Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Just to clarify, your luggage (only) can be transferred to the airport free of charge. We did this, then had Uber pick us up and take us to Pike Market for a couple of hours. We used Bounce storage at a nearby store to hold our carry-on luggage until we were ready to head to the airport. Another Uber took us to the airport. Worked great for us.
  2. Prior to our Alaska cruise last year, I found some things easier to navigate by going to the Princess website and logging into my cruise account. The closer it got to the cruise, it seemed like more was available on the app, but I understand your frustration. This was our first cruise in 25 years, first ever on Princess. Despite the hiccups, we had a great experience on the ship & app worked really well. I’m ready to go again!
  3. Perhaps scopolamine patches might help. Ask your doctor and try one out ahead of time.
  4. We do not have any cruises scheduled at present, but I hope some of these service issues are solved soon. I’m afraid it is an issue all across the hospitality and travel industry. We have experienced terrible, even rude customer service with a hotel chain we used to love. I won’t mention the name, but even “elite” club members are not receiving basic club privileges like bottled water at check in. One has to beg for fresh towels. The rooms are either not ready, even if one checks in well past normal check in, poor maintenance, etc. if one complains at the front desk, a shrug is the usual answer or “ no, there is no manager on duty to speak with you.” Yet, prices go up & the CEO is worried about the bottom line. People are going to be less inclined to travel if the trend continues.
  5. Possibly problems with Boeing jets being grounded is causing upheaval for several airlines? Hoping some issues resolved before bigger impact on travel overall!
  6. We didn’t see much point in going thru customs paperwork and getting off the ship just for a few hours. We decided leisurely final packing, dinner and relaxing aboard was more our cup of tea. No regrets.
  7. On our 7 night Alaskan cruise, formal nights were on our two sea days
  8. I am also ocd about checking & re-checking flights and travel summary (print out every update) & we’ve only cruised once in last 20 years😝 We did re-book a flight on our September cruise that saved us $300, but I had to contact EZAir a few weeks later to get the credit back on our credit card.
  9. $11 sounds like an additional entree in MDR (steak, lobster etc), but if you never ate in MDR, that doesn't make sense either. Stick with it. $11 isn't a lot, but it's the principle of the thing. If 3,000 passengers each had an $11 charge they didn't challenge, that's a $33,000 bonus for the cruise line.
  10. Just curious for future cruises (we were on Discovery recently) regarding Emerald deck DW. Is there a lot of noise coming up from Promenade? Is that why it is considered obstructed?
  11. On Discovery, changing was in the treatment room, in private. I saw a few people come and go in their stateroom provided robe, but I prefer to wear my casual clothes in public spaces. Just a tip-this was my first spa experience on a cruise ship and was surprised by the service charge added onto the stated cost of the massage. I had been given a gift “discount” for the massage, but it was pretty much wiped out by the service charge. While I enjoyed the massage, it was way overpriced. Probably would not do it again. I can get two or three at home for the price.
  12. Mine was never hot enough upon delivery and the paper cups tasted…. like cardboard. Recommend having your own cup to transfer to. Was happier with IC coffee and dining room.
  13. Our prime rib night was the last night, and it was delicious!
  14. I thought Skagway was especially beautiful. We had a great experience there, sometimes just the two of us and some with new table mates. One evening we dined in Ketchikan. Still nice, but more subtle, understated decor. It did not feel as intimate, so I think it depends on atmosphere you're looking for and location in proximity to your stateroom.
