topped one for DH's birthday on our last cruise and another for my birthday on the same cruise -- for that one they were out by a couple of months lol. Yes, very good and we shared both with the housekeeping staff and they thought it was quite a treat!
  3. From Toronto we used to be able to get to San Juan nonstop with Air Canada and Air Transat. Now, we have to stop in Miami. We like Miami so we have no problem overnighting there and then flying to SJ. I think Air Transat might have a nonstop from Montreal once or twice a week.
  4. Thank you for the very nice photos of Halifax. We are vacationing several kms. south of you and after 3 weeks of on and off rainy weather, today was a gorgeous day. I'm glad you got to enjoy it too.
  5. We are trying to repair our reputation? 🍷🍺🥂😇 Liquor outlets and bars must be closed while in port. Under no circumstances should liquor be given or sold to visiting Canadian residents, shore personnel, or stevedoring personnel while the ship is in port. ....... The CBSA will conduct spot checks to ensure compliance and this privilege will be revoked if any bar is open without permission or if any Canadian resident visitor, shore personnel, or stevedoring personnel is served in a bar. In addition, monetary penalties may be assessed to the cruise line. https://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/travel-voyage/cscp-pdnc-eng.html
  6. I'm sorry to read this. We will definitely be keeping an eye on the situation. I'm thinking "e-visa", but I'm just concerned how long that will take.
  7. Beautiful! And a very nice time of day for a sail away. Thanks for posting the photos.
  8. A couple of weeks ago, I got a prompt from CC on this website about the app. Since you all have been talking about it, I was intrigued and I've looked into it further -- app store, CC website, etc. and can no longer find any info on it. Given this dialogue it seems to be more trouble than it's worth and I think I'll stick to the browser.
  9. I think it depends on the agency. With our current agent, our OBC shows up after we are onboard. With a previous large agent that dealt with automobiles 😉, we were able to use the OBC to book excursions, etc. Either way, it has worked out for us.
  10. For us, up until our cruise in January 2020, they were always online with the dates the menus would be offered. It was much simpler when booking dining reservations at Chef's Table.
  11. It really was better before when they posted the menus online on MVJ. I really think that would eliminate a lot of hassle with people trying to book Chef's Table on their "dining reservation booking day". Once we are onboard, we always look at what the menus are for the days we have it booked and more often than not, we end up cancelling.
  12. Is it possible that Viking wants to block X amount of $ on the card and that isn't available on the card?
  13. So many people change their minds once onboard -- as uktog mentioned above. I'm sure you will have no problem.
  14. https://www.ivisa.com/brazil/blog/brazil-visa-requirements-for-canadians#:~:text=Yes%2C Canadians are eligible to,application isn't open yet It's third party, but it says that Canadians can apply online beginning in January. Of course our concern is that it doesn't help us personally because our trip is in January and final payment is due at the end of next month. At the moment we are considering cancelling.
  15. As TayanaLorna suggested you might want to join the roll call. Here’s the link We try to stay up to date with all the roll calls for this cruise. There’s a ton of good info there.
  16. @endlessflight We are departing Manaus on January 31st. We have a single booking for this trip with American Airlines that we booked directly with AA. It consists of a nonstop flight from Manuaus to Miami at a decent time and then the second leg to Toronto the next morning. We paid for premium (basically that means the seat between us is empty). We were not able to book it as two separate bookings; it had to be one. On our cruise many people are returning to Miami on Viking charters. It’s possible they will do the same for your cruise.
  17. Haha! You must have been on our cruise. Because of the F1 race it was impossible to get back to the ship. I loved watching the trucks bring in the cars from all over the world and talking to all the security people when we were walking the track. Most of all, I really enjoyed taking all the great photos from the track and sending them back to our F1-loving sons. That was a fun day with many unexpected detours. 👍
  18. Or, we often take our food from the Pool Grill onto the Aquavit.
  19. Lunch at the Pool Grill before you unpack 😊 Enjoy!
  20. That looks very nice! Please post photos of your private garden. Enjoy!🙂
  21. I love it and I wish I’d thought of it!! I’m always hand washing things too. This is sooo much better than using the flimsy cord across the shower. I will definitely be testing out our magnetic hooks on our next cruise in January. Thanks for posting it. 😊
  22. This! From another thread. But I like the idea 😊
  23. I’ve tried using it several times. The latest — and forever last — was last year. We were in Imerovigli on Santorini. We decided to go into Fira for lunch and to visit a woodworker’s shop for a particular gift. If you have ever been to Santorini, you know how crowded it can get. For whatever reason, I couldn’t find the Santorini port information and against my better judgment, I used the aforementioned website. Only 2 cruise ships in port that day. Perfect! That would be manageable. But actually there were six. The tiny laneways of Fira were impossible to navigate.
