  1. Like @DaisyUK well said : the extra weight will go away & we'll be ready for the next! glad you are having a great time ❀️
  2. I'm more or less in the same boat, a lot more restricted as I use crutches at home, some days one, some days two, but need a wheelchair when we are out.I can walk to a table a reasonable distance if I don't want to get in a dining room with the wheelchair,I am able to do a few steps, this in a very generalised description. I was truly grateful after @Victoria2 gave me the link to the questionnaire a few weeks ago when talking about this kind of impairment and Cunard's policy in some shore excursions which we had already paid and on the phone the Cunard's lady said they may not let us in unless the shore tour was specifically for access people (can't remember the title they have), I realized the need to fill it in. I would urge you to fill it in, regardless of what your TA says. In the questionnaire at the moment, it states clearly that for tender, one needs to be able to do (here they tell us the distance in numbers, can't remember right now) un-aided or you would be denied access, obviously resulting in impossibility to get to shore. This among other things which I fill a LOT better after having filled it in. I have to admit, we will only finish it tomorrow as I need help from my daughter who has been busy at work, but we are most definitely finishing it tomorrow, it says you NEED to have this complete up to 14 days before your trip. It takes 5 minutes or so, it wont harm, I say you guys do fill it in, my grandma always taught us that prevention is better than cure πŸ™‚ Just in case you don't get the emails, (but I reckon you may get it) here is the page. in here you have a clickable link for both the questionnaire and the accessibility guide, https://www.cunard.com/en-gb/email-campaigns/accessibility-questionnaire and this is the On Board Needs questionable specifically https://www.cunard.com/content/dam/cunard/marketing-assets/pdf/accessibility-pdfs/Accessibility_Medical_Questionnaire_July23_TC.pdf you will need to sign in with your trip ref number.
  3. mmm not sure why then? maybe to make it weight more on people's attention? In our ones, the sender ID is on capitals - NO-REPLY@CUNARD.COM which most definitely calls more attention than regular ones I get....
  4. we also got a duplicate email, I assume is because we are two passengers?
  5. @Victoria2 sorry about the eczema thing, great to know you were able to get meds, even if not the same as yours, hope you carry on enjoying πŸ™‚
  6. it makes sense. I only knew about the questionnaire thanks to threads here and I am so very grateful I got to it, I don't think is anything you need to be alarmed, I honestly rather get tons of emails with info from them than not, my mobility is restricted and I understand how this is a positive move, probably, like it was said above, something happened to prompt them to alert people to it, they are making sure those who need help will have it....
  7. I started last week...and am boarding a week after you!!! but you are spot on on the word...temptation it is! Weather here has been a disaster, crazy with 4 seasons in one day... we had visitors, then I got very unwell with my hands (have some nerve conductivity issues in my elbows apart from carpal tunnel, surgeons ordered to stay away from the computer as much as possible for at least two weeks so my daughter has been scrolling and reading for me, getting excited about our QV trip, we keep gathering info from all posts, and starting to think very seriously about doing TA next year πŸ™‚
  8. HI πŸ™‚ Haven't read all of the replies, so apologies if this has been said, but I thought I give you my opinion ... We are not completely new to cruising, last was in 2010 and all the cruises before that, my husband was the one who was amazing at managing all our bookings, our daughter was very young and we always had a good time, unfortunately my husband has dementia and does not live with us now, so I my daughter and I booked directly with Cunard, on the phone, a West Med cruise that sails this September. Like someone well said before, the shore tours go from around US$60 (the prices are on United States Dollars), to 200, depending on the experience, some include wine tasting, others a full lunch experience, all depends where and what you are doing, In our itinerary, the most expensive I saw was a $250, but our itinerary is a bit different to yours. The one thing that made us book with Cunard, even though they are a bit (in some cases a lot) more expensive than if we went out on our own or took a non Cunard tour, is that if anything at all happens with the NON Cunard tour, traffic that delays yours bus return, anything at all that can delay your return to the ship, they won't wait for you. If anything at all happens, but you are on a bus that is a Cunard shore tour, you are 100% sure you will be back on your cabin and carry on with your fabulous cruising experience. With us, there is also the fact that I am mobility impaired and need a wheelchair for long distances, this makes us even more weary to do anything that wont guarantee our return to the ship. Hope you have a great time!
  9. thanks for the link @Windsurfboy I wouldn't consider that type of holiday, we go for (someone said it better than I ever could above in the thread) local history, getting around, local food and activities.... but not just good information, thank you for the link to the site, I didn't know it existed, interesting, run by a Brit woman πŸ™‚
  10. @D&N have you ever been to Iguazu Falls? both sides are amazing, if you enter through Puerto Iguazu in the Argentinian side, or in Foz do Iguazu in Brazil . Both sides have amazing hotels, gorgeous complex up and dow the hills, with ramps or steps, some of them make you feel like you are walking inside a forest, and depending on the time of the year, you rarely will have too many people at any of the many points for viewing, I will try find my EHD with the photos we took of the 1980s trips with my husband to show you, that is a truly spectacular view. πŸ™‚
  11. @Victoria2 thanks, ❀️ you know we love you in this household!
  12. I'm curious about this too... But I think I get the feeling.... My dream was Venice in the Orient Express. Until I watched a documentary made with the Venetians explaining how Venice isn't Venice anymore, it was heart breaking.... Now we probably will look into a cruise that combines with the Orient Express, saw it actually advertised in a Cruise Critic email , but we think next would be QM2 crossing, need to think it through as we also have a LOT of family and friends in the USA who are offend if you don;'t go to see them..... that's why I asked of it was possible to stay in the ship ... I love our family, I do.. I swear, but they are sooo many! LOL
  13. haven't read all the posts, (I have some neurological issues that scramble my reading after long paragraphs and it is 04:18 am , haven't slept for 3 days so it makes it worse) probably many of you have said here before ( I saw someone said looks like Butlins?) This is no "new" thing, just an old thing using a new marketing- publicity trick.... Holidays like that exist in every resort 5 stars(or maybe less too!) or private high class membership clubs in every country I traveled too. I love the cruising because is on sea, on a ship, even a river cruise is a marvellous experience not comparable to being on land. I doubt very much they will take away from people who love cruising. I love land holidays, we are all avid travellers in our family (my husband's too, our daughter inherited the bug) but would run away from that kind of resort.... when we go on land holidays we want to see the city in depth (something you wont do in a cruise tour), the culture of the place, that takes more than a day. We stayed in a 5 stars resort in Turkey in 2011 for Easter, was absolutely stunning. They had all the different kind of dining restaurants you could choose, shows in the evenings , activities of all kinds all day.. we only loved the rooms we were allocated, the pools and the beach, the marvellous food that was Turkish ,also dined one night at a Mexican which wasn't all that, so we kept finding different Turkish options, everything was great, but we spent most of our time doing tours outside the resort...we even went diving in the Med.... In the past 15 years we have been to Belgium a couple of times , France a few times (plus took. my daughter to Disney Paris when she was 10), Spain many, many times (first week of June just gone we were in Seville) and some African cities, we usually run away from that kind of land resorts ...... Our family owns private membership resorts in Argentina, Brazil and in Punta del Este in Uruguay , most of them have all the offerings, fabulous indeed if you like staying in land in one resort... it is a very, very different type of people to the ones who love being on a ship... I think is just a desperate marketing trick... About people complaining about cruises.... People complain, is a human trait. Some people have a perception of a trip that can be completely different to another who went on exactly the same trip.... but people complaining at the moment also has to do with us coming out of a world wide pandemic that almost broke society..... we are having a climate craze, there are strikes of health care, air traffic controllers and ...well, I am quiet sure you are all aware of the way the world is at the moment. I am just looking forward to our upcoming cruise and wouldn't change that for ANY holiday, even if they gave me a choice of a free land holiday, will still choose to pay for my Queen Vic cruise in ... 6 weeks YaY!!!!! I
  14. we booked direct with Cunard on the phone, when they ask us if e wanted early or late seating or open dining, we went for open because the times (all!) sounded early for us.... but the more I hear/read, the more I'm thinking maybe we will be better on late seating.....
  15. @Ray66 thank you!!!!!!!!! yes, we will be fine!!! @Victoria2 I am right now drowning in plastic hangers from all the clothes my daughter bought in the past year and never got rid of... putting them on Freecycle maybe someone can make good use of them..... love the Cunard ones!!! no danger with us as probably not even a pin would ft in our suitcases after the sailing.... LOL @alibabacruisers that is us too.... so much stuff... the boy next door is helping me with boxes and moving the suitcases ...he thought we were going to be away for a month LOL
  16. Thanks so much @addo ,we have a few transparent plastic covers from dry cleaning service , good idea πŸ™‚
  17. Making a note x the Gin & Fizz visit! another place to explore!!!! by now we have completely abandoned the idea of no alcohol, and re thinking if we get the net plan or do it by day once on board.... Thanks Hattie, if anyone is interested, the article is HERE
  18. Is there anyone around who has traveled in Britannia Balcony? I saw in some YouTube videos that there is relatively good space in the wardrobes, not sure about hangers though.... anyone has an idea more or less how many hangers are there? We are flying a few days before embarkation day, all our evening clothes will need them. Still a few weeks until we sail, but we already started choosing what to take to avoid last minute finding that one is over the 23k allowed.... Should we take hangers? I think we will need at least 6 hangers each of us... thanks in advance!
  19. ok, not sure if the pina chocolate is something available in Commodore, or if it comes in that container, we just found this article and looking closer, it could be any other drink... is this one the article is in verge magazine, photos of some of Cunard's cocktails" it is an interview with (in their own words) "Cunard’s resident mixologist extraordinaire, and first female President of the UK Bartenders Guild, Claudia Carrozzi, shares why we are in the golden era for cocktail drinkers." I suppose it would be ok to link, but will wait for @Host Hattie s confirmation. πŸ™‚
  20. my daughter is very excited about a drink "Pina Chocolada" not just the drink but the container it comes in....it was in one of our emails, I have to admit I am curious about that one too.... I m not generally up for chocolate in alcohol, apart from some Brazilian shots .... but this one we will be trying for sure πŸ™‚
  21. that would be my policy in many things (in life) but in this case, not sure if it is prudent... the Mareel treatments are all available to book now for our cruise which is in 9 weeks.... what happens if I leave it to book on board and there are no spots on the day I wanted? I have been thinking it through...haven't booked anything but am probably will be doing so soon... I guess it depends on the individual and how important it is that you have the spot....
  22. Is this only for crossings? or QM2? when we booked our Med o0n QV a couple of months ago, they said we needed to get insurance that I can't remember but a minimum £££ covered. When we asked if they did the insurance, they told us no and to go to (really bad memory and the booking is on my daughter's email) the company the recommend. We did, found it to be very good cover and very good price....
  23. To me, there is one detail that made us not want to upgrade, There is this thing about where in the ship you will end up. We chose our cabin on booking. If you are offered the upgrade and then you dislike the cabin they give you in Club Category, you. can't refuse, they may send you to the category you had before but you may not be able to get the one you had initially.... My daughter (she is 27) her line of thought is the one @Pushpit points to, we can pay for another cruise with the money needed for the upgrade....
  24. @roscoe39 thanks , yes, most definitely!!! Rio does it too, only if it was Salvador, it would be all coherent, ending up in Buenos Aires to then come back to London. Haven't called them yet as my daughter is trying to work out what dates would be possible, want to have a clear idea of what we can do so we can book straight away πŸ™‚ We will be on QV in September, the idea was to book next sailing on board, but seeing how the cabin categories we want go faster, think we will do it asap πŸ™‚ we thought next would be Japan, but after hanging around here for a while, now we are both tempted to go for a crossing πŸ™‚
