  1. If 10% of the 200 Haven guests take advantage of the early entry to Syd's perk, that means that 20/50 or 40% of the available seats will be for Haven guests.
  2. Fully aware of it. Just have to hope that there are not too many Prima-Donna's from the Haven taking up the majority of the real estate in Syd's on our 25 nights on the ship between the end of the month and March.
  3. We are on the 11 day repo cruise from Galveston at the end of the month and a B2B in Feb/March from Port Canaveral. Looking forward to 11 nights of specialty meals and 11 days in the Vibe.
  4. 40 was a slam dunk, 50 almost as much. After factoring out the gratuities, you have about 70 left over. If wifi, coffee and soda were considered gravy, then all you need to do to break even was consume 6 alcoholic drinks per day. If DW had 2 and DH had 4, you're good to go and the aforementioned wifi, coffee, soda and any additional alcoholic beverages would all be considered gravy.
  5. It certainly was the best way to watch the undefeated Philadelphia Iggles defeat the Cowboys last night!!
  6. Here's an option.....do the Prima in Jan/Feb with better weather, ignore the ports and stay on the ship, then do your freebie on Oasis class in April.
  7. So, 3 drinks and you're slightly ahead, more drinks and you're easily ahead. And the sea days it's worth it and port days it's not holds no water whatsoever. On a port day you're still back on board by 5 and even if you go to bed early at 10, that gives you 5 hours to consume 3 alcoholic drinks. You could have 2 glasses of wine with dinner and a Bailey's with your coffee if you even just wish to drink at dinner.
  8. Pepsi, Diet Pepsi, Pepsi Zero Sugar, Sierra Mist, Diet Sierra Mist, Mug Root Beer, Mountain Dew, Diet MT Dew, ginger ale, club soda, tonic water, bloody mary mix, tomato juice, cranberry juice, orange juice, pineapple juice, grapefruit juice, ginger beer and 3 different Cuban sodas on ships with a Havana Bar.
  9. Your best bet on the Horizon is to go to Cucina del Capitano in the evening as well as Jiji's and pay the 15.00 or 18.00 if that's what they are now charging. The tomahawk pork chop at Cucina was one of the better meals that I have had in 24 cruises on Carnival. On embarkation as well as on sea days both venues offer cooked to order noodle and pasta dishes at lunch time similar to Mongolian Wok and the Captains Pasta Bar on other ships in the fleet. The lunch time options are free.
  10. Did a B2B over Labor Day on the Mardi Gras with 6000 and 5700 passengers. Getting a drink at the bars during the day was never too long of a wait because there are so many bars to choose from for day time drinking. Now, in the evening you could have a wait getting a seat at the Alchemy Bar.
  11. If you would prefer to do the Southern Itinerary that the Horizon is doing combined with the Eastern, visiting Amber Cove, San Juan and St. Maarten, then the B2B on the Celebration on 9/9/23, followed by a 7 day on 9/17/23 would be an option. The Celebration does the exact same 8 day itinerary you have reserved the following week out of Miami on the Horizon and the eastern is a 7 day instead of the 6 day you're thinking about. The 6 day on the Celebration is on 9/3 and goes to the west. Both are Miami embarkation ports.
  12. Was on a B2B in January on the Celebrity Apex. Was on a B2B in February on the Mardi Gras. Was on a B2B in April on the Discovery Princess. Was on a B2B in June on the Oasis OTS. Was on another B2B on the MG over Labor Day. Guess what all four different cruise lines had in common? We had to get off the ship and have each cruise line swipe our cards. We then had to wait until each ship was zeroed out before embarkation for the next week could start. We were obviously the first people back on board after facial recognition. Did not interact at all with customs on any of the five different B2B's until the back half was completed and we were on our way to the airport (or our car in Bayonne). So there was no game played by Carnival and Carnival did nothing different or out of the ordinary compared to the other lines.
  13. Recently looked at a 69.00 excursion on our upcoming Encore cruise in January. Under my DH, it said 19.00 due and under my name it said 69.00 due. If only my DH took the excursion, he would have paid 19.00 by having the 50.00 credit applied.
  14. We sailed on the Bliss in 2019 in steerage and had no problem getting into the Cavern Club by showing up early and never saw a bunch of people sitting the venue already. Unfortunately have been advised that the Prima-donnas on the Prima have gotten escorted to cut the line at Syd's on the Prima. Having a roped off section in the theater is acceptable but having 20 people escorted into a venue with 50 seats while others wait in line for 30-60 minutes is an extremely bitter pill to swallow.
  15. Is there a specific reason why you only chose NCL ships for Alaska when you have never sailed them but do have a Prima sailing booked? Princess and Holland America are the experts for Alaska and your friend did have a good time on the Diamond Princess. We have a 14 day sailing on the Majestic Princess next year out of Vancouver which has a similar observation lounge in the front of the ship like the Bliss and Encore. It sails out of Vancouver and could be done as a seven day either north or south bound if 14 days is too long. Another option is to choose a 7 day sailing combined with a land package. Both Princess and Holland offer this option, unlike their competition. Food for thought.
  16. The observation lounge is smaller on the Prima as opposed to the Encore, Bliss and Joy because the guts of the area was removed to make room for the galaxy pavilion. The pavilion if you don't know is a major money maker for NCL. You can use it by singular activity, hourly rental or daily rental. Another area for a money grab, just like the darts area or 9 hole mini golf on Ocean Blvd.
  17. Par for the course with NCL, offer people something and then take it away. Luckily we were able to get one for our January Encore cruise.
  18. Sorry, but you roll the dice when you try to cruise during hurricane season and when you read the T&C's, the cruise lines butts are covered. Many cruisers on cruise critic have had ports cancelled or entire cruises changed to a new destination for various reasons whether it be weather related or possibly mechanically oriented with a ship. The deck is not stacked against the little guy, the little guy just needs to be aware of all of the nuances involved when they decide to travel during hurricane season. The mechanical problems could happen at any time, so complications could occur year round.
