  1. A couple of thoughts, I was just on the Dawn, Stockholm to Copenhagen. 1. They were checking arrival times in Stockholm and asking people to wait until close to their specified time- this was about 10 am. 2. According to the Freestyle Daily, you could exchange for Euros and Swedish Krona at guest services. But I have no idea what exchange rate they were using.
  2. I'm with you on that one - I've told them soooo many times that it would be nice if they offered alternatives for those of us with allergies. I can't do the chocolate covered strawberries either.
  3. They should be listed under "extraordinary journeys' You can also go to cruisrmapper and check by ship when it changes location.
  4. Cruise ships arriving in Copenhagen dock at the Freeport Cruise Terminal, located in an industrial harbor and the cruise ship terminal Langelinie. (google search) I took the post-cruise excursion. Had a 5:30 flight, we got to the airport by about 2:30. Tour included city tour, shopping in the city center, and a 1hr canal tour - including the little mermaid.
  5. NCL uses the term connecting when there is an interior door connecting 2 adjacent rooms. An adjacent room may or may not have a connecting door. Adjoining simply means next to.
  6. Just off the Dawn, Stockholm to Copenhagen. Embarkation was crowded when I went, which is always going to be the case, not sure how people expect otherwise- it takes time to process people, no matter how organized and efficient. And they were checking arrival times and asking people to wait. We also had about 900 onboard, never any crowds in restaurants. Our entertainment was excellent, although the vocalist for 2 shows left when we did. No circus act for us, although there were aerialists in the final show (Elements), so perhaps they arrived during the cruise in preparation for the next cruise.
  7. Once you book an excursion for a specific port, you will no longer see any excursions that have conflicting times. Hence people will see different availability once they start booking. Not a good design (and I have told them so many times) but not a glitch either.
  8. As far as I know they do not hold excursion spaces- they would have no reason to do so, since excursions have to be paid in advance. But they might add an additional bus if they can, so additional spaces might open up. They do hold back dining reservations however
  9. The salesman basically quoted their policy- which is out the window these days because flights are a nightmare now, nobody can promise anything. NCL is at the mercy of the airlines just like anyone else and they do what they can. Sometimes the only option is a late flight. Speaking as someone who recently ended up with an overnight layover because my original flights got cancelled - fortunately I had a planned to arrive a day early, so made it to my cruise on time. And now sitting in the airport with a 6 hr delay on my way home, hoping the airline is planning to get everyone rebooked (that's what they are saying). Called NCL (they do answer, just takes a long time) and they offered to rebook but waiting for now to see what the airline does.
  10. Seattle also has a reservation system akin to TSA pre-check. Never used it because I have pre-check but the details would be on the airport web page. Might save a little time but traffic is probably the biggest hurdle, not the airport check-in. Flights before 11 or 12 can be nails biters!
  11. On the Dawn now, wine tasting reinstated beginning this cruise , no $25/$50 obc. Also no letter allowing restaurant substitution. Don't know if this is fleet wide or specific to each ship.
  12. I have the opposite itinerary next month but leaving from the west coast. My home airport to Seattle to Reykjavik. Return is London to LAX to home. Very happy with the flights. As direct as possible from my location.
  13. With all the issues with airlines it's hard to say. Their policy used to say they didn't but I had an overnight layover in order to get to Stockholm for the cruise I'm on right now. But it was a last minute flight change so might have been all they could find. Original itinerary had me arriving the evening before, as requested - not sure what would have happened if I hadn't had that 1day deviation planned.
  14. Is there a logical reason? Yes, NCL is doing what is best, from a business sense, to be able to book flights and keep from losing money. It's their program, their rules. Just like the final pay date and other deadlines that may seem arbitrary to those of us who aren't privy to how airfares are determined and negotiated with the airlines. For my most recent trip I got my airfare info about 30 days out. And the update came 2 days before I was scheduled to fly out - so I had to completely change my plans, etc. because of airline cancellations, strikes, who knows.
  15. Apparently you can't check in online for International flights - I've run into that a couple of times recently. United has it set up that you can send a picture of your passport so you can get checked in and didn't need the actual passport at the airport. But getting the image just right did take a bit of effort.
  16. Recent experience (on a layover in Munich right now), opposite itinerary as deelightful. Originally booked from my small airport in Oregon to Denver, then Heathrow to Stockholm. Heathrow to Stockholm was a SAS subsidiary, supposedly not affected by the strike. Thursday, 2 days before I was scheduled to leave I got a new flight schedule (almost missed it because it came same time as upgrade notices, new invoices etc). New flight only got me to London -oops. So an hour or so on the phone to get new flights. New schedule is SFO to Munich (5+ hr layover in SFO), Munich to Stockholm (12+ hr overnight layover). So instead of my planned overnight in Stockholm, I arrive 8:15am, day of cruise. But I can't fault NCL (other than the ending in London part) - I'm assuming the airlines caused the changes. Had I booked it myself I'm guessing it would have taken me a lot longer to get new flights, etc. My flights back from Copenhagen are perfect at this point - to Reykjavik to Seattle to home, the most "direct" route possible. International flights normally include luggage. Seat assignment policies vary. I chose my seats on United and Iceland air, Lufthansa assigned seats at check-in. I'm solo, so more flexibility.
  17. I think you missed the point. If you are using points to upgrade, it is 60k in points to upgrade from inside to balcony or $800 & 30k in points in this scenario. I usually book ov and use my points to upgrade to balcony but looking at a spendy So Africa cruise and also debating which way to go.
