  1. Banditswife - I agree with you. When I see the tags as I'm putting my clothes in the washer, it brings back happy memories of my cruises. 😊 HAL does an excellent job with the laundry service.
  2. I'm sorry to hear that. I hope this will get straightened out and that you will be compensated for your troubles. You and your family deserve a relaxing vacation. We all do. Good luck.
  3. Bon Voyage! Jose will be right there with you. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. 🥂 So glad you have a great steward! 😊 Very important.
  4. LuAnn. I am very sorry for your loss.
  5. RedneckBob - Sorry you didn't get birthday cake. I hope they will serve it at dinner. Glad you had the pecan pie.
  6. Hallmark cards at Dollar Tree are only 50 cents. 😊
  7. Happy birthday Niew Statendam!!!! 🎂🥂❤😊 I was on her for 24 days in August and enjoyed it very.much. She has the BEST crew!!!!!!
  8. David - I was on the QE2 in the 70s and 80s out of Southampton UK. I had a dental emergency and was seen right away, but I did not get a bill. I told the dentist I wanted to pay him and he said "Buy me a drink in the Theater Bar" so I did. He was an excellent dentist and he looked EXACTLY like the doctor on the TV show "The Love Boat." All the passengers who saw him around the ship called him "Doc." I had many happy times on the QE2.
  9. ontheweb - Thanks for the update. I'm glad the Benadryl and steroids helped your wife.
  10. on the web - I'm sorry your wife had that problem on the cruise. I hope she was given a different antibiotic by the ship's doctor.
  11. treykion - I agree with you that seeing a dentist before the cruise is the best option. I had put off seeing a dentist for a long time (using the pandemic as an excuse). However, I was booked on a 24 day cruise in August. I saw my dentist in April and I needed dental surgery. The oral surgeon was booked up, but he saw me in July and I was given antibiotics to take after the surgery. The dentist saw me 2 days before the cruise. It was a relief to have that done so I could enjoy the cruise.
  12. hal lover I hope you and your husband will be better soon.
  13. I agree. I would have asked for another steward too. That is completely unacceptable.
  14. On my last cruise, I went to ATM at ports and was given big bills. The people at Guest Services exchanged the foreign currency to US dollars in smaller amounts for tips. I agree that on a longer cruise, it is best to ask room stewards and MDR waiters if they will be on entire cruise. Sometimes their schedules change and they might be going on vacation.
  15. Many years ago when I was on the QE2, a passenger on an upper deck threw a LIT cigarette overboard and the wind blew it to a lower deck. The garbage there caught fire. The crew quickly took care of it, but it was scary to smell the smoke. The crew did a great job.
  16. Hank - The "suits" in Seattle need to leave their office and go on a HAL cruise.
  17. liketraveling Thanks for the update. I'm glad you and your dad tested negative. You have my best wishes.
  18. PACD_JG. Thanks for the picture! 😊 It looks delicious and I'm glad you liked it. Sorry about portions and service, but it's good that HAL made the effort to serve a traditional turkey dinner.
  19. adoris. Thanks for your answer. I'm glad they had a turkey dinner and fixings.
  20. PACD_JG. Did they have a turkey dinner on Thanksgiving Day?
  21. 1) Norway 2) Pea soup at Dutch Cafe, Dover Sole at Rudi's, and lasagna at lunch in Lido 3) I still do sparkly on "dressy nights." I don't fly, so I can take more clothes.
  22. Dancing Shoes - I agree with you. In my experience midship and a lower deck Is best.
  23. albingirl - I agree with you. I think the "suits" in Seattle should be required to take at least one cruise on a HAL ship. They should be "undercover" and mix and mingle with passengers.
