  1. thanks, we found a couple of transparent tags that may fit them if they end up not being longer than 7 inches 🙂
  2. @Chart Room Princess We are cruising with Cunard for the first time in September. Had decided to do alcohol free, but when I discovered the Commodore Cocktail list, how they are made after the Captains and their history, we rapidly forgot about that idea. Because of the history, I chose as the first one we will have same as your first choice, Punch Romaine a la Carpathia I like all the ingredients separately, will need to see how they feel all combined.... My daughter chose our second choice, the Chieftain of the Clan. others that appeal to us are the Commodore Cure, All Consuming Passion and maybe Appliqué.... we may just go through the whole list ....we are working out if she will want to get the drinks package or we will take it easy and just drink in the evenings after port days and pay as we go 🙂
  3. can anyone tell us what the size of the labels we will print are?
  4. @Solent Richard we had a couple Samsonite, excellent quality indeed, lasted many of our South American trips (3 countries, almost 6 months escaping the English winter) the last one we have is on it's last legs after this past trip, you are inspiring me with the red, may have to get one of those!!!! gorgeous!!!!
  5. oh I can relate... I am an avid scrapbooker, so always, always there is a photo of 90% of our trips!!! love your cases!!!!!
  6. thanks so much @Victoria2 @rakkor & @Winifred 22 will get some 🙂
  7. Yes, most are even when having actual branches... we have been having a lot of issues with scammers, wont go long into it but we even had problems with Experia.... is there no way to communicate on private messages here? or give people an email address? is that in violation of rules of Cruise Critic? I would most certainly trust an agent that is recommended for booking next cruises as I can see it would take a bit of my worries (and money of my phone bill by the waiting time with Cunard after one booked!) We do perfectly fine in booking land travel, but as our last cruise was years and years ago and it was my husband who took care of everything, I'm feeling a bit frustrated with all the new info I am getting. Well, I should not moan, we still have a couple of months to sort stuff, so I will shut up now 🙂
  8. I would have thought they would look after you a bit better indeed.... yet another thing I had no idea we needed to do..... we are flying a couple of days before boarding, they explained in Cunard they don't have a shuttle bus in Rome because we are not arriving the day of the cruise, not that is difficult to find our own way to the port (or expensive) but still... I better get my daughter to read the whole thing properly to see what we will need.... I'm sure we have somewhere a set of self adhesive labels to print, but those maybe for a printer that would have worked in the early 2000s.... does one need necessarily to stick them? it wont work to put a label in a luggage tag?
  9. My mobility was a lot better than now in our previous cruises, but judging by what people are telling us, I reckon you better mention before the trip, because I reckon the issue would be with the size of your cabin and the fact that you are not allowed to leave stuff outside... and for what I have been reading, this happens in most, if not every ship you travel in....
  10. I'm thinking we may have been better if we did it with an agency, such a shame they don't allow people to recommend, as choosing a travel agent in London is a bit of a lottery at the moment.... thanks once again 🙂
  11. OH, I may not have explained myself properly . We didn't book with an agency, when I said "agent" I meant the Customer Service people who picked up the phone on Cunard's phone number..... We booked with them directly, called and spoke to Cunard's employees..... this was what I was referring, I should have said Cunard's employees. We had a great TA for our trips to South America, but they had a terrible time with Covid so not operating at the moment, but most of our travels in Europe we book ourselves. We spotted Cunard in 2019, were looking into trips and were going to book for 2020, then none of our trips happened. I wasn't ready to travel until end of last year, as we had been looking at Cunard's emails all this time and it seemed to be the one line that ticked all our expectations, called directly to book. That's why I have gotten a bit frustrated with some issues of information that, being the actual Cunard's employees we were talking on the phone, wasn't even mentioned to us. But the universe always makes life flow one way or another....in this case it found me these boards and I'm grateful for all info I am getting 🙂 Thanks once again 🙂 @Victoria2
  12. oh, of course I completely agree one needs to fill the form..... and I am extremely grateful to you and many of the people here for info that I can see is vital, my frustration is more with the Customer Services on Cunard's phone, every person we spoke to has been great, super friendly, patient, understanding and I thought I was getting first class information.... we have been discovering that a LOT off what we needed to know wasn't told to us. so, thank you once again, will fill it in 🙂
  13. Thanks @Victoria2 Where would I find that form? or the Terms & Conditions? When we booked, we explained exactly about the wheelchair, my mobility issues. I'm not on it permanently, she gave us some measurements and my daughter got it whilst we were on the phone with them, it was less than half the size she said was the limit. We chose our cabin when we booked. None of the customer service people we spoke to mentioned anything, only that we needed the insurance and the requirements. I also am a bit... maybe frustrated can be the word, about some other lack of information of a couple of issues which, had I not come across these boards, I would have been in the dark. Will get my daughter to find the form and T&C to read. Thanks for the info.
  14. I use one of those transit wheelchairs, small wheels, that my daughter pushes, not full time, but for long distances walks. We booked directly with Cunard, on the phone, so by the info we got : you do not need an accessible room, but they have some measurements for foldable wheelchairs, can't remember exactly what it was, but my daughter said ours is less than half the size, we are on a balcony cabin too so I reckon you will be fine with a foldable one, but just in case, I would call Cunard/ your travel agent to confirm the size they allow in non accessible rooms.... @Victoria2 they didn't mention anything to us about medical questionnaire...do you think I should call and ask for it? We got insurance with the company they recommend, and filled the medical there.....
  15. @Host Hattie my info is that they may not let us on the non accessible ones, even if we can do bits of walking and steps, they said the bus may not allow for wheelchairs and they wouldn't put me in touch with the shore excursions team.... the girl/agent that spoke with us said she would look it up and call us back, this was way over a month ago...still no call, that's why I made a comment about this on a thread here..... @nicjones088 I am on the same boat. I can walk and do a couple or 3 steps, but walking distances is a no no, depending on the day maybe painful or excruciating. I do it on crutches at home, little distances in the house I manage on my own, some days one crutch, others 2, and we have a wheelchair, manual, foldable, very small & light weight, a transit wheelchair which my daughter pushes. On this you have an advantage as an electric always will do better than ours, not sure how used to your partner maybe to cobbled street (which more than likely you will get all over Rome and parts of Malaga at least) WE spent a week in Seville in the beginning of this month and we did just fine, my daughter pushing me, we saw the whole city, slowing down in some parts, but, once again, my wheelchair is a manual transit, so I reckon you guys will do much better. After we paid some shore tours we booked in the Cunard site (think we are on that same cruise of yours, but we are boarding in Rome/Civitavecchia on the 8th) because we saw the specifics and, for example, in the Alghero with cheese tasting, it talks about walk on foot for approx 2 hours.... so we called them. She suggested waiting to see if more accessible tours came in, she said they may add more, I have been monitoring but nothing yet, apart from the ONE accessible that was good for us and we booked, in Vigo, no other accessible tours have turned up. We booked the Alghero and something in Malaga, but the agent insisted that they may not let us in etc etc, she was very determined, so was another agent when my daughter called , see if we got a different point of view, but nope. When I came to ask here, someone said if we paid, and coming the day they refuse to take us, we could ask for a full refund, (but I think this was a down to earth, common sense opinion, not a Cunard employee) we thought about cancelling the non accessible ones and booking non Cunard tours (which we would have to do soon) but I'm apprehensive as, if we are not on time back with a non Cunard tour, we run the risk of being left behind..... so, still have at least a month to see if something else accessible turns up, or we may stay around ports. The trip is dreamy and, even though is our first time with Cunard, I am positive it will be a great experience, have been hanging around here for a while and have read enough threads and reviews which tells us so, would love to be able to do shore yours, even though we generally do land at least 5 days when we are interested win seeing a place properly, so no biggie if not, sadly the one tour we were crazy about was already sold out when we booked, so I keep looking at the site and seeing if something new turns up, I'm just praying we can make it to the non accessible we booked, it would be shame if they didn't let us on the bus.... ,
  16. mmmm doesn't make sense that they get people with mobility problems to disembark first.,... When flying, we are first to board, but on arrival to destination, we always wait until the whole plane is empty, Our last cruise was over 10 years ago so my experience is ancient but,, among other disappointments about P&O on that route, the embark/disembark was terrible, chaotic is a light word to describe... at least you guys had a queue... Thanks so much all of you who have been sharing the journey, welcome back 🙂
  17. @Victoria2 thanks! will do 🙂 I found some videos of cabins in our floor, (by the stateroom number I imagine a few doors away from us) really liked what I saw... I never imagined one day I will wish the British summer to be over, can't wait!!!!
  18. the thing we got (first [picture I attached) has plugs to plug in Europe, USA, Australia, SouthAmerica and I think something else, you get the pins out by moving those blue thingies....and has USB ports.... We got them because someone said in a thread if we wanted to charge two decides at once we may need it.... can't remember how much it was, but it was really handy when we traveled tp Sevilla in the beginning of the month, we were able to charge stuff and plug in her hair dryer and battery charger for my tens unit, so we already got some use of it... good to know they have lots of USB ports in the cabins!
  19. @Host Hattie ohhh the Broadway Rocks!!!!! is that an exclusive of QM2 or you think we may find them on QV?
  20. @exlondoner oh my.... I guess they need to make people work more so MPs can keep charging ridiculous "expenses" on tax payers money..... and that applies to ALL kinds of political party (just in case anyone takes it as an opinion taking sides) I have seen political figures that started as the most honest, fabulous men you can think of, turning into nepotists, greedy and stealing from the pot..... but lets not get into this kind of discussion, doubt the age change will stop my daughter's jokes!!! I have to add, on a more serious note, she is a marvellous 27 years old, accomplished in studies and a hard worker, and the one who keeps telling me her friends can't believe I am the age I am (I reckon that maybe because I'm petite and love colourful clothing!) and cheers me up when I keep going on about how bad I look these days.... When deciding on the cruise line to book this trip, she was extremely keen on Cunard over others, she had the experience of cruising and land to The Canaries with friends which was the drinking and party full time, says never again, she is of the opinion that if the trip doesn't have any cultural interest at all, she rather choose something else. I think I read here in some thread about the dress code where someone said something about Cunard relaxing the dress code to attract younger people who just want to get drunk and party -and someone else said that was Virgin cruises?- my memory is really bad and I have some neurological issues that make my brain scramble words after reading long paragraphs, or I would go back in search of that thread, but rather concentrate on the good side of things- I can say with complete confidence, knowing most of my daughter's friends, and having a very big family with lots of teens, 20s 30s and 40s, there is a good chunk of the young population that do not fit the drinking and partying type.... I think most of that type would choose something considerably cheaper too .... but that is my view of the world, far from imposing my truth as the universal one 🙂
  21. @Victoria2 Ohhh LOVE Fridge Fairies!!!!!!!!!! ❤️ I reckon the first time we got interested in Cunard was actually the QM2, because of our interest in the Queen Mary (the one that now is docked in California, my husband always complained that she should be here, in the UK)) but the trips that really called our attention are mostly on Queen Victoria 🙂 We will be in West Med for a week from 08th Sept boarding in Rome. is my 65th birthday a bit before that, my daughter jokes I will be officially old (retirement age in the UK (at least for now?) so we will celebrating Cunard style 🙂 Hope to be making other journeys too, I have been told here that you get OBC when booking onboard so we decided to make it an adventure to select next trip on board (subjected to experience but, judging by what I have been seeing here, more than likely will be others) would absolutely LOVE to meet you in person! Wherever you are in the UK, if you are ever in London, give us a shout, there is always a fridge full in our place!!!! ❤️
  22. @Kynance Thanks We read the guidelines that @Victoria2 points out, as soon as we paid the deposit, but we wouldn't be taking any extensions anyway as, travelling for many many years all over Europe, Middle East and South America, the most practical thing is an adapter, unless this is what you mean by extension lead? As you are talking about not being many UK plugs, I reckon you maybe talking about adapters? we have many that fit all South American plugs, one that fits European, what we never had was an adaptor that had USB plugs, which we bought for our upcoming trip on the Queen Victoria after chatting with some of you guys here who are experienced Cunarders. it is a cube that has different plugs which will plug into all types of world sockets, but also have USB ports... this is the adaptor To me, an extension lead would be this (which wont solve the issue as is UK wall extended into many other UK plugs) I think you maybe talking about adapters....?
