A Flights by Celebrity error that worked to my favor.
Homosassa replied to Stockjock's topic in Celebrity Cruises
Why is it that when you are being slick and proud of yourself for getting something for nothing and the manipulation is caught and changed back to what you contracted for, you get angry at the cruise line and not yourself?- 134 replies

Just how much of a problem ARE interlopers in the YC?
Homosassa replied to mafig's topic in MSC Cruises
I have no idea what you mean even after looking at the Urban Dictionary. I certainly would never think of myself as "dumb as f***k" (UD definition. As it appears that you might be having trouble with the ideas that were subtly implied in my post, let me state them in two simple sentences: 1. Mind your own business. 2 Don't judge a book by its cover. -
Just how much of a problem ARE interlopers in the YC?
Homosassa replied to mafig's topic in MSC Cruises
Personally, I can't see spending my time on a ship policing and deciding which passenger belongs where, taking photos and tracking down the ship's officers to show them my documentation. It reminds me of the renters who would rent one of the homes by us in the Keys and then would fuss about the "homeless" person pushing a beat up shopping cart and picking up cans, plastic bags, and other garbage along the highway and other streets. They would fuss until someone would explain that the homeless bum was one of the richest people on the island and he was doing his bit to keep the Key clean. -
Nothing worse than being in the water and getting wet from rain....

Can room attendant connect balconies on Celebration?
Homosassa replied to USU_Aggie's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
While they can be connected, you will need to ask your cabin steward if they can be opened for your cruise. You may be told no (Captain's decision as to whether balconies can be opened). -
Cabins are still available through at least one large on line travel agent. Unfortunately, I can not post the TA's name here.

Giggling - make sure you ask the pizza guy for pineapple on your pizza to go with the white chocolate cappuccino....

I read your previous thread from 2022 where you stated that your son will only eat banana yogurt. Just an FYI in case this is the food service supplier for your cruise: On numerous cruises on lines across different companies/corporations, I have noticed that many have a food service supplier of Upstate Farms for yogurt and other dairy products. Upstate Farms, per their website, does not have banana yogurt in their food service packs. The closest that may be available is banana strawberry.

On boarding the ship - do all in room need to get on together
Homosassa replied to mantle's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
There are several issues with your scenario. 1. You and your wife have booked cabins based on a special offer (casino??). Check the restrictions to determine if the passenger that the rates apply to must be present to check in with the other passengers in the cabin. 2.The minors (anyone under twenty one not traveling with a parent in the same cabin or reservation number) may need to have a designated guardian in the cabin with them (notarized letter from parent). The minors will need to have the designated adult for their cabin with them to check in (the seven year old will not be allowed to check into a cabin that has no adult present). You may have issues at check in and should be prepared with any possible documents. -
While a cruise line will try to accommodate special needs such as diet or accessibility, there is a limit on what they can do and accommodate. There may be an issue with the availability of supplies required (specific brand names, flavors, etc) and the cruise line will not be able to guarantee their availability on board ship. The statement that this is a medically required condition also kicks in the "Fitness to Travel" clause in the ticket contract. You may need to cancel. https://www.carnival.com/about-carnival/legal-notice/ticket-contract.aspx?icid=CC_Footer_84

Are you sure the change hasn't been made? Go to the Carnival website, log in (or get an account) and check your cruise. The passengers on the same reservation number as you will show up. If the other passengers have a different reservation number, the passenger owner of the reservation may have to request the change.

Your reasoning is faulty. Your friend did not pay to downgrade to a lesser room. He paid to go from the lower fare category of a guaranteed cabin to the always higher priced option of choosing his cabin. The fact that he was lucky enough to receive what NCL may think of as a higher price cabin in the guaranteed gamble is not a factor. The cabin value is the guaranteed fare he paid for it with all its attendant restrictions. He is now paying to chose his preferred cabin location of low and, hopefully, amidships.

Excursions not booked thru the cruise line
Homosassa replied to Steve in Omaha's topic in Norwegian Cruise Line
This is a generalized response to cover variations on ship clearance by local authorities, tendering procedures when tendering and other conditions that may apply to different itineraries or under port conditions the day of the port call. The actual time that you may depart the ship or are required to be back on board will be available the day of the port call. Take any scheduled times or dates that appear in a published itinerary itinerary as what is planned, but may not happen the day of the port visit. Also be aware if you are thinking that you can contact the excursion operators in port once on board the ship but before arrival in the port, that cell phone service and satellite based internet service may be disrupted or not available at times as the mountains block signals (can affect TV programs in the cabins as well). -
Viking Ocean has a superb traditional tea every afternoon in the Wintergarden on their itineraries.

Another name for flip flops that was also less commonly used was zori or zories. Those that used zori usually knew someone that had served in the Pacific in WW II.
-
Like some many things on the internet, this is inaccurate. I grew up in the metropolitan NYC area and I can assure you flip flops were called flip flops back in the 50s, 60s, etc. The word throng was not used for the plastic beach flip flops. A pair of flip flops at John's Bargain stores (chain in the Northeast and Midwest) were ten cents a pair in the fifties and it was a rite of summer to buy a pair for summer. Of course, we were barefooted most of the time so the flip flop didn't get much use.

They have been around for a very long time. Thong underwear was a specialty form of underwear available for certain "dancing" styles and allowed the wearer to meet local laws regarding coverage when performing. They are also known as a G string.
-
Started wearing flip flops (as they were called then and still are) in approximately 1958. They were the rubber "beach" flip flop. A thong was/is a form of underwear.

Re: Talk me off the ledge.....or plank....
Homosassa replied to Majkman's topic in Celebrity Cruises
My last two Celebrity cruises, Constellation 2/2022 and Millennium 6/2023, had my cabin moved without any prior notification. The new cabin on the Constellation was acceptable, the one on the Millennium was not in anyway acceptable as to size or location. I insisted on a cabin equivalent to the one I had originally booked. It took several hours on embarcation day, but we received a better cabin two hours after sailing. -
has statue of liberty been standard on NJ cruises?
Homosassa replied to luckyinpa's topic in Celebrity Cruises
When cruising from Bayonne port, your view of the Statue of Liberty will be from a distance. It will be from the rear, then the side as you pass by. Unless the ship turns into the Hudson River Channel through the harbor, you will not get a closer front view. -
Is Liberty of the Sea too big???
Homosassa replied to Dona March's topic in Royal Caribbean International
LOL - another cruiser who enjoys cruising and being on a ship and doesn't cruise to do the things one can do on shore (waterparks, amusement rides, Broadway shows, etc). We call the larger ships Beehives of the Seas.
