  1. Those pictures were taken on the K'dam Jan 2, 2024.
  2. We've never encountered soot on an aft balcony. As DH says, we've been up high and down low and any noise has been drowned out by the "waterfall" sound of the wake. For Alaska we would 1000% take an aft balcony everytime. But you will be the absolute furthest from the Crow's Nest.
  3. Yes there were shuttles being provided when were were there in Nov. Waiting areas are covered w/seats. I think they were $19pp.
  4. I say you're lucky and fortunate you've not encountered a non-service dog on a cruise. Just because you haven't, does not mean it's not happening. This thread is an indication this is not a unique one time incident - it's a real issue. A simple search here on CC will result in multiple threads of multiple incidents. The holiday K'dam cruise as well as the one after are 2 recent examples. Unfortunate reality of cruising today. Just simply not service animals.
  5. And here is where the problems begin - people are not being honest. People bring pets onboard which IMO is disrespectful of true service animals and the humans they assist. They should make arrangements to have their animals cared for off-ship - that's what I do, as much as I may want 1 or 2 of my dogs to cruise with me. I would NEVER consider representing my pet as a service animal.
  6. @Wehwalt it's difficult not to say something to a human whose dog runs into your cabin; it's equally difficult to not say anything to a human whose dog poops in an elevator. It can (and has) be done, but passengers on a cruise ship shouldn't even have to consider being in that position.
  7. Multiple videos and time stamped pictures have generally not impacted the number of imposters on HAL ships, not on the K'dam, anyway.
  8. Safe travels- enjoy your cruise!
  9. @CruiserBruce do go to the Mariner Lunch if you're able. As @Mary229 said, ours was lovely w/an excellent menu, many officers in attendance, several officers dining at passenger tables and a lovely toast from the Captain.
  10. Great picture! Our land cruise was also May 2022; we ended in Anchorage.
  11. Yes land days as part of a package count, any you do on your own do not.
  12. Well I guess @POA1 @Huskerchick have another Rotterdam cruise in their future - in the name of research, of course.🤭
  13. We visited Denali 🏔️May 2022; of course, it was beautiful! We hiked some, there was quite a bit of snow and patches of ice that prevented us from going too far, but it was a bucket list item for DH and did not disappoint. We had a beautiful blue sky day, so it was lovely. No pictures as they're on my computer - I look forward to seeing what fellow Dailyites post. It was 61° headed to stormy 70° when I checked 2 hours ago. Lovely picture @ger_77 you look so happy. HR has scheduled a call w/me this morning and boss has an OOO posted 🤷‍♀️ let's see who shows. Don't know what dinner will be, but whatever it is will be a joy to prep and clean up - the new faucet is wonderful!! Can't put anything away under the sink yet as the plumber didn't use a towel or bucket so all the water from the old one poured out and the base is still wet. Ugh. But I'm thrilled w/the faucet. Prayers 🙏 and positive thoughts for all.
  14. Hugs @Nickelpenny as you work on Martina's picture box frame.🤗 It's nice another cat will enjoy her feeder.
  15. THIS is why aft cabins are the best!! Thanks for sharing your beautiful views.
  16. I hope you have a wonderful cruise!!
  17. It's not an issue. I've used their transfer several times when we've come in early.
  18. Very nice! None of mine had any colors but it was still great to witness.
  19. Neptune and Pinnacle suites only have in room coffee makers. You can order from room service any time day or night. If you want "fancy" coffee, you can go to Explorations Cafe or GDC, depending on your ship.
  20. That's a nice picture, though; better than any I was able to get. My friend's sister took this in her backyard w/her camera and a telescope.
  21. The lounge is another place to "chill" and hang out, their cabin cards will open the door. There are drinks & snacks they can enjoy there or take out (to their cabin or elsewhere). A huge benefit of the lounge is the Concierge service - they can help w/everything from arranging dining & excursion bookings to maintenance requests, fresh flowers to just about anything parents may think of, they do a great job. Oh, I almost forgot one of the best perks for parents will be breakfast in Pinnacle Grill, you won't be able to join them, but they really should try to go at least once. There's no additional charge and it's a nice treat for suite guests only
  22. Well said - thank you for saying it. As a cruise ship passenger recently subjected to the abuse of non-service dogs and their owners, I am unfortunately very familiar w/the flagrant disregard of HALs service animal policy. It's heartbreaking. Service animals absolutely should always be allowed on board - impostors never!
