  1. This thread from January gives me hope:
  2. The price showing online already has the "Upgrade sale" discount. If you look at the price before the sale (such as in a brochure), it was higher (for cabins on sale). In other words, your mock booking shows the price to be paid; the only options are to include air and/or O-Life or not (which will reduce the fare by the price of the air or OLife package).
  3. I lurked this board for about a year absorbing the many vagaries associated with O (and cruises in general) before booking; without questions this forum would be dead. I think many of us have gone through the mock/real booking process and been stymied by how to remove O-Life at some point (at least I did, and you probably saved someone time/frustration by asking). My TA is also experienced, but not an O-super-duper-booker so I always give very clear instructions. You can drop O-Life from your booking or change your O-Life amenity up to a deadline (can't remember exactly...maybe final payment for dropping? The legal mumbo-jumbo has it listed if needed).
  4. You can get the cruise-only fare (the lower price), but not by using the book-online route which essentially forces you to add on O-Life to the fare. As was mentioned, O-Life, air, bev-packages, shorex packages, etc. are add-ons to the cruise-only fare. We typically do cruise-only, and occassionally add on either O-Life's shorex or YWC shorex.
  5. If enough people put it on both the mid-cruise and end-of-cruise feedback, maybe they will put one in Horizons. It shouldn't be difficult to add a counter and espresso machine plus tea, etc. as long as there is a water supply handy.
  6. It's a real sale and one of the best that regularly occur. If you compare the cabin prices showing online now to the presale price, they are less than they were before the sale (old catalogs can show you the presale price). If you are looking at an O-ship, the on-sale A cabins will be priced like B cabins were before the sale. Sometimes the savings is only a couple of hundred dollars, but I've also seen savings over $1000, so it varies widely.
  7. Go to steamboats photo review and look at Aquamar and Terrace. The menu for Aquamar has espresso drinks, so if it is open you can get espresso (the photo seems to show a "real" espresso machine for the servers to use, not a self-serve, but it is far away in the photo). The photos for Terrace show a self-serve machine that is a little different (icons on a touch screen) but looks to be for espresso drinks.
  8. Thanks! I remembered seeing something indicating that a photo was not required, but couldn't remember exactly what it said. (And since I just can't help myself...) No restaurants I go to have had QR codes since 2020...quickly disappeared after lock-down ended. Maybe corporate eateries still have them...I wouldn't know. Yes, people hated them.
  9. The Extraordinary Sale is about as restricted as it gets (combinable with 2-for-1 Deposits and Oceania Club Loyalty Benefits...and nothing else). O sales cannot usually be stacked anyway.
  10. The common upgrades are Inside to OV, OV to B, B to A. Sometimes A to PH is available and when it is, it's often the most bang for your buck.
  11. I just filled out our check-in info. For the photo there are options to download and existing photo or to take one with your device's camera. There is also the option to skip the photo upload and I'm fairly sure you can still print a boarding pass (with the caveat that a photo will need to be taken at embarkation), but I have not tried it (although I was tempted since our selfie lighting made us look ill and bug-eyed 🫢).
  12. If you want to reply to a specific post, click on the "+" next to the word "Quote" in the bottom-left corner of their post; since I was only replying to part of your post, I deleted the first paragraph (be sure to type your response BELOW the quote, not in the quoted-shaded-box). If you want to direct a comment to someone, you can put "@" before their screen-name, e.g., @wcGma (and choose from the drop down menu that appears). Either one will create a notification to them if they have the default settings.
  13. If there are crew members who deserve a little extra (cabin steward, barista, even that guy who seems to always be polishing the stair handrails) at the end of your cruise, cash is the way to go. Enjoy your cruise!
  14. Try clearing your cache. The US site used to have the wrong menu but now it has the $12-18 (USD) menu.
  15. Great to hear! I was wondering if the transition from South Seas to Alaska had a large staff turnover. We were on Regatta last fall and were pleased with almost everything (customs line-up process in SFO was a cluster), and are booked on Regatta again in June and September.
  16. Here is the post with a link to the template:
  17. Someone from the UK said that O is not shipping luggage labels (or other pre-cruise docs) to the UK anymore. Don't worry though, you can get blank ones from the porters, or you can make your own (your name, embarkation date, ship name, and stateroom number). I'll see if I can find the link to a template that is somewhere here in the forums...
  18. Made me laugh...it only took about a week and a half after a recent booking for my outgoing route to Europe to be demolished (as in it doesn't exist anymore...not just time changes) and replaced with a new route. The new route was my second choice, so it's OK...for now... 🫠
  19. The search function can be no bueno unless you know how to work it (I don't expect most people to have Boolean search skills), so I found a few posts by people with coeliac/gluten issues (or their travelmates): https://boards.cruisecritic.com/topic/2933402-allergies-on-ws-gluten-free-in-particular/#comment-65271951 https://boards.cruisecritic.com/topic/2915817-oceania-nautica-recent-experiences/#comment-64896456 https://boards.cruisecritic.com/topic/2914735-riviera-live-—-february-10th/page/2/#comment-64813657 https://boards.cruisecritic.com/topic/2870640-main-dining-room-question/page/2/#comment-64450117 For more results type "gluten" into the search bubble; be sure to choose "This Forum" from the pulldown menu next to where you typed "gluten". Sort by date to get the most recent posts. Hehe...spellcheck wants me to spell it celeriac (makes great leek soup!)
  20. No, Poland and Berlin in Oct/Nov for fun then business. This is planning way farther in advance than usual. Immediately after I bought my tix, the same route was 4 or 500 more...guess I cleared out that class (we're still at Premium Econ for business trips...for fun we'll take the QM2 eastbound and skip jet lag, just wish they still had 5-day crossings). Again, thanks for the itamatrix ref...very helpful for routes I don't normally book.
  21. I'll take this opportunity to thank you for recommending itamatrix. Even with it, I had a heck of a time finding flights with decent layovers (a little over an hour in FRA or LHR, really?!?). Recently I was able to get flights with 3.5 hours in both connecting cities even though it cost a little extra. I like that time to brush my teeth and clean up, maybe change clothes, and have a bite to eat or get an espresso drink.
  22. Maybe the phone app doesn't show the quotes or something? Your responses to quoted text are clear using my browser on a computer but obviously something is missing from some posters' interfaces.
  23. I don't know #2, but I'm sure someone will chime in and add to my brief answers. Please feel free to ask for clarification as I'm avoiding tackling my overgrown yard.
  24. 9) I'll leave this mostly to the super-experienced since I have not noticed. However, one of the benefits of the highest level O-Club is dinner with officers. If you want to chat with officers, hand out at Baristas.
  25. 😎 8...hehe...this keeps getting converted to an appropriate emoji...the main entertainment crew (singers, dancers) stay for multiple cruises and also have jobs during the day leading the social/game activities. There are usually other entertainers (e.g., comics, singers, magicians) that may come and go.
