  1. ok, my father and I will be on a 9-night TA cruise from Portugal to New York next month; we are sailing in a club balcony suite. we also have a third person in the room (bronze level). this will be our first platinum sailing we also have our free at sea premium dining (i know the third guest will not get these) my question is: can the third person be the guest on the two platinum meal vouchers our stateroom will receive?
  2. correct; i was speaking more generally about people who do not pay the gratuities and then tip front house F&B and the room steward.
  3. rum.....good rum is amazing and my favorite spirit. i was 15 when i discovered rum....both gold and white and that i liked it neat; however, i have long long since outgrown Bacardi. this is my favorite ron zacapa is nice too
  4. i do that, but what about the crewmembers doing the most god awful jobs like laundry or kitchen utility?
  5. being the end of genX was beneficial too, i think. the whole latchkey kid / kids who raised themselves helped a lot. i was at MSU when i first heard the neologism "adulting" which is defined (yes, it is in the dictionary) as: the practice of behaving in a way characteristic of a responsible adult, especially the accomplishment of mundane but necessary tasks. "it feels really good to take a step back from adulting and have someone else cook dinner for me" there is even a book wow i and the people around me could adult at 16, and didnt even need the word.
  6. i at 42 am amazed by how "young people" are um .....delayed by like 3-5 years from where they use to be. i went to michigan state as an older student (i was 29-32) and i noticed it there strongly (ie a 21-year-old at MSU was very much like a 16-year-old in the 1990s and prior). anecdotal example, somehow i figured out a paystub and personal banking at 15 years old.....without handholding.
  7. i find it very odd than NCL removed Cap’n Morgan. Cap’n Morgan is like the bud light of spiced rum* *spiced rum is absolutely vile....real rum is so much better. i just wonder how many people were put of rum because their only experience with it is "spiced rum".
  8. yes, it can be the passenger's business, because they are ultimately ponying up the cash, thus they are the primary driver of the exchange. same goes for basic workplace saftey.
  9. yes, but you will need to use an incense to capture. if you're far enough away from land there isn't a "biome" so you'll get lots of types of pokemon. your captured pokemon will not have a location stamp. to the best of my knowledge, if you are in port and pulling the ships wifi you will not be catching in the local biome. load up on pokeballs and incense and the ships best internet package.
  10. well i started the reanimation of the thread, looking for that god awful song the poor staff is forced to sing.
  11. pineapples will have to suffice; flaming paper bags of dog poo dont go over well on a cruise ship.....they obviously violate the open flame rules.
  12. hahaha; to spice things up, first learn who the octogenarian couples are......and then apply to their door.
  13. cruisers with upside-down pineapples on their doors are known to be VERY social & they enjoy meeting new people.
  14. i knew my necroposting would be appreciated by at least one user.
  15. well that sucks and sucks hard. the library is one of my favorite things on the ship. always a day one activity. i always suspected this would happen; not only does it occupy space on a ship that doesn't generate revenue.... if you are in your stateroom reading a book you are not out spending money elsewhere. they can now use that space to nickel and dime us for something that use to be complementary.
  16. this. i was awarded platinum after completing my last cruise, and that is the important step: free laundry and a free premium meal. this.
  17. most of the stuff listed here (save the beds and furry property [pets]) can be bought in brought onboard or bought onboard at a port. when i am on a cruise i am too enraptured by what i have on the ship as well as the relief of what i do not have...to really miss anything.
  18. DTW to FLL on delta. this use to be a bargain. there has been cases in winter of me (on Wednesday) flying to FLL and back on the same day for $198.00.
  19. Covid19 has seriously downgraded premium select's soft product. pictures are of meal service from AMS to DTW. top two: pre covid (to on is the pre landing meal the second is the main meal). bottom photo: is same flight 11 months ago. same meal as coach. service was also reduced. the hard product is basically the same as domestic first class.
  20. i am always delighted to try food that i can't get at home. it is one of my favorite things about cruising.
  21. i like smaller pillows too. i wake up with a BAD headache every time i use theirs. i always end up using one of the green throw pillows. By day three the cabin steward stops taking it out of the pillowcase and putting it back. bigger is not always better.
  22. i know right? i usually fly into FLL over Miami (i like the airport more), and i use to be able to get that flight for $198 rt on delta. "HomerGuy", as in from homer?
