  1. About as good as could be expected given the way this all started. I'm still trying to wrap my head around how much of clusterf that port must have been today.
  2. I don't understand the question. 😀
  3. It should be automatic, not just a consideration. But humans be human. However, even with insurance, it's still a freaking curve ball nobody wants to see.
  4. No problem. As the only outdoor smoking area, and arguably the fastest bar service on the Joy, I spent my share of time at Spice. 🙃
  5. They were talking about deck 19. Spice is on deck 17.
  6. Not really. I don't care how expensive the whiskey, bourbon, Scotch, etc. may be -- it's getting a splash of Coke. That's the way I take it, and I can taste the difference between the good and bad, because it's always a consistent comparison.
  7. That's the cruise line category RCI is in, or are you saying they rate the same as the other three?
  8. Just understand it for what it is -- free wine bought by the truckload.
  9. Yeah, you've said that twice now in the last 5 posts. Yet, you've never given us concrete, real-world, or personal anecdote examples as to why you're saying it.
  10. Is that one where you go to the Panama Canal, but not actually through it?
  11. You don't need to make two identical threads 4 hours apart. If someone can answer your question, they will. Patience.
  12. Probably because it's their choice, unlike a paying passenger that has to put up with it. If you have a peanut allergy, don't work on peanut farm.
  13. The Joy's OL is huge. Last September (early) we never had a problem. The ship was not full, and although it's possible (late Sept. with the leaves turning), I just can't imagine a packed ship anytime in September. And, as I think someone else said, it takes a while before many find out it's even there. If they ever do.
  14. For a drinker, the quickest bars were SpiceH20 and the Observation Lounge. There were always 2 bartenders at Spice and sometimes 3 in the OL. Unless it's packed, or there aren't many servers, we found ordering from a server was nearly as fast as ordering at the bar in the OL. Maltings Whiskey Bar is usually fast, with less people, but we found it kind of dark and dreary, with no windows, compared to the Encore's whiskey bar. This was last September, so YMMV. Otherwise, completely agree with Pitzel's remarks.
  15. Actually, they're called "mga puti ng itlog", but I get your point. I would guess many or most Filipinos just call them egg whites. The post was intended to be lighthearted.
  16. Heh. That was a month ago. I can't remember what I had for breakfast this morning.
  17. I apologize. A scene just popped in my head where you are meticulously ordering a 6-ingredient drink to an overworked Filipino trainee who's never heard the term "egg-white". Meanwhile, there are 10 other people waiting to order a simple rum and Coke. It just made me giggle a bit. And of course, a $10 bill included with your key card will undoubtedly speed up the process.
  18. I hope you're also planning to wait. 😄
  19. Just curious, does anyone else think the Icon is ugly as sin? It's like the Epic on steroids.
  20. You may be correct. It was a long time ago. I recall moving up to the 1200 (called 1.2?) and thinking I was in heaven.
  21. Family Balcony, not Haven, but the Prima balconies are very nice. If they paid for a 3rd and 4th in the cabin, I suppose they could hit the $16k on an 11-day. Regardless, if they had just chosen starboard instead of port, they would have been under Palomar, which would have been a completely different experience.
  22. I'll let others explain why a "seasoned cruiser" would never intentionally end up in this cabin.
  23. No Prima fan here, but this does not compute.
