  1. The Bloody Mary mix will vary by what is available. Have not seen Mr T on board. Have never seen an open bar on Celebrity. On the first night the officers assembled with drinks available. No Elite drinks that night. Is this what you meant.
  2. A more diverse and upscale group of passengers. Generally more polite.
  3. You are not allowed to book part of a cruise. Currently deviations are not allowed such as disembarking in Victoria instead of Vancouver. No idea when this will retutn to the rules before Covid. We used to take Pacific Coastal cruises and get off in Victoria. You can take Celebrity for one leg and another cruise line or different ship for the second. I'm done. It won't work. Forget logic and reasoning.
  4. Quickly book the Sanctuary on days when you are in Glacier Bay for example. The rest of the time lots of places to view from various decks. Remember that most of the time you are 1-50 miles from shore and cannot see details without binoculars. Thus if inside is really cheap we book inside and bring our own binoculars.
  5. They booked a specific time and MDR. Thus less or no waiting and the same waitstaff each night.
  6. What were the terms when you bought the cards? The HAL website says the cards are not refundable. They can certainly be used on another cruise or family or friends. Good news is no expiration or dormancy fees.
  7. Never had a problem in arranging our preferred dining time on board. We simply go to the MDR and they get it sorted - usually immediately/occasionally took till the 2nd night.
  8. The first show is almost always at 7pm. Second show at 8:30. Can vary due to port schedules. The show times are in the cruise planner in the Celebrity app.
  9. FBC makes mistakes and has ticketed passengers BEFORE payment was made. Your solution is easy - get on the internet and show them the payment last July AND any months with payments for your cruise. Arguing with the staff on board will make them less likely to help. Just give them the facts. Personally I would provide them with copies of all statements from July to January. They should be able to print them out for you if asked politely. Know you are frustrated. Keep it to just the facts.
  10. Doesn't make sense as FBC is not charged when you make your booking. You would be charged at final payment. Should be really simple to get a copy of your credit card statement for July of 2022 and show them the FBC charge last July. Then get the last few statements to show where you paid for your cruise. It is easy to get cruise fare and airline confused.
  11. In the US Paxlovid is still an experimental drug and was free at our local pharmacy. DW a week after Paxlovid was very ill. Doctor suggested hospitalization possibility. The rebound lasted 3 weeks. Still not 100% so in her case short term gain. Long term not so good. Agree on adjusting existing meds, but kidney issues are a definite exclusion according to our doctor. The reduction of covid symptoms was almost immediate for DW. Everyone is different and according to local hospital no definitive studies as yet.
  12. Have not seen larger increases recently from Celebrity/Royal than HAL/Princess. Royal noted last week.that bookings were at all time record levels. Europe and Pacific Coast/Alaska very strong. Caribbean not as strong. Have seen decreases in some cruises out of Florida and Texas.
  13. Paxlovid can be great. It also as the previous poster noted can have SERIOUS side effects. Those with any kidney issues, taking a long list of medicines for blood pressure and cholesterol should not take Paxlovid. My DW became quickly very ill with Covid. She has moderate asthma and other issues. Called her doctor and was told to immediately stop taking 3 medications and wait 36 hours before taking Paxlovid. Taking Paxlovid without the doctor knowing a COMPLETE medical history along with all medications and how long they have been taken is risky.
  14. This has come up before and we agree it makes no sense. Cruisestitch has explained it well. This really only seems to come up with Hawaii paired with a cruise from Vancouver that ends in the US. Thus according to PVSA (which is an ancient law) you are starting and ending your crying without a distant port on a foreign vessel. Sorry
  15. Gracie - pricing regardless of line is significantly up on most itineraries. Europe, Alaska and TAs showing strong prices and ships at capacity - sometimes proportionately more passengers than crew. Then many Caribbean and Pacific cruises are dropping in price as the lines try to fill cabins. Same as others have said with airlines. Less flights scheduled. Fares have gone crazy. From AMS to Arizona fare 2 years ago was $500 arriving in AZ same day as departure. Booked LY in June for $800. Today is over $1600 - with an overnight in the US. For next year should be interesting to see if bookings stay firm. Do know I bought 400 shares of RCL for the shareholder OBC and it has almost doubled. So can't complain too much.
  16. Certainly are a lot of experts here. I am a TA that organized land tours over the last 20 years in Australia, Europe and North America. Things happen. A spring tour in Arizona had 10" of snow. The roads were open but not safe. Each driver made their own decision and I provided the best options I could find - they were barely ok. On shore excursions the ship will wait a couple hours - not more. The rain forest in Costa Rica has unpredictable weather and the tour re the OP dod not make it back to the ship. Things happen. They eventually got back on board with expenses paid. I do agree the compensation offered was insulting. At the least they should have been refunded the cost of the days (or portion thereof) missed. On a shore excursion I organized there was an injury accident involving a participant. The cruiseline was contacted as assisted with arranging medical treatment. Two others stayed with the injured person and all flew at our expense to the next port - 2 days later. The cruiseline port manager coordinated transportation, meals and accommodations- at our expense. Things happen. Similar is booking airfare THROUGH the cruiseline. They will assist you in getting to the ship if things go sideways, but you might arrive in a strange manner. Recently a couple from the UK had flights delayed in mid December to LAX so arriving the morning of their cruise. The cruiseline forgot them and they actually watched their ship depart. Their paid transfer went sideways. The UK branch said cannot fly LAX to Cabo (oops) and sent them to Mexico City then Acapulco then via a BUS!! to Hautalco. All expenses paid and credit for 4 days cruising missed. The couple said they had a tiring and "unforgettable " experience. Things happen. A force majure can happen with any activity.
  17. There are dozens of insurance companies and thousands of policies for travel insurance coverage. As suggested - call an expert. Same as buying a car. Would you go to the nearest dealer and buy on the spot without doing at least some research about other cars or dealers?
  18. Be patient for the upgrade to show on your booking documents. Everything we purchase before our cruise we print a copy of the email. If we pay with a credit card we print that too.
  19. Simple rule - FBC is not always cheaper. Especially with Air Canada. Today with prices changing daily you actually never know. FBC would usually book in USD unless told differently. Remember FBC is NOT a travel agent. They are a consolidator. We booked with FBC and made sure no change fees. Were able to get a fare reduction. Not piling on, but with an airline background in the family and all the recent issues with FBC on Cruise Critic - Especially seat selection issues - just wondering. If only a couple hundred $$ I would cancel. If not cost to cancel would have already done so. In a long prior thread FBC said that changes would take a week or longer if not flying soon.
  20. Have never seen Indian Fever Tonic. Have seen probably 10 different brands over the years. They vary greatly depending on where you are sailing.
  21. Yeah! I suspect a combination of comments and a steady addition of crew members is responsible.
  22. With airplanes real 🦞 is available almost anywhere today. Spent last September in New Brunswick and DW had lobster 4 times. Once was enough for me. Agree with the drawn butter requirement. Monkfish if soaked in drawn butter is pretty good.
  23. The menus are the usually very similar (or the same) for Apex, Edge and Beyond. Means are posted at lots of sites - do a Google search for Celebrity menus. Today there are definitely lots of last minute changes.
  24. Aqua except for the E class ships has access to Persian Gardens at will unless something changed. Elites have the 1 port day access. Have you maybe confused the two benefits?
