  1. Well, there is bacteria and then there is bacteria. I am not going to get hot tub rash from my toothbrush
  2. Then you add in that bedspreads are washed rarely, if at all. So, not just the bed, but the actual uncleaned surface where people have .... This is why I banish bedspreads to the corner of hotel rooms, and plan on banishing them from the room entirely on the cruise. Also, the main reason I bring my comforter when travelling f possible.
  3. Well, it would depend on how bad the problem was. Honest mistakes, I'd naturally go direct to the person. Room basically not touched, with sheets obviously unchanged, that isn't an honest mistake. They do have to turnover the rooms quickly, so it makes sense that other people would do rooms. I could go with the attendant with the idea that "someone" had skipped my room during room clean.
  4. My daughter loved that I wore ears too. She is 12, so starting to worry about not being too childish sometimes. But, if mommy proudly does it too, then it isn't childish. I'd made her Baby Yoda ears that got lots of positive attention. I just had ordinary puffy fabric circles.
  5. Somewhere I have a coffee table book on "Italian Cooking." Many of the recipes just start with "red sauce", which of course everyone just has in their fridge.
  6. Hmmm, so maybe less people are cancelling now? There were probably a ton of people that booked refundable cruises a long time in the future thinking that the mask/vaccine stuff would be gone by then, but then cancelled when it hadn't. If they didn't have a person tweaking the estimates when the covid rule changed, that could account to the overselling problem.
  7. Can you imagine a chair hogs reaction to arrive and find someone in THEIR chair, reading THEIR book?
  8. I wonder if the problem is trying to do both? There has to be empty seats from Traditional dining when people eat elsewhere. If the table has people on it, they couldn't add MTD people. But, if it was all MTD, then they could fill the tables as people arrived and mostly fill them.
  9. It was created by a chef in Italy to tempt his pregnant wife to eat.
  10. So, if your room is disgusting on check-in, who do you contact first? The attendant would be the obvious first step, but that would be the person that didn't care enough to do it right the first time.
  11. So, since you won't know if they'll select your offer to be bumped until some point in the future, I guess they gather the survey answers and then accept people willing to go Option#1 first, then look at Option #2, then once all those are bumped then they do Option #3. That makes business sense. Many time on a flight, I'd be willing to be bumped but only if the offer was the min. of XYZ. I have a suspicion that my cruise in Feb will be oversold. An interesting port was dropped from a couple of cruises on my ship near my dates. The price of mine increased in price much more than similar cruises. Like the OP, we are going with friends.
  12. It actually says the reverse. The 6 month rule is for Americans when the cruise's homeport isn't in the US. RCCL says: Accepted Identification for U.S. Citizens U.S. Passport book that is valid at least 6 months after your cruise ends. A U.S. Passport book is required for sailings that depart from homeports outside of the U.S.
  13. I guess it is only a big problem if they cancel someone's reservation that doesn't want it cancelled. But, I seem to remember a thread of them doing just that a few months ago.
  14. There is no excuse for overselling a cruise. With planes, if you don't show up they let you on the next plan if there is room. So, airlines have an excuse to oversell, since they don't get money for that empty seat. But on a cruise, they have all your money long before the cruise and are going to keep it even if you don't show up. So, I think that is a genuine question, how do they keep overselling their ships? There might be something I am missing.
  15. That probably explains why while I really like Indian food, none of the offerings on the new menu were things I order.
  16. I agree mouse ears while inside Disney is just getting into the spirit of things. Plus they make cute headbands.
  17. Now I'm wondering if the 10-pack I just bought from the previous link will be enough. DH has a CPAP and we'll be on Voyager, so I assume we'll want to use the extension cord on the ceiling thing. Then DD is that age that NEEDS privacy and she will be sharing a room with a friend, so I thought we'd hang a sheet curtain between their beds.
  18. Price is shocking. I'd been thinking of getting the refreshment package for myself and/or daughter. $34/day or $170/trip. But, I can't blame Royal if people pay the money. I even understand people buying it just because "I'm on vacation." But, it isn't for me. The price for the alcohol package is more than the bottom line price for our cruise.
  19. I was looking into hidden cameras for a friend of a friend in an abusive relationship. There is a pen one for less than $30 on Amazon. So, price in the toy-gadget range. If I went through Miami, I'd totally get one of these.
  20. Thank you guys! I'm not the OP but I was going to come here to ask which ones are best. I now some magnets don't stick to the fridge when I put anything more than a post-it note on it. Any clips that you can recommend? For things like paperwork.
  21. If you are a non-chair hog and walking around looking for a chair, aren't those basically a sign saying, "These chairs are free. Just toss the stuff onto an adjacent chair and it is yours."
  22. Thank you! We have two sea days. I'll make sure to get us in line early for that.
  23. This might help for the future. Tell your kids that sheep are so dumb, the babies can die of fright. Some friends of ours have a sheep herd. When they got their first lambs they weren't planning on eating them because they wanted more sheep. The mom was washing dishes and looking outside. She saw two lambs just keel over dead because a car back-fired. Which explains why eating lambs is a thing. Normally farmers want an animal to at least be fully grown.
  24. I used that once, and I thought it was more thorough in a genuine not theater way. The guy studied the x-ray image for a reasonably long length of time. I guess the thought of a bomb going off 20 feet away might be motivating.
