  1. Very good observation about pulling the rooms to drive interest in them and once they reopen people are so happy to see them they are willing to pay any price.
  2. Your comments are ours as well. Started with a "great" TA that our relatives recommended and used to book their 6 or so cruises a year. We only cruised once a year and she gave us almost no attention, didn't track the price of our cruise and would return our calls about 3-4 days later. I ended up doing all the work and would just give it to her to enter into the computer. I easily could do it and all we ever received was a bottle of champagne and my husband prefers wine. We have used a big box store for years as they have the hours open that work with us. I was fine with their service until I found that the total due for an upcoming cruise was different from what Celebrity told me was due. The glitch happened after a price adjustment and I spent hours correcting this with Big Box store. We now book directly with Celebrity as I want full control to make changes or discuss our booking without going thru a middle man.
  3. I also use the laundry sheets and hand wash in the sink or for larger items I use the Scrubba Wash Bag. I have found I dissolve a partial laundry sheet and then add more warm water and add the clothes to soak. After about 30 minutes I "scrub" , rinse and then wring dry with a towel. It works great as we also have a portable hanging clothes line. Worked great earlier this year when we traveled for 34 days. We can get a bag of laundry done for free but there is no way I want my laundry handled with too hot of water or strong smelling detergents.
  4. We sailed this year on Queen Mary II right after the launch of Queen Anne. The people left on Queen Mary II were so salty that they weren't selected for the new ship launch.
  5. We are booked for the 7 day cruise that leaves November 30th. I was too nervous to book the first sailing but I bet it will be fun. We are making it side-to-side and staying in port to get on the 6 day cruise aboard Silhouette after xCel. With the cost of air fare and hotel stay I can't justify flying for a 7 day cruise...that's the excuse I gave my husband anyway 😊
  6. Thank you, I called them and it took a total of 1 hour between being on hold and them fixing the problem. It's taking several hours to receive emails from Celebrity but I saved on 5 different excursions. Rep mentioned that the computer problems started yesterday and he said it's worse today.
  7. Because of this listing I checked our upcoming bookings and found several of the excursions we have booked are cheaper. There is one that shows sold out and if I cancel and quickly rebook I am wondering if someone can do the same thing and take the last 2 slots. Instead can I call Celebrity and have them reprice the 6 different excursions ?
  8. Thank you @mahdnc for the background on the program. It makes sense that they started this up just to keep people interested in cruising. We have only been with Celebrity for 1 year so I wondered why there were so few offerings to add points. We came over from RC Diamond so we are happy being Elite as all we wanted was a quieter ship and better food.
  9. We usually booked with a big box agency and RC notified us by email about the change to our cruise. It has been so long what is your TA telling you ?
  10. On Celebrity they only give away the free drinks between 5 to 7 pm each night. There is a list of the drinks that are included for free at each bar. It is unlimited as I only get bottled water and I have asked for 6 bottles and it's no issue. You can't use the benefit while ordering in the dining room so my husband will get 2 glasses of wine and pour it into 1 glass to take to dinner.
  11. I have a cruise booked for April 2025 and have repriced it a few times when the price has lowered. In the category, Ocean View, there are two categories 01 and 02. I asked my TA if I can continue to reprice the cruise if the category I have purchased 01 is sold out ? He told me no that the ship has to have a room open to reflect the price in order to reprice. Is this correct as I would think Celebrity would still show a price for each category at each level ? Thanks for your input.
  12. We cruised on Apex March of this year. We did have booked a February 2025 cruise also on Apex but after returning home the first thing that we did was cancel the cruise. It wasn't the ship or the room but the crew. From Officers to Crew they were some of the most miserable people and wouldn't say hello or even break a smile. You can read my previous posts as I go in to detail but I will never cruise on Apex again.
  13. We are flying United Airlines over to Amsterdam and they didn't require full payment in order to assign our seats. We are flying Air Canada for the return flight and with only a deposit they would only "hold" seats for us. If we wanted to select our seats before the final payment was due we had to pay it in full. Since the flights are over 12 hours each way we elected to pay in full so we were able to sit together for both flights. I tried to pay in full for just the return flight but it's all together.
  14. CORRECTION: I was thinking of a Royal Caribbean ship Anthem of the Seas. We did two cruises back to back and I got them mixed up. The Anthem of the Seas library is on deck 6 which is inside the Two70 theater. Sorry for the confusion all of you were right, I was wrong.
  15. The library area was located above the Eden. You can only access it from deck 5 but it's located on deck 6. I did make a note in the review after the cruise that they need to add doors to the area to make it a quiet space. It was a heavily used area and the printers are located there so it should be a quiet area as every time we visited there were people using the space reading, playing board games and using the printers.
  16. When we first boarded the Apex this year we sat in the library because we wanted to avoid the crowd until the ship left the dock. There were two families that did just what you are thinking of doing. It was great because the families encouraged reading with their children and they brought a wide range of reading material from teenager to adult. Between them they unloaded about 6 tote bags full of books and I thanked them for the kindness.
  17. I have a April 2025 cruise booked where I have added the "Flights by Celebrity". I have repriced the cruise to a lower price twice and both times my TA has had to call Celebrity because she couldn't reprice it because the flights are added to booking. The flights are paid in full and this is the first time that I have ever booked flights thru Celebrity but it may be the last as this problem needs to be addressed. All other cruises I have repriced take no more than 20 minutes to complete but I am being penalized because I have included the "Flights by Celebrity".
  18. We booked a cruise to leave from Florida and visit the A,B,C islands. About two months after booking we received an email from Celebrity that they will be skipping Bonaire and staying overnight in Curacao. The email gave us an option to cancel but we love Curacao. I took a picture of the signage on the ship because we had never stayed overnight on a cruise except for Cuba. The only sign posted was that crew was due back but cruisers had no limitations.
  19. On RC we cruised on a 4 day and 3 day so we could visit Coco cay twice and it was still a 7 day cruise. It was on the same ship but we learned our lesson and never again. They were both a booze cruise and for the 3 day no one got at Nassau which ruined our quiet ship plan. Anymore due to the cost of airfare and hotel etc we now book two cruises back to back. In December we are cruising a 7 day followed by a 6 day.
  20. Does anyone track how often the price of a cruise can change ? I thought it was only once a day as we are booked for a 10 day cruise on Constellation for January 2025. I was able to get a lower price yesterday of just under a $100 savings. I repriced it this morning and it had gone up in price. A couple of hours ago I repriced the same cruise and it dropped in price again. In just two days I have saved $166 and now I am becoming obsessed with repricing so I can see how low this cruise will be by final payment.
  21. We just got off Apex and are very glad that you enjoyed your cruise because we did not. I have a food allergy and in the Oceanview Cafe there is usually a paper which names the dish and the 4 allergens of gluten free, lactose free etc. For our entire 7 day cruise there were many dishes that were missing the label entirely or it was not marked gluten free when it was. We talked to both the workers and the Chef and were told by several "yes, we know the label is wrong but it is gluten free". For the entire cruise we were told it would be corrected, it never was. We have cruised on a few other Celebrity ships and received great food and felt very safe that the food being served was gluten free. We will not return to Apex as staff generally were unhappy, both crew and supervisors wouldn't look at us and would hardly return a greeting if we greeted them.
  22. We had the same problem and once I called Celebrity showed that I actually had 2 accounts set up. The one I kept signing into only showed Select and when she deleted that account it showed Elite.
  23. We are going on our first Cunard Transatlantic and were surprised by the final payment due at the end of December for a May sailing. This is a trend that will continue and for us I am glad that we have travel insurance because so much can happen in 5 months.
