  1. An updated article on the search for the best solo/singles cruises including on Holland America: https://www.thetravel.com/best-singles-cruises/
  2. That guy Elvis is still around isn't he? I swear I saw him in the front of one of those long cruise buffet lines not long ago. 😀
  3. When you have survived 150 years through two world wars a number of economic panics and a world wide depression some worldwide pandemics and not to mention the sinking of the Titanic you don't let some typed words by anyone bother you. Enjoy your first cruise with Holland America Line.
  4. Looks like if your lucky you could get a second chair to go with the room's dining table for one. I just watched a video of a similar room on the big Z from 5 years ago that had one but even then it was a just a folding chair. Imagine riding the waves down the Atlantic coast while sitting on a folding chair.

  6. Read today's article and watch the video about the Traveling Grannies who are both widows and have travelled around the world together. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11953553/Texas-grandmas-internet-stars-traveling-world-80-days.html
  7. There has not been a significant Tropical Storm or Hurricane to hit the East coast of the US past the middle of October since Superstorm Sandy in 2012 and Hurricane Wilma in 2005, though there have been a couple of other ones in late October into early November that have caused some minor travel disruptions. In turn though this is the only opportunity to take a roundtrip cruise from the Northeast to the Panama Canal and take at least a partial canal transit. No roundtrips are available out of New York, and Baltimore offers one roundtrip from there in January. I will probably be booking this cruise for myself while I am onboard a HAL cruise to Canada in May.
  8. Welcome to our world!🤪 I live 50 miles outside the city. Most people that I know when they go into the city for visiting or entertainment(museums, sports, theater, concerts etc...)reasons will park just outside the city and use the public transportation services(Bus, Train, Subway)and if I was a tourist visiting inside the city I would too. https://www.boston.com/news/local-news/2023/01/12/boston-traffic-fourth-worst-in-world-commute-time/
  9. Here is a recent article published online about HAL Cruise Director Kimberly Wells. https://www.businessinsider.com/working-on-cruise-ships-pros-holland-america-cruises-2023-3?international=true&r=US&IR=T
  10. Oops... https://www.captainalbert.com/holland-line-ships-past-and-present/an-outline-of-the-history-of-holland-america-line-part-3/
  11. Here is Captain Albert's blog telling the story of the Holland America Line ships that were being used by the Allies during World War 2 and after.
  12. It does offer a nice alternative for New Englanders in the Fall when everything from here is heading north to Canada. I do agree that the port lacks facilities especially in terms of long term parking for extended journeys.
  13. Not sure on the Quebec City horse drawn carriage rides but I do know that they have them in the town of Lunenburg, Nova Scotia which is not far from Halifax if that is on your itinerary, Went on one years ago there and it was a relaxing way of seeing the highlights of Lunenburg. Bar Harbor also used to have a carriage ride too but as far as I know they no longer do. https://www.trotintime.ca/about
  14. I am coming from the fact that the refundable deposit for the cruise fare for you or anybody else is $700 and not $2988 as you originally stated. Yes the refundable fare has gone up to $2988 since 2019 which in turn means the deposit amount has too. But clearly HAL is not requiring a 100% full fare deposit on a one week Mexican Riviera cruise nearly a year from now unless you choose to pay it in full now. Fini!
  15. The refundable deposit for the cruise you were talking about in your original post was and still is in fact $700, as pointed out by Boatdrill in a post here on Tuesday. Your post contained at the very least a misleading statement to support the title you gave it, 'Highest Prices We Have Seen'. Now the thread has drifted off into whatever land. Nice play!
  16. The OP conveniently never responded to this post which questioned his original premise to begin with and was posted just a few hours later. It's always the same premise, turn up the heat-stir the soup-then leave it for others to clean up as it boils over.
  17. Holland America's parent company Carnival Corporation speaks out on those hidden rubber ducks... https://www.thestreet.com/travel/carnival-cruise-line-speaks-out-on-hidden-ducks
  18. LMAO🤣😂🤣 Now if we can just get them to fly out of San Diego you will be good to go Cliff.🙂
  19. Ok people lets settle down, there are alternative choices to cruising... https://costaide.com/cost-to-go-to-moon/
  20. A new informative article from the BBC about solo travel and women: https://www.bbc.com/travel/article/20230402-five-countries-that-are-safer-for-women
  21. So if your choices are Holland America or nothing why come on here always evaluating or questioning the corporate motives and mostly disparaging the only thing you have?
  22. The Abbe Native American Museum right in downtown Bar Harbor is a Smithsonian affiliate and is open from May-November. https://www.abbemuseum.org/
  23. So now that you have cancelled your "last" HAL cruise (he posted elsewhere that he did today) which was scheduled for next March/April there will be plenty of time to spend planning your future cruises with Celebrity and enjoying the vast differences which I hope to read about on the Celebrity board.
