  1. No dog in this fight, but lots of these pics do not look like the result of "substandard" levy system. It was a monster storm. https://www.istockphoto.com/photos/hurricane-katrina
  2. Not sure of that, there are options that fit under the bridges
  3. Baltimore is a great homeport for Carnival, among the highest persistency they have. The problem with adding a ship is the limited number of ports to go to, like Long Beach to a certain degree.
  4. What did I misrepresent. They give an educated (granted) guess (yup, that is what it is) on path intensity and strength. People base their actions on these guesses. I know there are many factors, but in the real life scenario, the storm changes, against science, past history and the experts. Happens more often than not and it affects the way people react to the various levels of notice given. the affect of that is that the crying wolf so many times for such a large variety of paths and timing, makes people become immune, which can have disastrous results. Recently (Ian in September 22, after the storm they said the cone was just a “guide”. Might have better to say that before the storm…. The storm (up to 6 hours before) was supposed to hit north of Tampa. The reality was a miss by 120 miles. Too late for some to react. Obviously they do the best they can do. But that said, I would give them a grade on C-
  5. Bingo, we have a winner. Careful now, it IS their vacation.
  6. The turn up towards Galveston is an interesting one as you mention regarding homeports. Just another example that shows that forecasting hurricanes is def not a science.
  7. I think you are reading way to much into it. Carnival took over P&O Australia and only wanted the two ships. Part of the reason is they want to ensure they have toe most ships of any cruise line. There may be other reasons, such as where they can sail that others cannot, but I reallt doubt any of it has to do with Margaritaville at sea, despite thoughts to the contrary.
  8. For some of the med, Joe. Bananas has a bunch of tours (ROme not among my favorites tho) and Viator has a bunch of options also.
  9. You will be fine. A trip of a lifetime. If you want more assistance let us know, we can map it out.
  10. VAtican is a HUGE museum, literally miles of it. There are other things, like the Catacombs, ST Peters, and of course the Sistine Chapel. All good. Spanish steps are so so, Trevi Fountains good Have not done San Giovanni in Laterno.
  11. Not sure i would consider that a curveball or a home run. That is a fantastic deal.
  12. Obviously they do not care about rules…. I do not know when in the cruise this happened (do not care enough to go back and check either), but if there is a port after, put them off on the pier. If not, give them a final wave after the cruise.
  13. I am pretty sure that fuel surcharge was in place a time or two, but not certain. Ypu mean after the fact as in final payment? At the end of the day, the price is the price. I never got wrapped up in any component.
  14. It is not punishment, it is removing the element.
  15. Nice place and nice post. Skip the line is DEF the way to go. Rome can be a once and done place, depends on the person. The Pantheon, how it was built and the interior (def not the exterior) amazes me. Not sure if it came up already or not, but Santa Maria Majorie is def worth the visit.
  16. Could care less, having them gone is the goal.
