  1. I set up Starlink in cabin on my last cruise. I think it worked well: Funny thing, I kept hearing Momba.
  2. No, we're talking about dress codes, not about showing up for your cruise or not. I'M KIDDING!
  3. Too bad. The design engineers should have thought of that.
  4. Is it a disagreement or do we have differing experiences?
  5. It is your right to make judgments about people and things. I'd fight to the death for you to have that right. You should be able to have those judgments. However, it's how, where, and with whom you present those judgements. I'm not saying that you have done what I'm about to say, it's a general comment. I find fault with those that try to force, by force I mean by hard suggestion, non-factual assumption/information, provable facts, and social pressure to do or not do something as mundane as wearing shorts to a dining room. Discussing what you want in you inner circle about such mundane issues like shorts in a dining room is common place. What someone wears in a dining room has no effect on anybody else. Discussing the Internet on a ship, the food, the cabin service does effect just about everybody else on a cruise ship, the cruising public. Well, I'm off to do my daily 3.5 and I'm going to do it in shorts LOL.
  6. Totally agree. But, there is a time, place, and appropriateness for everything. Hell, I've done my fair share of criticizing RCCL's IT department and Landside Operations in general and so has many others. Lot's of opinions about food, too. But, none of it, from what I've read, tried to make it about politics or social agendas.
  7. The reason for my liking the Quest so much isn't because of how it is organized, the repetitiveness or anything like that. I'm a people watcher and I like to watch the Quest participants, how they react, what they are willing to do and so on. The administration of the Quest could be the same for a hundred years but it's the people/participants that make it entertaining, for me.
  8. Yep! I brought my cloths washer and dryer operated by USB, 2.4v. No problem. Well, kinda hard to find a space in the cabin for them though. But, it all come out in the wash!
  9. Are you sure it was a RCCL requirement or were they following the Port's rules? I tend to believe it was/is the port's rules. But, who knows!
  10. I think it is "crazy" "ENTERTAINMENT" that has no social redeeming value, at all. If it isn't your thing, don't go. If it isn't your thing because of you politics, agenda, ideology, don't go. I don't agree with a lot of things that go on with a lot of things. I just don't go to those events/locations. I express my dislike by utilizing my vote, feet and wallet. But, I don't try to social engineer in social media sites unless it is a political site, this ain't one of 'em. No, this is not intended to be a political post/discussion. This is a behavior discussion for me. Just let people enjoy what they want as long as it isn't hurting you, especially if you aren't even there. I don't like ballet, I don't go. I don't like liver, I don't eat it.
  11. LOL. Sounds like a plan. However, as of now, I have never cruised on the same ship twice, on RCCL or Rustbucket. So, I don't know what table, by number, is good or bad. I'm still working may way through the Quantum and Oasis class ships. I did one none Quantum and Oasis but I don't think I'll do that again (the Independence, it was a need, a desire, a must do, to cruise, having withdrawals, in the fetal position flopping like a fish, any ship in the port type situation LOL). I really really prefer Oasis Class, though. Oh, I really can't pinpoint any one thing that makes me not want to cruise on Independence again. I just know I really like Oasis Class better.
  12. As long as the new menu has French Onion Soup and Shrimp Cocktail on it every night, I'll be happy. I can make due with the other selections as long as they have beef available. Hell, I can make a meal out of just the soup and cocktail. However, we usually only eat in the MDR once per cruise anyway. So, the MDR really isn't much of an issue for us anyway. - On our last cruise, Independence, Oct/Nov 2022, we didn't care for the MDR at all. So, we only eat there once. Pre-cruise we selected the early dining time and I also requested a table for two. I fully understand that there are no guarantees as to table assignment. But, they stuck us seated at a table for 8. That's far from two. I talked to the Maitra d and he said he had a very nice table for two at a window but it was available only at the 8:00 PM seating. We accepted and the table was for two and it was at a window but it was next to impossible to move between it and the tables next to it. Hell, we might as well have been seated at the same table with the people next to us, both sides. No matter what our experience, good or bad, with the MDR in the past, we will almost always give it a try, at least once per cruise. Really depends on specialty restaurant availability (not an issue when going Star) and activities.
  13. It is hard to offend me! I totally and completely enjoy the Quest and so does my wife. However, we would not bring our less than 16 year old grandkids into the Quest. That's not a judgement of others that do, unless there are rules against it and I don't know if there is or isn't. Then it's a rule following issue, if there is. That's just how I/we feel about it with our own gkids. I also think that the maturity level of the person is a consideration. Hell, I've seen some seniors that shouldn't be allowed to experience the Quest, LOL. NOTE: This has nothing to do with the Quest, but I guess it could. But, I find it very funny and idiotic at the same time when people go into an "Adult" comedy show, one that is very well advertised and has several signs going in stating that it is an "Adult" comedy show AND then come out complaining about the language used by the comedian and/or that they were picked on by the comedian. PLEASE!
  14. I was on the 2nd revenue producing cruise of the season, post COVID debacle, out of Seattle in May 2022, on the Ovation, 3 ports of call in Alaska and one in Canada. There were absolutely no restrictions as to having to take an excursion to get off the ship. We could just walk off and go anywhere we wanted. Now, Canada had some rules about masking but it didn't bother us as we didn't get off in Canada. But, I'm fairly sure that Canada has done away with those masking rules by now.
  15. Like many others in here, I am a rule follower. However, I go by the golden rule that words mean things. A suggestion is just that, a suggestion, no matter where you live. I also wear, at least, a nice pair of blue jeans and a Polo or button down shirt only out of respect for my wife. She's a little more formal than I (happy wife, happy life). I also wear a hat into the MDR or specialty restaurant. If I remember to take it off or if reminded by my wife, I take it off when I get seated. But, you know what? When I see someone in the MDR or specialty restaurant on "formal" night wearing shorts and a T, my meal was just as good or bad as if that someone was wearing a Tux. Now, on occasion some people are entertaining the way they dress, that's for sure. But, I can smile or laugh and still enjoy my family/friends and my meal, good or bad, regardless of how others are dressed, as long as it is not obscene. Royal uses the words "Suggestion" and "Acceptable Options" to describe their dress code. I don't feel that is anything more than what it says. I don't think "respect" enters into it, at all. https://www.royalcaribbean.com/faq/questions/generic-onboard-dress-code "When you’re onboard, the right look will vary by venue. But here are a few types of suggested attire you’ll see, grouped by item. Formal nights Think of our formal dress code as a night out in your best black-tie look — suits and ties, tuxedos, cocktail dresses or evening gowns are all acceptable options. There can be 1 to 4 formal nights during a sailing and is at the ship’s discretion. Our Chef’s Table dining experience also enforces a formal dress code policy".
  16. It may have been gold plated but I understand he recoated it with SAFTRAX.
  17. Just to be clear, I'm no wine snob. I like it cheap or expensive. In fact, some of the cheapest wines are very good.
  18. This may sound like a wise guy response. But, it's not intended to be. It's a buffet! It's what you make of it. I know of people that absolutely love buffets and others that can't stand them. My oldest daughter absolutely hates buffets. She won't go to them, period. Buffets are like summers, summer good, summer bad. One may be great today and terrible tomorrow. You may hate the buffet and and the person next to you may love it. What I'm trying to get to is: Don't make any decisions about any restaurant, and things in general, based upon other's opinion of it/them. Just go ahead and experience it for yourself.
  19. 24 consecutive hours, or can they be broken-up throughout the entire cruise I understand that you said "one" 24 hour period. But, just checking.
  20. Great review. All positive. Good job!
  21. Whatever RCCL can buy in large quantity and cheaply, I'm sure. Sorry, that really doesn't help with your question. But, that's how I feel about it.
