  1. As you can tell by the pictures, there is a big difference between the areas on the Vista Class versus the Excel Class. The Vista Class is deck five aft with a good size pool, two hot tubs and two tiki huts that you can soak your feet in with a beautiful view of the wake of the ship. On the Excel, you get a pool that is even smaller than the hot tubs on the Vista Class. It's also on deck 8 starboard side with not much of a view. If the price difference wasn't too much and you're sailing over the summer or spring break, it's worth considering, otherwise I'd pass.
  2. Looking forward to reading your take on the Celebration and comparing it with the MG. Especially looking forward to your opinion regarding the new bars that replaced Brass Magnolia and Fortune Teller, the Golden Jubilee and Latitudes. We'll be on her for five days in January, 14 in September and another 14 in January of 2024.
  3. The Bills were the home team in Detroit today and they'll be the away team there on Thanksgiving.
  4. On cruise elegant night, my DH likes to get his rare prime rib and single lobster tail as a surf n turf combination and eat them together, not as separate entrees.
  5. Each of the Cucinas have their unique captains dish and the menus are different on the Excel Class ships. The tomahawk pork chop on the Vista Class Cucinas are excellent, but are missing on the Mardi Gras and I assume on the Celebration. With the increase to 48.00, I don't think the steakhouse provides value. But many will since food is subjective.
  6. That would be appropriate since the cartoned water is Flow.
  7. Makes zero sense that there are more options for dessert at a special lunch time MDR seating than the one lone choice you get at dinner time. (Besides of course the sugar free option, or ice cream or fruit)
  8. There are currently no 7 night cruises out of Galveston and there won't be any until the Prima home ports there after her TA next fall. We were on the 11 night repositioning cruise from Galveston to Miami. The only major problems were the size of the Improv and Syd's, the size of the main pool and the juggling and cancellations of many of the shows. Small tweaks will be done to the Viva and now since Prima Plus #3 is pushed back to 2025, hopefully major improvements will be made to eliminate the current problems with the Prima.
  9. Just wanted to clarify in case some readers were contemplating getting insurance based upon what they're reading here. Covid forced my DH into an early retirement so we have substantially increased our cruising from 14 nights per year to 78 this year and 86 in 2023. The annual policy makes logical sense to us and streamlining it to medical and evacuation only also makes it much more financially feasible than an all encompassing policy.
  10. Things are different on the Prima, so be prepared. Not all of the bars have blenders, so that eliminates all frozen drinks. But of course the outside bars have them so you'll be covered at the pool bar, speedway bar and food hall bar. But, if you like mojitos, there is no specific mojito bar and not all of the other bars stock mint. The Metropolitan Bar heavily relies on their premade sustainable drinks, which are delicious for the most part. Just go into your trip in January on the Prima with an open mind.
  11. Because the Prima is set up to be different from other ship experiences. At the Metropolitan Bar, they rely on their sustainable drink menu and supplement it with some basic drinks. There are drinks though that the Chocolate Cowboy will not make including mojitos and margaritas. Mainly because the bar doesn't stock the needed ingredients like mint. I did bite my tongue one night there when a patron walked up and asked about a margarita. Clarence said no and even though I saw no cartoned margarita mix, the fresh lemon, lime and orange juices along with simple syrup could have been mixed with tequila and triple sec to concoct a proper margarita.
  12. You'll enjoy Eden. He knows how to work a room.
  13. But 151 for 3 people is a single trip policy, right? We got the Geo Blue annual essential plan for 500,000 of coverage and 250,000 of evacuation for 250 for the two of us. Have not had to place a claim thank goodness, but the piece of mind is great.
  14. Not sure how the set up is, but on the Excel Class ships of Carnival there is a weight limit on the bolt roller coaster and you get a green light for under 300 and a red light for over 300. It's not an actual scale that lets people know exactly how much you weigh.
  15. He's currently top man in the fleet. Saw him for the first time back in August of 2019 on the Horizon. It was the last week of his contract. Teary eyed co-workers saw him off with a cake on the last night. Saw him on the Mardi Gras in February and again in August. He then transferred to the inaugural of the Celebration.
  16. But couldn't two people use one certificate at lunchtime on the Escape and share the four selections?
  17. Prior to our 10/31 cruise, Syd's is where you signed up. As of our cruise, the sign up was adjacent to the main theater box office. There were about 6-7 workers signing people up with laptops. There was a check off sheet that you handed in and then they keyed in what your choices were and you were advised as to what was available and what wasn't. The comedy shows at the Improv filled up and were all gone within the first hour of signups. Shows at the main theater were obtainable. Donna Summers, Noise Boys, Price is Right, Press Your Luck (cancelled) and multiple comedy shows. In the future, Supermarket Sweep and Beat the Clock will be options. No reservations are available for the shows at Syd's.
  18. At the Blue Iguana Cafe there are three choices at breakfast. A breakfast burrito, arepas and huervo rancheros, all made to your specifications in front of you. Have a great cruise on the Pride.
  19. Limited selections. Only Diet choice is Diet Coke. Coke Zero is available at the bars though from a can.
  20. Best option when we were at Seadogs back in February was the pretzel roll option. They did not have it when we were on the MG again at labor day.
  21. And better options at dinner time, both choice wise and quality wise.
  22. That's good because if you were born last night then you would be too young to take advantage of the Cheers program.
  23. Gotta love Dynamic Pricing. Makes you feel all fuzzy all over. 124 bucks for Coco Beach Club and 67.99 plus gratuity for Dlx Drink Package. Over 1100 for drink package for 7 days. The only thing of value is lunch at Chops for 25 with gratuity and Jaime's for 20 with gratuity. This is for April 2023 on Anthem.
