  1. Morning Andy and Michelle Your party of now 7 ( so sorry to hear one of whom has had to drop out - I hope he/she is ok) sounds like a very diverse group and you're all set up for great fun. I hope Hyacinth doesn't show you up all too much! Have a wonderful time both and I look forward hearing all about it. Love Britannia. Very best wishes. Jane xx
  2. Dear Frank Thanks so much for taking the time to contact me. I really do appreciate your kind and supportive words. "When you feel the time is right" told me that you, as a fairly recent ex- smoker, understand my feelings at this point. I will let you know how things go. Thanks again Frank and my very best wishes to you and Avril. Jane xx
  3. That's fantastic @Megabear2. You've done so well. Buy new!!! Jane xx
  4. Thanks Graham. It's a comprehensive list and all so true. Because I've been a long-time smoker, and having given up many times previously, I always seem to revert to type when an event happens that throws me off kilter. Weak-willed is another description! Thanks again. Jane xx
  5. Hello John. Thank you for asking and yes I am feeling a lot better now. It's only 3 weeks since the fall so I'm quite chuffed that I feel this well. The pain is lessening every day. When I got home from the hospital and got settled in, I felt really shocked, and more than anything, I wanted a cigarette. I had kept a "just in case" packet all the time I've been vaping (over a year) and I've never even come close to opening them until that night. I smoked about 10 during a very long night of not sleeping and have carried on smoking for the past 3 weeks I'm ashamed to say. Now, I've got to start all over again. I know I can do it because I've proved that already but oh it feels like a mountain to climb! Jane xx
  6. Good Morning Everyone There's a wonderful air of excitement on here today so @zap99, @AndyMichelle, @Ilovemygarden, I hope you all have fabulous cruises, have now got all coats, socks, and undercrackers sorted and packed, and can just look forward to having a great time. Bon voyage. Jane xxx
  7. Welcome home Pam. I'm glad you had a good holiday and send very best wishes for a happy anniversary. Have a lovely day and meal out tonight. Jane xxx
  8. She sounds like a lovely lady Graham - and how lovely she was a nice MIL to Pauline. My first car was a Ford Escort too! Unfortunately I'm not yet fully recovered. GP says 6-12 weeks for the fractures to heal - I'll get there soon - it's only 3 weeks ago so early days. Thanks for the beautiful card Graham. Jane xx
  9. An echo is much more involved LL. They look into the chambers of your heart and also the valves to ensure they are working properly. You are right in that it's like a baby scan - completely painless and actually very interesting if the technician is kind enough to point out what he/ she is looking at. Good luck when the time comes. Jane xx
  10. I must tell you a funny story about a full muster on Britannia. It was 2016 I think - Britannia was a fairly new ship anyway. So, I gathered my life jacket and trotted down to the lounge. All was clearly explained and straightforward...... until we had to demonstrate the fitting of jackets. So embarrassing. I don't wear trousers, ever, and these particular lifejackets had to be fitted by looping the attachment from the back, between your legs and bringing the clip up the front of the body to attach .....which would have involved exposing an amount of leg that only a doctor should see! Obviously I didn't do the full fit and one of the lovely female crew suggested that whilst on board I should "purchase some of the very nice trousers we sell on board". Good sales pitch!
  11. Good Morning Everyone 6c and light showers here this morning. Forecast is for much of the same. I hope everyone is doing ok and those waiting for medical tests get them sooner than expected! @lincslady - 7 months wait time for an echo seems a long way off - perhaps you'll get a cancellation - fingers crossed for you. I'm awaiting 3 referrals - but no idea how long they'll take - so be it. I'm just grateful that during my very long day in A&E I had all possible diagnostic tests, was treated with care and kindness, and it reinforced what I already suspected - that the NHS is there when you most need it. @Peanut006 Glad to hear your mum is doing well Michelle - what a turnaround from those earlier very worrying days. Good for her. @grapau27 I hope your late mam's birthday anniversary was full of lovely memories and well done that young man for finishing 18th in the Marathon. That's some achievement. Have a good day everyone. Be well. Jane xx
  12. Good Morning Everyone I hope you're all well and have a good weekend planned. Lovely photos from @Snow Hill. I love that part of the world. I've stayed in York and Harrogate many times and they never lose their attraction for me - especially York Minster. No real news from me. I'm much more mobile now but I have to admit to feeling a bit frustrated about the continuous back pain. Got the final report from CT scans and it mentions a third fracture on spine and loss of height due to compression - I thought I'd put weight on but I've just lost height! Good weekend for sport for me, and family visits all arranged around matches - they don't mind - they're used to my football obsession. Whatever you're doing, have a great weekend. Be well. Jane xx
  13. Good luck today Josy. Hopefully you'll stay dry walking in and with a good result walking out. Jane xx
  14. Good Morning All. Horrible day here so far. It's 9c, raining, and incredibly windy - as per the forecast. Quiet day for me today. I have a friend coming over later for coffee and a natter but otherwise nothing planned - but that's good because my back is really playing up. I stupidly thought a good bit of exercise would help my recovery ( despite Ted's protestations) but I think I've taken on too much too soon. Idiot me as usual. There's loads to look forward to this Summer. We've got the Euros, the Olympics, and then Wimbledon. Deep joy! Have a good day everyone and enjoy whatever you've got planned. Be well. Jane xx
  15. You old softie Kalos. I'm sure Mrs K. feels the same. Have a great day. Jane xx
  16. Up at 5.30am - no reason - just woke up early. It's 12c and cloudy here at the moment. The forecast is for an ok weekend before the rain returns on Monday. I'm just watching the news and hearing about multiple stabbings at a shopping mall in Bondi, Sydney. People just out shopping on a busy Saturday afternoon and boom, lives lost and changed forever. So scary. I'm beginning to wonder if we're safe anywhere. @indiana123 How are you feeling today? I do hope you're getting some respite from your pain. @Purdey16 Thanks for the photos - lovely blue sky - and what a surprise you had from your unexpected visitors. Have a Great few days together. @Grumpycruiser60plus How lovely that you're in beautiful Charlestown. I visited there some years ago and could have stayed there forever. I bet it hasn't changed much either. Your photos are really fab and thanks for posting them. Have a great day at The Lost Gardens of Heligan. I hope everyone has a good weekend. Be well. Jane xx
  17. Lovely list @Megabear2. I remember them all! Jane xx
  18. I agree Snow Hill. If these are the best of the best, I despair of our future business world. Love Claude! Have a good day. Jane xx
  19. Good morning everyone. "No wind, no rain..." ( another rain song- ish) just 12c and looking to be a good day here. I'm a bit late with this this but @indiana123 I hope all goes well today - best of luck for a successful outcome that will hopefully alleviate some pain for you. A week on from my tumble and I'm out walking again (albeit with great care). Ted is furious! His week off is ended and I know some of you won't believe this but he's actually sulking at having to go out more often. If anyone's still watching The Apprentice it's interviews night tonight - watch the wannabes get torn to shreds. Love it. i hope everyone has a good day. Be well. Jane xx
  20. All good things come in small packages Sue! Thanks for your good wishes. Jane xx
  21. Hello Julie. A very warm welcome to the forum. You will find many friends (and a lot of dog lovers) on here and you will feel at home straight away. Best wishes. Jane xx
  22. That's great news Graham. Even if you're expecting an "all clear" it's still a relief to have it confirmed by a Consultant. Happy for you. Jane xx
  23. @Eddie99 Thanks for your good wishes. I'm a tad worried about future health issues and didn't sleep that well last night. Good news is I feel much better today and had all stitches out pain-free. @indiana123 I do hope all goes well for you on Thursday and I further hope you got somewhere to stay at a much lower price than you were quoted - which was a total rip-off! @grapau27 Hope all is well for you at your checkup today Graham. I know it's rourine but still...good luck. It's a horrible day here today. Fiercely windy and raining since early morning. Have a good day eveyone. Jane xx
  24. Once again, thanks for your good wishes one and all. I'm feeling much better now thank you. Stitches out tomorrow then me and my tumour will await further instruction from them wot know, Thanks again you lovely lovely people! Best wishes to all. Jane xx
