I am on in two weeks time for a there and back TA. Even though I am a solo, this is something that does not interest me especially the solo meet ups but happy to wander over to Queen’s room and see what’s what and report back.
I had to buy one of those bags on wheels last Christmas after 2 weeks Christmas shopping in various ports I needed one to pack all my extras in. I got mine on QV but didn’t see them on QM last month.
Trouble is with Southampton traffic you can’t best guess it really. A few Saturdays it took me an hour to get from by Carnival H Q to Town Quay and you could see there was still a long wait ahead for folk going to Ocean Terminal . It also depends If QE II terminal is in use. Others may be more helpful but really it’s difficult to predict. Don’t think I have seen Disney in Southampton so I bet that will be busy.
And mine. I bought bright yellow suitcases a few years ago and now in the baggage hall the world and his wife seem to have them. That’s another reason I like the plastic tags they don’t spoil if it’s wet and you can spot your luggage easier .
I use Hemto luggage labels from Amazon . They are reusable and my current set have been used over 20 times. There are cheaper ones but the plastic is not as tough nor the metal rings. They are 7.99 for 5. You just cut the printed labels to fit. I have also invested in air tags for my next cruise just to keep track. You will see a lot of people using these tags as they are popular.
It’s not called a hotel and dining charge it’s gratuities I don’t think it specifies. I understand that included galley and laundry staff. As long as it all shared out I don’t mind what pot it goes into.
I personally think these days missed ports supplement is an essential element to me of insurance. It would certainly soften the blow to receive money back to spend on another cruise.
The added bonus with the Nationwide Current account that goes with it is that there are no foreign charges added for purchases and use abroad. I opened it up solely for cruising and insurance paid the £40 a year supplement. As a usual Cunard cruiser it’s useful because of all the dollar charges onboard. It’s great in port to buy even small items on your card and not be charged extra.
As I solo traveller I also think that is a consideration that does have to be factored in. It’s a different experience and may warrant a different mindset. As I previously mentioned I recently had a week in an inside and decided it was probably my limit in terms of what worked for me. Over that I think I would prefer a sea view or balcony
How do they who has removed them and who knows who has been tipped? I can’t believe the purser’s office has time to investigate those who removed gratuities and then check who they may have interacted with a given a cash tip too. Another thread on here confirmed categorically the crew had no access to information regarding the removal of gratuities. I never remove mine and still tip cabin steward and wait staff cash as an extra. I think there is a lot of speculation here and little hard facts for my liking.
I can take them or leave them. I am not bothered. I didn’t attend the last one as it clashed with something else. I am not convinced that 95% passengers still want them. I doubt 95% of the people onboard if that is what the OP meant were eligible to attend. On my last sailing in June I was surprised how many red cards were about. So lots of new to Cunard onboard.
As a solo cruiser a land based anything sort of holiday has zero attraction from me. I have no problem with the current Cunard offering and will certainly be happily sailing in the future and have many different options booked until 2025. As an aside as a child in the 60’s I loved Butlin’s
