  1. We currently have B2B's booked on her for October/November of 2024 and January of 2025 when she will be in the Caribbean. Very excited and looking forward to be on the new jewel of the line. Will be booking on her again or possibly her sister ship the Star when Caribbean bookings open up for November of 2025.
  2. If you want to go during the spring or summer, the Rhapsody OTS has a few different itineraries with either 4 or 5 cruise stops, including visiting the ABC's. During the fall/winter the Jewel OTS visits 5 ports with a sea day and the brand new NCL Viva will spend the winter there doing 6 port stop cruises with zero sea days.
  3. Marlon Brando would buy a "Stella" no matter what the cost. 🤔
  4. For the 60 per day you pay on Princess, it would cost just over 100 on Carnival between Cheers (pre paid), plus Cheers tips, cabin gratuity and wifi. It's about a 600.00 savings per couple for a 7 day cruise. So even if the base fare was 200 more pp, you're still saving 200 per couple. You forgot that the drink tips are included on Princess and additional with Cheers.
  5. The drinks max out at 15 for plus and 20 for premier. This is a list from last year when the limits were 12 and 18. https://profcruise.com/the-new-princess-beverage-packages-with-updated-bar-menus/ Edit: Just found a June 2023 update on line with all of the menus from the Majestic listed. https://eatsleepcruise.com/majestic-princess-bar-guide/
  6. Just to clarify Ken, the Premier guests will be able to dine at all of the casual dining locations as often as they would like. Those who purchased the Plus package can dine there only twice during the length of their cruise, whether their cruise is 4 days in length or 21 or more days in length. Everyone has the option to dine at Alfredo's/Gigi's a la carte as well. It's been reported that the newer ships with the expanded menu are charging 12.00 for the pizza while the older ships with the limited menu are charging 8.50 for the pizza. Slices on Lido is still free, but it's inferior pizza IMHO. The 15.00 charge at Alfredo's gives you 1 app, 1 entree/pizza and 1 dessert. Two could share it for lunch since there is no not sharing mentioned on the menu (yet).
  7. I guess we have different meanings of the term very recently. We were on the Prima repo cruise last October that went from Galveston to Miami for 11 days and were able to buy our Vibe passes well over 6 months out. So that policy has been in effect for at least 16 months. Did it again on our Feb/March B2B, so we had Vibe for 25 days.
  8. It was mentioned in the now locked thread during the travel agent seminar that a poster provided a link to over a week ago. The higher commissions given to the TA's for selling the plus and premier would obviously be their incentive to push them.
  9. Fortunately Carnival has done it for us on our 7 day B2B's on the Mardi Gras and our two future B2B's on the Celebration. When we did a B2B on the Discovery in 2022 and the Majestic this year, we got $100.00 for each leg.
  10. Since we'll be away for so long, we'll take a Lyft to & from PHL, which is of course cheaper than going all the way to EWR. My DH would prefer the 21 day version of our trip if we added the 4 day front end in the Discovery, but I don't like being away from our dog too long. The original trip that violated the PVSA was 15 nights and the new one with the extra day is 17.
  11. Since we prefer non stop flights, flying into Vancouver is out because there are zero options out of Philly or Newark. We have decided to do the 7 day on the Discovery from May 4-11, disembark for a day and see my daughter and then hop on the 9 day sailing of the NCL Joy on May 12. We would be able to fly non stop on both ends of our cruise via Seattle.
  12. Makes sense to a certain extent since it was reported that the agencies receive x% of commission for standard fare, a slightly higher commission for the plus package and an even higher % for the premier package.
  13. Your mistake was made when you ordered a drink via the app. If it ever comes to a point where my DH or myself can't get our own drinks at a bar, it's time to just stay home. We have never used the app to order a drink and only used it once last year on the Discovery to order club sandwiches while enjoying a few drinks at Good Spirits. Took just over a half hour at 1030 pm. The only people that have to pay for this delivery are bare bones cruisers that need to pay the 14.99 activation fee that will be kicking in this month or possibly plus package people that only payed 50.
  14. I would defer to the latter Tom, after all the mods have a difficult time dealing with the opinions of many on here and have to sometimes place some people in the sin bin. Gotta give them their due and put a smile on their face if some did squirm a bit.
  15. It's not whether the income from cruise fares are more or less than the income from on board spending. It's which of the two areas add more profits to the bottom line. The income generated by cruise fares allows the ship to meet operating costs, but the on board spending is what generates the profits, with bars, casinos and excursions leading the way.
  16. If the specialty coffee includes alcohol such as Bailey's or Kahlua or Amaretto, then it would count towards your 15 per day. If you get an espresso it certainly does not. Know this from first hand experience on the Discovery as well as the Majestic. If they are counting it against your 15 at the IC on the Ruby with a drink that contains no alcohol, I would be speaking to the manager of the IC immediately.
  17. Possible chaos on a single ship doesn't mean that it's the same way on every sailing of every ship in the fleet. We've sailed on Princess for 28 days over the past 15 months and never had a problem getting a drink when we wanted to. The only problem we encountered was a 20 minute wait for two seats at the bar at Good Spirits on a single evening.
  18. Thanks for your help everyone. It basically comes down to a few options. We could do the four day LA-Van, take the Princess shuttle to Sea and then spend four days in Sea after spending one night in LA pre cruise. And then either do 7 or 14 days SEA-SEA on the Discovery. Second option is to fly into VAN, take the four day to SEA, do either 7 or probably 14 on the Discovery which is SEA-SEA and then see my daughter on the back end before flying home. The third is to just do 14 B2B on the Discovery and then we could do the visit on the front end or back end. The fourth option is to do the May 4-11 on the Discovery (Sea-Sea), get off spend the day with my daughter and then the following day hop on the NCL Joy for a 9 day cruise. Looks like the first option is too complicated with 5 nights of hotels added, so we'll have to decide amongst the other choices. Will have to discuss with DH, but leaning towards the second option or possibly the fourth.
  19. Was referring to ocean cruise ships, not river ones.
  20. The Pride of America from NCL is the only US flagged vessel I'm aware of.
  21. If we flew into Vancouver, which is a pain since it not non stop, and did the four day to Seattle, stayed on board and did Alaska for another 7 days, then we would be reducing our trip from 15 days to 11 days. This would be legal, but if ending in Seattle, there is no way to start in San Pedro.
  22. If Vancouver is not a distant foreign port, then how does the Discovery legally do a four day cruise that goes from San Pedro to Vancouver and makes zero port stops?
  23. That's the whole purpose, to visit my daughter in Seattle on the back end. Also wanted short four day cruises to take advantage of the Premier package. Very frustrated over this, especially after the PVP never mentioned any problems.
  24. Not flying coast to coast for a four day cruise or even a seven day cruise. I realize we are going from LA to Seattle, but if the la to Vancouver is ok because it ends in Vancouver and the Vancouver to Seattle is ok because it starts in Vancouver and Vancouver is this considered a distant port, why the violation? I assume it would still be a violation if we eliminated the La-La portion and added a Sea-Sea Alaska portion on the back end?
