  1. Wow! Glad to hear they took such good care of your GD dietary needs. Sounds like an amazing experience. Gives me confidence that they will be able to handle all my allergies on the edge.
  2. Our cruise line (Celebrity) offers a round trip train ride. It’s what we have booked. I looked into going rogue and booking an independent tour but was concerned because of the rockslide. Not sure we would be able to get to the tour on time.
  3. Yes, I believe earlier (as in September )would be better. When we chose, we were deciding between May and September. We wanted to miss the school kids so avoided the summer months.
  4. Hi! We booked our first cruise ever to Alaska for May of 2024. I chose Celebrity Edge because it’s a round trip out of Seattle and has the retreat experience, we want to feel spoiled. One thing I missed was that Celebrity does not go to Glacier bay. If I had it to do over again, I might choose one of the itineraries that does.
  5. I did the space needle elevator before I knew I was afraid of heights. In fact, that’s how I discovered it. Hard no on ever doing it again. Very hard no.
  6. Yeah, I agree. I need my AC. So for me, it would be the same as an ocean view room.
  7. Which cruise line are you sailing with? We are going to Alaska on the Celebrity Edge in May of 24. another thing to consider if you haven’t booked yet is that only 3 cruise lines go to Glacier Bay. I didn’t realize this when I booked or I might have gone with another line. (Celebrity doesn’t go to glacier bay).
  8. We will be sailing with the retreat package for our first sailing and have one extended excursion planned. The excursion provides snacks but I have no way of knowing what the provided snacks are and I have several severe food allergies. Would it be acceptable to ask our butler to pack some safe snacks for me to take along? I get low blood sugar if I go too long without food.
  9. Great idea, I think I will follow your lead and do this as well.
  10. I wear Birkenstocks almost exclusively because of back issues. Hope those will be ok!
  11. This is good news as I may need to because of my food allergies.
  12. I see what you mean! I think I could be ok with either though. Of course the Celebrity looks more plush. Thanks for all your help, you’re really helping me understand the differences. How are the suites on Carnival?
  13. I’m more interested in a round trip. What is the passenger vessel service act?
  14. We are booked in a sky suite on the celebrity edge for our first cruise. It’s to Alaska next May. I’m looking at where else we can go from Seattle (or maybe Vancouver) and found the itinerary to Hawaii.
  15. Yes, I’m looking at 2024. I only see the one Carnival ship going to Hawaii in September.
  16. I need to see how far of a drive it would be for us to Vancouver. Seattle is 4 hours which is about the max I can handle with my limitations. I might be able to break it up into a two day drive though… with the itinerary to Hawaii having so many sea days, I feel like we have to like the ship and the on board experience.
  17. We are new to cruising. I just booked our first cruise and we haven’t taken it yet, it’s an Alaskan cruise on Celebrity. We are empty nesters in our mid-50’s. We want to be spoiled and lean more to enjoying elegance over fun, although I wish celebrity had bingo! That sounds like it would be fun. If Celebrity offered the itinerary to Hawaii, I’d probably book it but they don’t. We are limited to cruising out of Seattle.
  18. There is a round trip cruise out of Seattle to Hawaii on Carnival that I’m interested in but I know very little about the cruise line. I’ve studied Celebrity, as we have an Alaskan cruise coming up with them. How do they compare? The ship is the carnival spirit which seems to be an older ship although it says it was redone in 2018. I will post this on the Celebrity section as well.

  20. In fine cut steakhouse, the menu has a premium section (where the tomahawk for two is). Is there an up charge for these items?
  21. Sounds like your having a blast so far, thanks for sharing!
