  1. You can opt out of anything it does. I am surprised Royal hasn't adopted some of the ideas...the keep trying the bands but never seem to perfect it. This is much better technology
  2. Just a heads up, Fantastica gives you the option to "request" a dining time, but I don't think it guarantees it.
  3. I'm on the Aug 31 Enchanted sailing as well (did YOU know it was a Love boat themed cruise...because I didn't until after I booked, lol). Everything I've gathered is that it leaves from Brooklyn.
  4. We are doing our first Princess cruise in August, the medallion thing sounds really neat, you can even find others in your party on the screens in the hallway, or you can have food delivered right to your pool side seat....if it works the way it's supposed to, it's definitely a great idea.
  5. Thank you for this, I just jumped in and caught up. Sailing Seascape in December on almost the same Itinerary (they took Nassau out and added a sea day). This will be our first MSC cruise so really appreciating the menus, daily schedules and pics!!
  6. Well I don't speak for everyone, then. But I think MOST people are fine with once a day. Like @island lady said above, I hated feeling rushed out or in the way in the morning. Come while I'm at dinner, then the room is all ready for bed time later on. But if having your table dusted and toilet paper folded over twice a day makes your vacation better, then I guess you'll adjust (or get a suite)
  7. Yep. Well I speak for most non-needy or messy people. I have no idea what reason there is to have someone come in your room twice a day, I hated when they came in twice, Last cruise we even told her she could skip a day or two because we didn't need anything. Unless you make a lot of trash, or you find it necessary to have your floor vacuumed twice a day, I can't think of why they need to be in your room twice.
  8. Well it's the same on a ship- you'll get it twice a day in the "upper echelon" rooms or cruise lines. But the basic rooms get it once a day, and that's more than enough for most people. Most average hotels are not even doing that and have signs asking you to call them if you want service if you are only there for a few days.
  9. Although this all sucks, it's a chance you take when you book anything new. I won't book a cruise within a few months of its first sailing, I won't buy the newest gadget until the 2nd or 3rd version of It comes out and I won't buy a car until it's been on the road a few years. New things have hiccups
  10. Does it give you an option? The ad looks like it's giving you 30,000 points...which is equal to $300
  11. They can get plenty of juices and flavored waters, iced teas and lemonades around the ship with no package. There are dispensers at the Pizza place, the cafe, the buffet and usually around the pool are and a few other spots. There are actual juice machines at the buffet and then just big jugs with taps on them all around, no cost or special cup needed.
  12. Do you have a TA? if you are booking double occupancy rooms, there are deals. I just booked 6 central park balcony rooms next to each other on Symphony for NEXT August at 2600 each. Still not quite 9700, but much less that 17,500!
  13. We've had luck both times we requested tables. Once we sent the email to them asking for a table near a window or rail, we not only got a response, but an actual table number, dining room floor, table size...everything so when we boarded we walked right to that dining room, asked where that table number was and it was right on the rail looking down at the other two floors. The 2nd time we booked through a Travel Agent and she put the request in... we ended up with the window table.
  14. We had a boardwalk balcony then an Ocean view balcony on Oasis last year... I'm gonna admit I spent more time on the boardwalk balcony. I like action, though- I'd rather sit up there and people watch, watch the games on the tvs at playmakers, see the ocean off the back end and hear the music from the Aqua show when I'm out there rather than pitch black ocean at night.
  15. That's a bit different. That was THE Hurricane in NJ. In the most part, 99% of the time, a storm isn't going to cause torrential flooding in Bayonne.
  16. We did a full Island tour as well, it was great to visit the beach and the chocolate factory and the craft places, but it was also eye opening to drive through the villages. One sight I'll never forget is driving by the town dump, and mothers and their young children were climbing on the hills of trash to find stuff of value they could salvage or sell to make a few bucks. I told my son, " anytime you complain about not having everything you want- remember this ride and what you just saw"
  17. We did Oasis twice last year and LOVED the ship, but didn't want to do that itinerary a 2nd time from NJ (the first one was from Miami so we got a little variety on the ports). So we are doing Liberty to Bermuda, as well. But I AM looking forward to the ship, We haven't done it yet, but even being a little outdated everyone seems to love it and it still has some slides and fun stuff, I'm actually excited to do a slightly smaller ship this time. I WILL miss Playmakers though.
  18. Between safety and security of your car being parked in the port and the additional cost for an Uber or Lyft on top of wherever you park, I've yet to find a better alternative to the port parking lots.
  19. It's not an excuse- they may very well have not finalized the menus for your sailing. The ones you see when you look at the app are usually the ones for the current sailing. The one for YOUR sailing usually isn't actually posted until a week or so before the cruise.
  20. The dog has a bigger cabin than some staff members, is out and about walking a lot of the day, gets runs on the beach regularly, and tons of social interaction. That's more than most dogs living in a city row home get.
  21. Rover has an Instagram account, I see that you found her, but they may post updates on her whereabouts on there occasionally, as well.
  22. Thank you both. My wife wants to book a dinner in each MDR, I feel like that's overkill...lol.
  23. This will be my first Princess cruise, so you just show up to MDR... do you not need to book a time?
  24. So I sail Liberty July 18th, so looks like Danny Turner will be on (again) I haven't had him or heard much about him.
  25. I believe it showed up under Activities, then I THINK "Games and competitions" It literally didn't show up until we were ON the ship. And it comes up under the name of the actual game, so on Oasis it was listed as "Clash for crystal city" and on Symphony it would show up as "Battle for planet Z" Yes Symphony does have it!
