Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Don't forget that Taylor Swift is going to be in Amsterdam with three shows - Thursday through Saturday. I'm that is also contributing to the higher prices you're seeing. We've booked at the IBIS, but we'll also be there for five nights as we're coming early to do some sightseeing.
  2. 2 1/2 to 3 hours is about what we spent as well a couple years ago. The museum is very well designed and has a lot to offer - we also spent time reading everything. The museum is well worth the visit.
  3. We're there on July 9, 2024, and our date was also greyed out. We're also the only ship in port, with about 2100 passengers. Our plan was to take the HOHO, but since I couldn't reserve tickets, we decided instead to take a ranger-led guided hike along the falls from the Fjord Center.
  4. I used the search and didn't see my particular question (or one like it). We're already planning on prepaying the tips before we board, but I want to also be able to tip extra to crew members. My question would be the currency. We're on Royal Caribbean Jewel of the Seas in July 2024. Embarkation/Debarkation is in Amsterdam. The cruise itself is to the arctic circle and the fjords of Norway. What currency would be most welcomed by the ship crew? USD, Euro, or Norwegian Krone? Thanks,
  5. Our plan for the next cruise (12 night) is primarily use the MDR. We did upgrade to specialty dining twice, both for lunch - once at Chops, the other at Giovanni's.
  6. For my cruises, I've always used a TA as well - often times a TA can get a deal within a block of rooms and be able to give you some onboard credit. For my cruise this July, my TA was able to get me a much better rate than I could have myself.
  7. On one of my previous cruises (7 years ago on a different line), we were able to request a bowl of fruit from our cabin steward. Can this be requested from Royal Caribbean? Thanks,
  8. This is what we did, though in Minnesota. My wife and I were going to Europe in June (2022) so we applied in January and received our conditional approval within days. The first available appointment locally was after we got back. So we took a trip to Grand Portage (near the Canadian border - about 5 hours away) and timed it with a work holiday and made a vacation of it.
  9. I'm also on the July 5, 2024 Arctic circle cruise on Jewel. Seeing your comments and pictures has made me excited - I can wait, but it's going to be tough. I had read about the ban on cruise ships entering the Unesco fjords - that's why I'm doing this one in 2024. Hawaii (my last state) can wait.
  10. We spent a couple days in Belfast June 2022. If I had to pick between what you've listed, I'd pick the Causeway tour. And my wife would tell you the same.
  11. That's way more than my wife and I paid June 2022 (about 60 pounds). And our driver shared information from both sides equally.
  12. I'm not sailing until July 2024 (over a year from now), so I'm hoping many of these issues I keep hearing about are resolved - especially since I'm on a 13 night cruise.
  13. I would also recommend Princess. I cruised Alaska 7 years ago and both my wife and I would go again. We did a seven day northbound: Vancouver - Ketchikan - Juneau - Skagway - Glacier Bay (cruising) - Whittier/Anchorage. We arrived a couple days early and spent a day in Victoria on Vancouver Island - Butchart Gardens was inspiring.
  14. I'm cruising in July 2024; I started the roll call here and joined one on Facebook.
