The whole thing is too much like gambling for me. I would be a nervous wreck trying to second guess the suits at Princess.

Theme nights in the buffet are not new. Been around forever. A little note in the cabin is new.

Website was easier when everything was there, including dining. The app is a disaster, always has been, won't improve.

Even on Princess, no one is going to turn you away if you do decide to dress up. Just because the standards appear to be relaxed, nothing prevents anyone going full tux and ball gown if that's what they prefer.

DH finds some bridge partners and plays cards every day. I find a nice place to settle in and read one of the many books I have loaded on the Kindle for the trip. If you're on the right ship, it seems to me there is always something happening in Princess Live. Sea days are good for leisurely MDR breakfasts.

We took a Princess excursion from Wellington to Christchurch. Bus ride. Beautiful scenery.

International Cafe has brewed coffee and specialty coffees, including decaf. You can get iced tea in the buffet or through room service. The buffet coffee is not the best.

Mine is gone. Of the current supply of really big ships, I like the Regal. It was the second of the Royal class ships and they fixed the bugs from the first one (Royal). It was also before they got too nutty with all the bells and whistles of the later ships.

There is a difference between an account on the app and an account with Princess Cruises. DH is allergic to technology, and I have always done the registrations, etc. He does not have a separate login for the web site, but he does have a Captain's Circle number and gets all the loyalty benefits he's entitled to. He definitely does not have an app login. He appears on my app account as my travel companion, and he's fine with that. It is not necessary to have separate logins on any device in order to manage a cruise for both of you. (DH mourns the old days when the much anticipated cruise docs showed up in the mail.)🙂

Majestic has lots of those banquette seats with tables for two only inches apart.

I would not place too much confidence in a YouTube video. The creator has edited it to fit his point of view. If he doesn't like kids, he can make it look like the place is thick with them. Watch a few videos by other creators and other ships. Just keep in mind that the creators are showing you only what they want you to see.

Maybe that wasn't due to being Elite but just old and grumpy.

The Garden Salad is just a plain lettuce and veggies salad with your choice of dressing, and it's perfect if you don't want a frou frou salad from the adult menu.

One of those has a trip to Christchurch. Wellington? Anyway, Christchurch (NZ) is fascinating because of the earthquake damage. I don't know if they have rebuilt everything yet. One interesting thing was the "mall" made out of shipping containers since the buildings were all knocked down.

I have been taking grandchildren on cruises since they were in diapers. They have collections of blue cruise cards. After the medallions appeared, their color went from blue to gray. They were so excited to be Platinum and getting the appropriate color. Of course, they were children.

I was under the impression that they stopped the full ship tours with covid. My SIL did one years ago that he still talks about. It was very popular once.

I have known people who ordered the fettucine every night of the cruise. Anything Princess calls "Mama's" or the like is suspect. Grandma's Coq au Vin is the worst thing the ever put on a plate. I'm doing the Sky next month. We shall see.
