  1. This noise thing seems to be restricted to the Vista, right?
  2. Authentic birria is available all over Southern California (even from fast food drive-thrus.) A local family I know will serve it for celebrations. This family has been local since before California became a state in 1849, so I take the food as the real thing. My favorite taco story is the place in Paris advertising "tacos" which were folded pita bread. I don't object if a cruise ship opens a Mexican restaurant, but I don't have to eat there.
  3. I guess humor is not a feature on this board. Oh well.
  4. It hasn't happened yet. 🙂 It's a rule of thumb--the farther away from the county of origin, the less delicious the food. I guess one learns to put up with the less delicious if that's all that is available. Of course, with the globalization happening in the world, more and more people are leaving their native countries and some of those open restaurants in far flung places (like Vegas?🙂)
  5. I have had some very good tacos in Sacramento.
  6. One thing I never do is eat at a Mexican restaurant outside a border state. Definitely not on a cruise ship.
  7. That's how it was on the lasr R ship I sailed. My pizza friend will not be happy.
  8. The pizza lover traveling with me wants to know about Nautica. The last R class ship I sailed had pizza in a corner of the buffet, sort of like an afterthought. Do they do that on Nautica? Is pizza available at the Waves Grill? Is it available through room service? Can my person get some outside of lunch/dinner hours? Again, thanks for your patient answers to a newbie.
  9. Threads go off here and there... I try to read the whole thing before asking a question.
  10. So let's see if I get this right. I can call O to add the premium drink package and the current SM regular package I have will be credited and amount to only a $30/day cost? (I tried to do this on the website and it didn't work.) If only my husband needs the premium package, I don't also need to get it? We can wait until we are on the ship to decide? (Gosh, that all seems so sensible compared to Princess, etc, where the draconean policies leave one little personal choice.) I may be up to speed with all of this by the time we sail in October! 🙂 I thank all of you for your patient help.
  11. SM question: with the standard SM package, are drinks in the casino while gambling an extra cost? What about just a beer or glass of wine? Would it be worth it to add the premium option just for a situation like this? We are new to O and husband has asked this question.
  12. I was referring to the promotional ad on the website that literally says "free excursions." Obviously nothing is "free" so hence my question.
  13. Newbie on Oceania. I don't understand the excursions part of Simply more. I see there is a credit for excursions, and I assume that makes it "free." I see also that there are reduced prices for SM. Can someone please enlighten me? Many thanks.
  14. ðŸĪĢI think that's illegal on some ships.
  15. This isn't my first HAL cruise, but I still can't figure out that website. My confirmation doc says I have "confirmed main" dining. Does this mean traditional fixed dining? There is no time listed, so is there a second seating option? Do I need to wait until I'm on board to find out? Last time, I had fixed dining late seating and really enjoyed it. I'm not so crazy about making nightly reservations or showing up just to wait in line.
  16. Haha. Well, for one thing, the captain's table dining takes place there, but it's only a small part of the room....
  17. After adding up all the nickels and dimes, it might not be too far off from an Oceania fare.😁
  18. Not to mention all the duplicate threads started by people who don't see this one... Yep, Princess may have really stepped in it this time. Happy, Pagett?
  19. When Padget find out the IC is free, he'll stop that nonsense! 😒
  20. Ah, the New Princess. Charge for something that once was free and call it "no additional charge." Padgett thinks we are all dimwits. 😒
  21. How so? Did people just show up and demand to get on the tender?
  22. I really should know this, but I haven't taken advantage of priority tendering since becoming Elite (a bunch of years ago.) I always figured I could just get in the queue with everyone else. However, there's a tender port coming up on a future cruise and I need to be off the ship ASAP. So, educate me. How does it work? (I know it's only for ship to shore not vice versa.)
  23. I think the brand is dependant on itinerary. You won't find Cosco water on a ship sailing out of the UK. We just did Norway and the water was just fine, IMO. I don't remember the brand, but it wasn't anything I recognized from the USA.
  24. They can change the medallions for you on the ship or on the dock. It won't be a problem.
