X-Princess exec John Chernesky, now with NCL
PescadoAmarillo replied to Coral's topic in Princess Cruises
I wondered where he had gone, since he disappeared very abruptly. I was hoping it wasn’t a health issue and am glad to hear it wasn’t. I agree, @azbirdmom, that comment immediately struck me as being sooo out of touch (and I wonder now if he had already disconnected at that time), but he was an excellent source of information and humor for years. -
Updating my post here…the check was for a cruise that ended the third week of February and it was for the correct amount. So nice (shocking, actually) that something went exactly right…and I didn’t have to chat or phone or hold or email to make it happen.

It’s fine to use it in the slots. They specifically ask, in writing (somewhere…it’s been posted here before) that you not use the casino as an ATM. DH left the Ruby twice in recent months with refundable OBC due to him. I know, I know, but I wasn’t there to make sure it didn’t happen. I see in Informed Delivery that he has a check coming in the mail today, most likely from the first time in February. If it’s for the correct amount, it will be the first administrative thing Princess has done correctly for us, without my intervention, in four years. I’m hopeful.

About a day and half each direction, with some of it being at night. I recall from our Island Princess cruise that the scenery the first night was fantastic, plus we didn’t encounter the rough seas from going around Vancouver Island.

@JimmyVWine @Coral @Ombud @tjcletzgo Thank you all for your input. I have just cancelled our reservations on the Majestic and booked the Sapphire for 4 days later. I thought that no Princess ships went through the Inside Passage any longer, and we booked the same cabin on the Majestic that we’ve booked for several cruises next year, thinking we would see if we were happy with it, but the Inside Passage and smaller ship is a much larger draw.

Lots of "Pricing Not Available; Check Back Later" Messages?
PescadoAmarillo replied to Steelers36's topic in Princess Cruises
I’ve been encountering that for a few weeks. It’s very intermittent. The interesting thing is that I also get it in the evenings and on weekends (more understandable). -
Is this a certainty? We are booked on a B2B on the Majestic but I have a hold on a cabin on the Sapphire too, based on your recommendation. We’ve done multiple cruises on both ships, so I know the ship offerings, but the Inside Passage would be a deal breaker, if we can count on that.

No exchanges anymore for mini bar to coffee?

I can’t imagine putting clothing that’s been washed by the Princess laundry away at home without first washing it with my detergent and softener and no strangers’ skivvies. -
The pools can be heated. Whether or not they do it is another question. The Ruby doesn’t have an enclosed pool and any heat in the pool water would be quickly lost.

Yes. All week.

DMW - A new twist on an old issue
PescadoAmarillo replied to PescadoAmarillo's topic in Princess Cruises
DH dined at his regular table last night. No one had any idea why he had received the email. No one even knew that emails like that were ever sent out. It’s a mystery. -
We have always loved the energy that new passengers bring on board on turnaround day. We joke that the pervious passengers have spent all their money and miss their dogs and grandchildren, and it’s time for them to leave. There is also something to the “familiarity breeds contempt” thing. We’ve done everything from 3-night to 31-night cruises, usually B2Bs, and people do get more complain-y as time goes on. We have never minded menu repeats. We order favorites again or try something different. Entertainment repeats can get a little boring but there are always game shows and live music to change things up. As others have said, on port intensive itineraries, it gives us an excuse to go to bed a little earlier to get ready to do it all again the next day.

Exactly this. CCL is not a high tech startup. Talking EBITDA smacks of desperation, particularly when “I” is as massive as theirs is.

He’s been on the ship for over a week already. -

Valid thought, but he is at a table for two by a window. We’ll see what happens when he shows up there tonight. But, even so, why an email? If he didn’t have WiFi on board, he’d never see it. -
As so often on this forum, that speaks more to the responder than the originator who actually provided valuable information. (But, darn it, I missed seeing who it was this time). As since you are the originator, I thank you for it.

It’s good enough for one time but maybe not good enough to want to go through it again.

I just received an email notifying us that DH’s dinner reservation for tonight (only, apparently) has been changed. Note: he is already on the ship and has been dining in that dining room at that time since he boarded. Not sure what to make of this, but in his over 7 months of Princess cruising since DMW began, this is a first. Has anyone else received an email like this?

I don’t think so. There are plenty of loungers on the ship. The issue is location. The locations that are perceived to be more valuable are the ones where we see chair hogging. I can show you areas on the Grand Class ships that are back by the smokestacks where there is a lot of fan and machinery noise that always have loungers available. Unusually, one side of the ship is in the sun ans the other in the shade. Plug in noise cancelling earbuds and they’re perfect.

Dine-My-Way Will Make You Crazy!!!
PescadoAmarillo replied to mike&elena's topic in Princess Cruises
I’m a long time Princess cruiser and I am shocked at their corporate ambivalence in getting this fixed. Apparently, once they have our cruise fare, the fact that guests are waiting in long lines for dinner at times and tables we might not want is of little concern. -
This was the menu tonight (formal night) on both the Ruby and the Emerald. I can’t believe there isn’t a salad offering.
