  1. No. They are a fire hazard. But you can bring this: https://www.amazon.ca/Downy-Wrinkle-Release-Releaser-Travel/dp/B01L6TI7TE/ref=asc_df_B01L6TI7TE/?tag=googleshopc0c-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=459371790153&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=17735475640307613782&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9001010&hvtargid=pla-1456302450902&psc=1
  2. A note to the General Manager before the end of the cruise goes a long way. In our experience, the outstanding crew members are recognized within their departments and are very gratified that their efforts have been appreciated.
  3. We found out on our last cruise that the mirror is lighted only when the main switch at the door is turned on.
  4. Yeah, my DH just agreed with your DH. 😀 We think the ES2s have a lot of features that aren't in the forward cabins. However, they are a long way from the "action". What is your opinion?
  5. @bookbabe Did you stay in 5001 in February?
  6. We always book our cruises with Viking and then transfer our booking to our TA. If we like the itinerary and if the type of stateroom we prefer is available, we will book it pretty quickly. Our TA is 3 time zones away and is probably just getting into the office by the time we have booked it. 🙂 We like our TA very much. She's very attentive and she has fixed quite a few problems for us with Viking and with a couple of airlines, which is no doubt very frustrating for her. And she's right there with us when we change our plans. @Heidi13 Thanks!
  7. I don't think I would like to repeatedly use alcohol-based gels and wipes on my hands, but at the door to the World Cafe there is a wash basin which would be handy to use after placing your plate on the table. A wipe would be good to clean your placemat after you choose your table.
  8. Long weekend here too! Canada Day 🇨🇦 Yay! Please come back and tell us how that went.🙂

  10. 1. Yes. The bathrooms have bar soap at both the sink and in the shower. 2. On our last cruise, there were 2 umbrellas supplied in the cabin. So, I believe there is probably one for every passenger. 3. Yes, a short sleeve collared shirt and long pants are acceptable in the restaurants in the evening. The World Cafe is much more casual. Enjoy!
  11. Same for us a couple of weeks ago coming through YUL.
  12. Here is a recent informative thread on the subject. It might give you an idea of what you should be looking for in the way of compensation.
  13. Which is why they have a paper towel dispenser near the door with a sign to use the paper towel to open the door and then toss the paper towel into the garbage. It's very handy and easy. I use it all the time and wish more peeps used it.
  14. We stayed at the Electra Palace on June 9th for 2 nights. The 1 bedroom suite was rather dated. It had a beautiful terrace with a lovely view of the Acropolis. The roof top restaurant is beautiful, but the food, not so much. The hotel is thankfully very close to the Plaka district. Next time, we will give it a miss. The Athens Gate is another hotel we are looking at.
  15. In our country they told us that the vaccine was 95% effective in preventing us from being hospitalized from getting Covid. We are both vaccinated to the max (lost count!) and we have both had Covid.
  16. We are currently on Viking Sea. We talked to a couple who were in Venice for 2 days before they met the ship in Chioggia. They had a 2 day hop-on-hop-off pass which they purchased for 35Euros. They were able to use that to transport them to Chioggia. Also, check out the ACTV ferry website.
  17. We just left Kotor 2 hours ago so I guess we were there at the same time. I think you were there before we arrived this morning, but you had to tender and we were able to dock. The sailaway was really beautiful. One of the best we’ve seen.
  18. Our experience is: Yes No No Yes - and then when you see the menus once you board, change your reservations. Once upon a time, the menus were available to view on MVJ before your dining reservation window opened. IMO it is unfortunate that Viking no longer provides this information. Having said that, their approach seems to be working. I have heard no complaints since we’ve been on board 😊
  19. Basically we go through various phases. When we are first able to book, we book the excursions and dining we think we want based on available information. When things get closer, naturally we read more or get feedback from CC posters which helps to verify or contradict our initial assumptions. When we actually get here, we get to know things about the area and about how much stamina we have and we make adjustments. For the restaurants, we like some of the chef’s table menus but not all. Once these become fixed we again try to make adjustments
  20. We had access to excursions for our B2B on the same day we were eligible to book the first cruise. That has its drawbacks. For example, we are on the tail end of the Grand Explorer next year. The Grand Explorer sails in February I believe, but we don’t join it until April.
  21. You’re right, We have cancelled and rebooked almost all of our Viking excursions since boarding on May 19. We were waitlisted for a very short period of time. We have also cancelled and rebooked most of our dining reservations — most recently today. We were able to get the days and times we wanted with zero problems.
  22. We have started the second segment of a b2b Med cruise. The cruise has been fabulous in every way. Your comment above certainly applied to the first part of the cruise. However, the second part is very different. It is made up of many tour groups and the age is very much younger than you would usually see on a Viking cruise.
  23. I’m surprised by all the Viking steak haters here. On Sea in March and on Sea now, I’ve had the rib eye in Manfredis several times and it has always been delicious and perfectly done medium rare. It’s not thin at all. A half order is too much for me. Maybe it varies from ship to ship. 😊
  24. Hi cmmaxwell03. We are on our cruise now. I have a few hair appliances with me. Our bags were x-rayed and carry-ons searched. There were no problems.
