  1. Goo Morning Everyone I hope you're all good and well. Lovely day here today - very bright and mild. I hope it's like this for you tomorrow @brian1. Medical update from Smurf HQ: Saw GP this morning and aside from what we already knew ( (arthritis, opsteoporosis in spine), it turns out I have a large, but non- cancerous, tumour across Lumbar Spine L1 and L2. Referral to spinal surgeon next so he/she can assess the agression of the tumour. It may mean treatment (injections, surgery) or it might just be a watch and wait brief. If I hadn't had the fall, I wouldn't have known. It was an "incidental finding". So, every cloud and all that! I hope you all have a lovely day. Jane xx
  2. Thanks Graham. Yes thanks, a bit better every day. So glad to hear about Sarah. Jane xx
  3. That's very kind of you Avril. Thanks so much. Those early posts during Covid were back in late 2019 I think - that time has gone so fast. I've read all the posts about your searches for insurance - very depressing on costs. I'm out of the game now so can't comment but you've had some great advice so fingers crossed you are able to find something. It would be so nice for you and Frank to have another cruise. Have a good day both. Best wishes. Jane xxx
  4. Morning Graham and Pauline. I hope you both have your lazy day as planned. How is your Sarah doing? Best wishes to all. Jane xx
  5. Really lovely photos @Purdey16. A treat to wake up to. Thank you. Jane xx
  6. Morning Gill. Yes I'm feeling a bit better today thanks. I'm still in chronic pain with my back and I still have pains in my head but every day will be an improvement on the previous one from here on I hope.i guess everything takes longer to heal the older you get! Ted is in his element. He's never been the kind of dog who loves walking (from quite an early age) so these past few days of eat, snooze, treats, snooze, eat, snooze again and finally bed have been a joy to him. He's great company when he's awake! Have a good day Gill. Best wishes always. Jane xx
  7. Good luck to Liverpool today Sue. If Arsenal can't win the title I'd love it to be Liverpool for Klopp to finish on a real high. You're going to miss him so much. Have a good day and fingers crossed! Jane xx
  8. Lovely to hear from again Eddie. I've taken your advice and cancelled my Marathon entry. Shame! Hair is washed and half-dried but the Smurf look is now a dim and distant memory. Kathleen is on her way - it's very windy here now. Don't think I'd fancy setting sail today - especially going across to Ireland. Did we always have named storms here in the UK? If we did, I can't remember so many hot on the heels of the last one. Have a happy weekend. Jane xx
  9. Brilliant Kalos! We should have an extra sort of guffaw meme on here just for you. Still laughing. Jane xx
  10. How lovely of you to say that Gill. Thank you so much. I must tell you that Ted is revelling in my discomfort. I've had loads of visitors to make a fuss of him (not me!) and he hasn't had to walk very far - have another fall he says! Have a lovely weekend Gill. Jane xx
  11. Good Morning Everyone I hope you are well today. It's a very warm start to the day here - all windows already open and a lovely breeze coming through. I don't think Storm Kathleen is going to reach my neck of the woods but it looks as though she's going to be very fierce in the North and West so take care. My big excitement today is that I can wash my hair - yay! Having an injury and looking like a bag lady is not a good combination so some semblance of normality will be very welcome. Monday is a GP appointment "to discuss the findings on your scan". Maybe they found a brain! Tuesday is stitches out so slowly and surely I hope I'm on the mend. I'll let you know what the "findings" are but apart from that I'll shut up now because this thread is becoming a bit 'Me, Me, Me" . Once again, thank you all so much for your care and good wishes. Have a great weekend everyone. Jane xxx
  12. You are so right Zap. I was very lucky to have been sheltered in the care of my own surgery for so many years. This was my first foray into "the real world" of the NHS - and I don't like it! I'm sorry to hear about your experience - disgraceful, but yes you're right - there will be another form to fill in. As it happens, following on from my earlier post, I got a text from my GP surgery asking me to make two appointments. One - to have the stitches removed with the practice nurse, and two - with a GP to discuss findings on my CT scans. All done with an online link so sorted! Have a good weekend. Jane xx
  13. Good Morning I hope everyone is well today. It's very mild here this morning but alternating between brilliant sunshine and heavy showers. Another day indoors for me today. I feel like I've been kicked by donkeys. Everything hurts/aches and I didn't sleep very well again. However, painkillers are a wonderful invention and I'm sure by tomorrow I'll be a bit more human. My next task is to try and get an appointment to get my stitches removed on Tuesday next week. I phoned my GP surgery to get an appointment booked in, but of course nothing is straightforward any more. "You have to call on the day" says the receptionist. "I promise I'm not being difficult but I really do need to have these stitches out on Tuesday. What do you advise?" says I. "Go back to A&E" she says. That was it! It's not often I wish I was still at work in my own brilliant surgery but that was one of those times. I'm going to call again today and try another receptionist but if I don't have any luck I'll probably have to go to a walk-in centre where the waits are only about 2 hours. Right, no more whingeing. I just want to thank @twotravellersLondon and @P&O SUE for the gorgeous photos posted yesterday. Two Travellers - your bird pics are exquisite and Sue - so glad you had a good cruise and you, me dear, are really photogenic. Have a good day guys and girls. Best wishes. Jane xx
  14. I was going to thank you individually for all your good wishes then realised there were so many that I'd take up a whole page which would be boring for some. Aren't I lucky to have so many friends wishing me well; so here's a massive "Thank you so much for your good wishes". I really do appreciate all the messages and once again think how lucky we are with this thread ( thank you Sharon) and how really heart warming that we support each other so sincerely. Update: I hardly slept at all - couldn't get comfortable and too much pain - so I ended up watching Match of the Day at 4am, followed by a few episodes of Miranda - "such fun!" Seriously, I feel pretty naff - very achy and head is pounding but I'll have a couple of days resting and I'll be fine. Ted won't mind not being walked too much and the girls will do that anyway. Re the Smurf look: If vanity had allowed, I would have posted a photo to make you all laugh but vanity didn't allow, so I haven't. Thanks once again to all my dear CC friends - you are the best. Have a good day everyone. Jane xx
  15. Thanks Happy V. You were right - stonking headache today! Didn't sleep much so today I'm like a wet lettuce. Jane xx
  16. Well, what a day I've had! Just got back from the hozzie (thanks Kalos - love that word) where I've been since midday. Very long story short, I was out for a walk with Ted. It started to rain and I took a tumble down some steps which were very slippery. I landed firstly on my back then my head hit another step - out cold. Fortunately, a lady I know was also out walking and saw it happen. She called for an ambulance and when I came round I was very sick and dizzy. Ambo came quickly and they decided I should go in because I'd lost consciousness. The ambo drivers were so sweet and kind. They drove me home to drop Ted off with my neighbour then took me off to A&E. OMG the A&E was rammed. I've had CT scans of back and head- nothing fractured thank goodness. Five stitches in my head and thumping headache later I was discharged at 10pm. A&E still rammed. I've come home with a massive bandage around my head and my granddaughters, very unkindly I thought, said I looked like a Smurf! I've had better days!!! Sleep well everyone. Jane xx
  17. Good Morning All Friends 10c here this morning and raining - again. I hope everyone is well today. Try not to watch the news - it's even more depressing than normal. I used to be an avid news watcher who would worry about anything and everything. My April '24 resolution now is only worry about things you can change and bin the rest. Have a lovely day everyone. Be well and happy. Best wishes always. Jane xx
  18. Wishing a very Happy Easter to those who celebrate and a lovely day to those who don't - see how politically correct I'm being here. Oh bugger it - just have a great day everyone! Jane xx
  19. @P&O SUE Have a great few days Sue. Take the Stugeron now though - it might be a bit wild tonight ( that's the weather, not you and John in the Crow's Nest!). Enjoy it - you deserve a nice rest. Jane xx
  20. All we need now is for one of the gang to have visited St.Colman's during a christening and we'll have a full set - hatched, matched, and dispatched! Jane xx
  21. It is St.Colmans John. I went there in 2018 with my granddaughter. It's a fairly steep climb up to the cathedral but so worth it. The views from the top are lovely. Our ship looked tiny in the distance. There was a wedding happening when we visited but the two ushers outside kindly let us in, so we attended the service itself, then watched the bride and and groom and all the more able guests running down the steep slopes into the town afterwards. It was a very happy day. We also went into the Titanic Museum that Ardennais mentioned. It was fab. Very intimate with re-created cabins as per the cost level of the Titanic passengers' bookings. Your entry ticket gives you the name of an actual passenger and at the end of your tour you look up your name on a printed list and find out whether you survived or not! Well worth a visit. Jane x
  22. @twotravellersLondon. I just want to say (along with Avril) how much I enjoy reading your posts. You are such good scribes. Your post from yesterday with the song titles leads me to believe we are roughly the same age (young!) and I had great fun matching the songs to their artists - got them all. So thank you. Jane xx
