  1. If I were her, I'd bring my negative test.
  2. My personal theory is that Royal has a computer program estimating how cabins will cancel at the last minute. Then they allow people to book the real number of cabins plus that estimate. The estimate would be based on historical data. That would generally work fairly well. But, they haven't accounted for the world being a different place than a year ago or two years ago. A year or two ago there were a lot of people cancelling at the last minute. There was the people that cancelled because they or someone in the family was sick, and also the people that booked with the thought that vaccines and masks wouldn't be required by the cruise date.
  3. Awesome. That is the only option that looked interesting. When I was shopping, Allure was more expensive than Voyager so even for the same length of trip those offers were a downgrade.
  4. I looked back at my Cruise Decision excel sheet. A 7-night Harmony cruise had been a contender. It was $2691 for 4 'adults' in 2 rooms. So, $1346 per couple or $673 pp. This was for Interior GTY 2-person cabins. Even in non-time-converted dollars, the 2024 Harmony cruise is cheaper.
  5. That is rough. As a sun-phobic redhead, that would have totally ruined the remainder of my cruise. You would have thought that they'd give them back after the water activity. I use hats, rash guards AND sunscreen. I've gotten a sunburn in the dead center of a 60' pavilion.
  6. Thank you for doing the currency conversion for me. : ) And that is the per person price, right? I'd been extremely upset with the miserable experience of my daughter's first flight. She was the same age and it was a similar flight on a similar airline. Totally different experience. Flights had slowly gotten more miserable and I hadn't noticed. Then someone pointed out to me that flights had also gotten a lot cheaper. My first flight was a big deal and my parents remembered the price. We could have gotten first class on American for the price of the cheapest seat on Braniff in '78. Those cruise prices explain the proliferation of "My parents went on a cruise and all they got me was this t-shirt."
  7. I really really hope they have this straightened out before our Feb cruise. I don't want to get food poisoning by eating food that's been sitting around long enough to get too low of a temperature.
  8. Good question. I'm with you in that I'm not a fan of a lot of salt.
  9. Thinking about this, the MDR tables are probably pretty good for board games. Not too big. We have early dining. Eventually they'll need the table for late dining. I can see the dining room manager coming over and asking why we are playing a game and not eating. If we are polite about sending the food back, we probably won't be eating spit.
  10. Note to self, bring a board game or books for everyone to the MDR. 🙂
  11. One thing I noticed on the recent review from those two guys we've been discussing. They said that the Shrimp Cocktail on the British night was the British way. Right before they said that I'd thought, "What is that, it isn't Shrimp Cocktail" I expected the American way of Martini glass with cocktail sauce and shrimp hanging on the rim.
  12. I'd missed that one. I was thinking of another one where it was a complete bump. I remember the nanny had an inside cabin, and the wife had very limited dates that she could travel. I think they got moved to the cruise the following week or very close in time.
  13. I've only been her since the fall and I read of one. That example reservation had another cabin of a different type that Royal got pissy about changing to the new cruise. You'd think they would look at how many cabins were booked on a reservation and what type before bumping people. We are four cabins of the same type. Both families could easily change to a different cruise date, but it would have to be all or none on another cruise. Our sail isn't until Feb, just thinking ahead.
  14. I suspect that Royal doesn't really care. What percentage of people catch that there is an extra drink on their bill? If it was a large percentage then Royal would have come down hard on bartenders that weren't checking. By not checking they can serve more quickly and therefore more. They also have all those video cameras with facial recognition. They could charge those that used someone else's number.
  15. Normally I do all the planning and deciding for vacations. But daughter has been participating lately. Sigh, she is growing up. 12 now. I have the link to look at the shore excursions for our same cruise only leaving in a few days. She liked the idea of seeing a Mayan ruin. But, not if it meant missing her first love, Segways. She adores those things. So, looks like we will do the Segway tour and when we back we'll pop over to the Aviary.
  16. Unfortunately, he'll have it better as a Federal crime, even if he spends actual time locked up. Federal life is pretty cushy. I used to have this friend and when I knew knew him he was a straight-arrow tea-totaler. Before that he'd been caught as a coyote and spent federal time. He said there were several experienced car thieves that would cross the state border with stolen cars and buy gas keeping the receipt. Then if they were caught the crime was 'upgraded' to Federal and they'd take a little vacation.
  17. That is what I thought. If it was cans, particularly on ships that don't have freestyle, I'd happily get the soda package for everyone. The selection on guns is slim.
  18. I know it isn't offered on mine. I also looked for it on the same cruise as mine only leaving in 5 days, and it isn't there. I'd misread the internet "Surf and Stream" package as "Soda and Stream" and bought it. But then cancelled when I realized my mistake.
  19. Are you allowed cans with the soda package? I thought it was gun only.
  20. This is totally awesome! I am trying to figure out what official shore excursions are offered in a port where we don't arrive until 11 am. They keep adding stuff to my cruise. With this I now I have what is likely a complete list.
  21. I really don't see this guy spending any serious time in jail. Look at the registered perverts in your neighborhood, and how much time they actually spend behind bars. There are a few outliers, but when I do it is about 1 month for each year of the victim's age. I live in "Hang 'Em High" Texas.
  22. I went looking for what the latest is on looking for hidden cameras. This is pretty interesting. https://alfred.camera/blog/how-to-detect-hidden-cameras/ ETA: I wonder what the range is on the call phone apps? I just now downloaded one of the free ones, and even with my phone just held in front of me it found "2 suspicious devices" and then wanted me to pay money to get more info. The two devices are my webcam and my laptop, so that is a good test. If the app found cameras in the hallway, that would be annoying.
