  1. You could always get the jab if you really wanted to go swimming at Margaritaville or visit Jack's Shack. 😉
  2. No omelet station at Pig n Anchor buffet at breakfast just a scaled down version that is available at the Lido buffet.
  3. LOL, MSC is a European skewed entry level cruise line attempting to gain foothold on this side of the pond. Since I have sailed on MSC, RCI, NCL, Carnival, Celebrity and Princess I can make a comparison based on first hand experience. The only comparison between MSC and Celebrity is the ship within a ship concept on many of their ships with the Yacht Club and the Retreat. That's where the comparison ends, IMHO.
  4. My comment had nothing to do with pax that each class holds. It has been reported by multiple reviewers that the buffet on Prima is 1/3 the size of the Breakaway Plus ships. So I inquired regarding the buffet size of the jewel class, not the pax capacity comparison.
  5. Don't know which of the older ships have deco deli or it's corresponding menu, but the Celebration's deli menu should be identical to the Piazza Panini from the Mardi Gras.
  6. The Celebration will be over 2,000 gross tons more in order for those 46 cabins to be added. See the chart in post #15.
  7. The French Quarter area will be replaced so Brass Magnolia and Fortune Teller will no longer be there, but Emeril's is staying. The Fortune Teller bar is being replaced by a drinks from around the world. Hopefully the new drinks will be more go than show, which was my interpretation of the offerings at Fortune Teller.

  10. This debate has been discussed ad nauseum on so many different threads I have lost count. The bottom line is that if you're a light drinker who has to take into account whether a certain day is at sea or in a port, then don't buy Cheers. If you're a teetotaler, obviously don't buy Cheers. If you're an above average drinker that likes to imbibe while on vacation, then save money, enjoy your time at sea and good luck getting a seat at Alchemy.
  11. But, was the original Love Boat anything like a real cruise? Did you ever have the cruise director, the daughter of the captain, a bartender, the purser or the ship's doctor ever interact with you in such a way as to help you get out of a jam or help you with your love life?
  12. LOL. They take your laundry and the laundry of 50 of your closest cruise acquaintances, put them in individual mesh bags and then throw all of them together into an industrial sized washer using hot water. Then after the spin cycle, they get shifted to a dryer on high so that they can put your clothes back into a fresh paper bag and have your cabin steward return them to you the following day. Requesting perfume and dye free detergents are relegated to other cruise lines further up the chain.
  13. Even on a port day, you can drink on the ship for at least 5 hours. One drink per hour and you're even.
  14. Excel Class. Each class of ship has improved on the previous one for various reasons.
  15. You're getting a Vista Class hand me down from Costa that will sail out of Long Beach, can't have that one plus an Excel Class ship.
  16. It's all a matter of perspective just like food reviews are subjective. We were on the MG for 2 weeks in February and again for 2 weeks around Labor Day. The highest we had was 6000 people. Was it crowded at times, yes, but you have to know how to deal with it. There are multiple outlets for lunch so it never felt busy. If the line was really long at Blue Iguana, we just went elsewhere. The worst thing was waiting for a seat at Alchemy one night for 20 minutes.
  17. Thanks Bird. Looking forward to everything about the cruise except waiting in line outside Syd's.
  18. So, would it then be 1/2 the size of a Jewel Class ship? Don't know since all 4 of our NCL cruises were on the Bliss & Escape.
  19. The open deck space is on deck 8, Ocean Blvd, which has twice the open deck space as the Waterfront has on the Breakaway and Breakaway Plus Class ships and you can do a 360 all around the ship. Syd Norman's and the Improv are small and will be a problem. As things progress, some more of the shows will have to be switched to the theater similar to how it is now done on the Prima and is done with the Beatles tribute bands being switched from the cavern Club to the theater once a week on the Bliss and the Encore. We figured it was going to be a game changer for NCL similar to how the Excel Class is a game changer for Carnival. We are on the 11 day repo cruise from Galveston to Miami next week and on a B2B at the end of February out of Port Canaveral. The Prima is leaving Galveston tomorrow for a 4 night private sailing for 100 teachers and their families that won a contest. The entertainment at the festivities is Kelly Clarkson.
  20. Just read a breakdown via position comparison. It gave the Astros the edge in 8/11 areas, with the Phillies having the better catcher, DH and 1st baseman. The Astros had the other six positional players as well as better starting pitching and a better bullpen. On paper, it should be Astros in six, winning the first two at home, taking 1 out of the 3 in Philly and closing it at home. But you never know.
  21. Unfortunately the Phillies don't have a Matthew, Mark, Luke or John in their lineup. But they certainly have had many "Big-Innings" in the post season.
  22. Then they will be in for a rude awakening when they see the buffet is 1/3 the size of the buffet on the Away Plus ships.
  23. 6 1/2 days till we embark. 👍. Need to play it smart and enjoy our embarkation lunch at Hudson's. The Indulge Food Hall should be a madhouse since it's brand new.
  24. Sail away rates are on NCL. They sometimes get gobbled up by travel agents and on some sailings do not offer that much savings over their regular rates, which are the rates that the "Free at Sea" are based upon. The sailaway rate would be a bare bones rate with no perks attached, so you don't get the drinks package for 20 bucks a day to cover tips or the other perks that NCL includes.
