  1. We have flown back from both Miami & FLL - we honestly let price determine unless we know we'll be picking up a lot of stuff during the cruise, then we do FLL so we can use Luggage Direct. We haven't had memorable issues or delays at FLL, but pre-security there are a LOT of "housing challenged" people, if that's a concern for your family. Not had any real incidents, but they are there and things do happen - I don't recall this at Miami airport. We have TSA Pre-check which greatly helps reduce security wait times. And we are at a different terminal as we fly AA, so your experience in the SWA area may be different.
  2. @runnerinn thanks for sharing your wonderful multi generation cruise and virtually "adopting" us all through this review. We love Turks - the beautiful beaches are so calming and the natives are cute.
  3. Never too young or old for the "window seat." Our very first cruise early 90's was on the Holiday - we sat in our cabin window and had amazing views of the dolphins. We say it was our free dolphin excursion.
  4. We prefer the lower decks because of the proximity to the water and wildlife. Our preference is 4 or 5 depending on the ship. Sometimes the price difference pushes us up, but if we can get CO, we're usually able to get what we want. Deck 4 is probably higher priced because the cabins are "longer" so more room (look at 4174, 76, 79, 81) and more convenient to MDR. On Westerdam, deck 5 has the really deep balconies, so that's our choice for that ship. With all that said, I don't think any are bad - they're aft and it's AK!
  5. @cruisinsince75 are you asking about Luggage Direct from FLL to your home airport or Luggage Forward to your house? We use Luggage Direct from FLL to DFW every time our cruise ends there. Last time was Dec 2023 Nieuw Statendam (last month) on an FCO->FLL TA, flying American Airlines FLL to DFW. The process works flawlessly - we get the special luggage tags in our disembarkation packet, put bags in hallway by midnight like everyone else and don't touch them again until we grab them from the (extremely slow) baggage claim at DFW. I have not used Luggage Forward, so cannot comment on it.
  6. I feel ya - ask me how I know the process and timing for having them adjusted. Seriously though, your wife does need to wait for them to hit the statement, which is usually around day 3, then go to Guest Services. It's a very quick process, so just have her pick a time when the lines are short and she'll accomplish her goal w/o the kick-in-the-teeth last day mob. Also FWIW, never had attitude from GS doing an adjustment. Oh, she will need your card or you'll need to go w/her as each person has to do their own. Safe travels - enjoy your cruise!
  7. Those pictures are from Eurodam May 2023. It's unfortunate yours was sub par; I do think consistency would result in better passenger experience, so long as it's consistently good 😉
  8. Respectfully @Kelownabccan didn't say "remove" grats, they said "adjust" grats. Adjusting can be up or down.
  9. @rafinmd This version of the maps is easier for me to read, but know I will like them no matter the published version. I appreciate the time you are investing in them.
  10. Condolences on losing your friend; extra hug and prayer coming your way. The picture is beautiful.
  11. No idea of the brand, but DH had bacon bits both times in his chowder and had noticeable amounts of clams & potatoes. Here's what was left of the boil pot when he had finished it. And here's the crumble dessert I failed to post earlier.
  12. We may be related. 🤣 My father said me being born in Maine was a waste of genes as I do NOT eat seafood - how could a person born in Maine w/a Massachusetts father father not at least like lobster?🤷‍♂️ Baffled him 🙄
  13. It was heaven!! That and the fried cheese were the top 2 best items on the menu. FYI, the fried cheese is not the typical round "cigar" cheese sticks - it's a rectangular chunk.
  14. @XBGuy both times DH had the seafood boil it was served in the Lido (which is where my meal came from since I don't eat seafood) so I thi k you'd be able to either ask for a salad or get one to have with it. Last time, the servers who brought his food asked me what I wanted from the buffet and brought it to me after they delivered his food.
  15. We ordered an extra appetizer, 1 extra for the 2 of us, not 1 extra each. The Tiramisu is absolutely not the same as MDR. It looks just like the picture at the entrance and way too pretty to eat.
  16. My experience is similar to @sparks1093 - grats post on day 2 or 3; that is when you go to Guest Services, so you're not waiting until the last day.
  17. It's $35 for the one meal (chowder, pot, dessert). I don't know if they allow sharing; I don’t eat seafood, so no reason for us to ask.
  18. DH had corn both times he had the boil; it was on the cob, very small piece.
  19. Once you get logged in, you are correct that you will be able to get your boarding passes. And you both will not have to log in - there will be a little circle at the bottom of the boarding pass for each person on the booking - just scroll to see each one.
  20. As the others said, you would both use your individual log ins and it will be the same as the online log in. You will each see the booking. Logging in with your own credentials allows you each to see your own Mariner profile. If one of you logs in with the other persons credentials, that's whose profile they will see. If you can't log in after reinstalling the app, you should call HAL for help.
  21. Here's the flyer. I think it did have lobster, but don't make me swear to that as I didn't eat it.
  22. No discount the couple times DH had it. I've seen really mixed reviews w/some saying it is not a true seafood boil. But DH has enjoyed it - so much that he did it on a couple cruises. It was a lot of food.
  23. Ok, sorry - I sure want to give credit where due. And appreciate the menu and picture. The dessert looked really good 😊
  24. Gorilla Suit Day? Do I get the day off since I don't have one? Pass on the meal, maybe the drink and wine when I know what they are, not been to the port. Dr appt this morning hoping to get something to help w/sinuses - Claritin not doing a thing. Then PT and work. Currently 43° headed to 75° with rain this weekend. Prayers and positive thoughts for all.
