  1. The time we were on the Seaside back in January of 2018, we stayed in the YC in an inside cabin. One time late at night we were going back to our cabin and I swiped the band. Then a couple came into the elevator and they pushed the button for 12. The elevator went to out deck first and the guy from 12 was livid. As we exited, my DH said, sorry Yacht Club. Would have loved to have heard the conversation between the couple on the way back down to 12.
  2. Since HAL was recently brought into the discussion, about a month or so ago they started giving out OBC to members of AARP. Depending upon what type of cabin you get, it's anywhere from 50-200. It needs to be applied with your initial reservation. I will assume it's stackable with shareholder OBC. We haven't pulled the trigger with HAL yet. Their largest ships are 99.5 K tons. Haven't been on a ship that small in well over 10 years, think it was the Carnival Spirit in the Mexican Riviera.
  3. Cruise legal with no surge protection. Nice, compact and provides extra plug- ins when needed.
  4. In case anyone is interested, here is a picture of the gift I received when I signed up. Don't know if it's still an option or not.
  5. We hate the long wait at Gigi's/Alfredo's as well on certain days for lunch. The changes should hopefully make the wait to be less. The only problem we have is the two time visit rule being the same no matter the length of your cruise. We don't utilize room service, so it doesn't matter to us.
  6. Princess is late to the ship within a ship concept. NCL, RCI, MSC and X have all had it for years. I made my comments on the Sun thread that the old guard Princess cruiser needs to accept change and go with the flow. There are many old school Princess cruisers that have not cruised on the Royal ships or maybe they did once and don't like it. If they are against the Royal Class and the changes it brought to the cruise line then more than likely they won't cruise on the Sphere Class. Either way, it really doesn't matter. It is very similar to old school Carnival cruisers that don't like the Excel Class ships because they are too big and have too many cruisers. It's safe to assume that these cruisers have never sailed on the newer builds of NCL and RCI. Many have said that Carnival was behind the times and stagnant with their builds. The result was the implementation of the Excel Class. It could be said that Princess is taking a page out of Carnival's playbook with the implementation of a substantially larger class of ship. Yet instead of what Carnival has done with the Excel Class, Princess is implementing the ship within a ship concept and at the same time having about 2000 less passengers on board. I think it's going to be a real nice class of ship. If the old school Princess cruiser disagrees, they still have a plethora of options in the fleet to choose from.
  7. The only mainstream cruise lines that I'm aware of that include soda for free are Disney and Virgin.
  8. I've seen people bringing them back from port stops as well. There's a CVS right across the street from the pier in San Juan.
  9. Yes, they changed things I think sometime during the shutdown. It's a shame, but we don't make the rules, we just play the game. As far as I'm concerned, their diamond status is the only one with anything substantial, similar to Carnival. It's not like Diamond on RCI, which is several levels from top status, yet you get four free drinks per day and once you reach Platinum on NCL, you get two dinners for two in a specialty venue.
  10. He's an awesome guy. He primarily cruises on Carnival but is going to be branching out and going on NCL to Alaska soon He usually does live threads that are very popular.
  11. Chris "The Flying Scotsman " Williams was memorable on multiple sailing of the Mardi Gras with us. But that was it out of 25 cruises.
  12. He's a link to every menu you could possibly want on Carnival https://www.saintgregtravel.com/menus/
  13. It's available in three different areas. There is one up in the main buffet area on Lido deck (16) and the second one is located on deck 8 aft in Guy's Pig n Anchor. There might be a third one in the area across from pizzeria del capitano, which is also on deck 8. Otherwise, it's at every bar.
  14. 1. yes, inferior is my opinion because I am comparing it to what I have seen on other mainstream lines. 2. I also do more days on other lines, have 4 cruises on Princess, 51 on other lines. 3. No, what I think what many Princess passengers want is not to be charged at Alfredo's, not have to pay for room service, not have to pay for the Ocean Now activation, have package cruisers not be relegated to only 2 casual visits whether their cruise is 7 or 24 days and receive a simple email letting them know about all of the changes. 4. No, I never said anything before I ever set foot on a Princess ship, unless you're referring to the Sphere Class, which no one has set foot on yet. I was just comparing my personal experience on 28 days cruising on two different Royal Class ships and lamenting the fact that the buffet items did not contain any cooked to order options for lunch unlike some of their competitors.
  15. I never said I wanted to change anything about the inferior offerings at the lunch buffet on the Royal Class ships except that it would be nice to have a grilled option similar to X. That's it, cut and dried. You're on one side of the line in the sand proudly waving the Princess flag, while I'm standing on the other side of the line and this time I'm the one who's laughing. You enjoy the inferior lunch buffet, when we're on the Enchanted, we'll be at Gigi's each port day, even if we have to pay. Embarkation and sea days it's the MDR. Hopefully they'll improve the offerings on the Sphere Class for lunch.
  16. Everybody has an opinion and I don't know if you can get a filet or lamb chops cooked to order on Virgin or not. If you can, great, but I'll never get the opportunity since Virgin is not our cup of tea from the various YouTube videos that I have seen of their offerings.
  17. We keep going round and round on this topic, yet you keep bringing up the buffet at dinner and my entire gripe was not about dinner but the LUNCHTIME offerings. And if I went twice or 14 days, it would not matter. I was making a direct correlation between the lunchtime offerings on Princess versus X and even mentioning Carnival, since their variety of lunch offerings can't be touched by any of the mainstream cruise lines. Possibly Virgin, but we have never sailed on them.
  18. I hate buffets in general. Like things cooked to order. If I go at breakfast, I'll get a cooked to order omelette I obviously tried a few of the buffet offerings on both the Discovery as well as the Majestic. But, ended up getting the great Noodle Bowl offerings on the Majestic instead. It was the only thing that we really disliked about either ship. The MDR, Alfredo's/Gigi's, the IC, Good Spirits all were great. But this one downfall has not deterred us from cruising on Princess.
  19. Like I've said, whether you have eaten at the buffet once or 100 times, you still know that what they offer is inferior to what you can get at X.
  20. Keep laughing, Princess buffet still s*cks for lunch. Once again, only have to eat there once at lunchtime to know how things are. And if the Discovery doesn't offer grilled items at lunch, why would any of the older ships offer it? Easy way to fix things though, we'll just pony up money to eat at Gigi's.
  21. I was making my comparison based upon actually eating the food at the Princess buffet compared to what I had on other ships, not only looking at the offerings, but if I was able to get a cooked to order protein on X for lunch and after walking around the entire buffet on Princess I discover they have no grilled options, then I know what my limited choices are.
  22. The industry is on the uptick at this point, so I guess the only way to figure things out would be if all of a sudden there are many cancellations from those that have not yet made final payment. I would expect it to be a low number though.
  23. I agree. The majority of the basic fare people that are upset about the changes with room service, ocean now and Alfredo's are mainly blowing air and they will remain loyal.
  24. Another cruise line that has better lunch time options than Princess.
