  1. The lack of communication by the Captain is the problem.
  2. Unfortunate it didn’t work for you. Maybe if it had you would have been happy with it.
  3. @WoodrowstI wouldn’t mind an app to have my ticket contract travel arrangements, use as a door key, card for drinks, ID etc., have the activities, excursions, port arrival departs, menus…. of course it would probably be handy for exercise music or with earbuds for lounging at the pool…I presently don’t carry my phone around the ship but do check it when in room for messages and emails. An app would be handy. Just a modern convenience IMO.
  4. I have found being on older ships and newer ships I prefer the new. I think that will be the only difficult part for you. If the itinerary is right that’s the most important thing. You may also get some more fellow passenger perspectives on Vista as many O cruisers are past passengers and are happy to share their insights.
  5. That’s interesting didn’t realize Oceania has been around forever.
  6. There is no self serve. There are barriers in front of the food stations.
  7. Once again…Riviera after Cozumel 2021. Once again I am saying the new ticket contract I received for Vista end of the year cruise has omitted the wine and says they may hold what is purchased in port. Was just wondering if this is another change coming with Simply More.
  8. @Flatbush FlyerMy cheeses were pulled aside and wiped down…so much for agricultural. This was a inside the US flight not international where it would have been confiscated. You really can’t speak for alcohol being confiscated or not as I have had my rum taken and held till the end of my cruise. My general point is what the ticket contract says now and the possibility that things may be changing.
  9. @LHT28Have been on Regatta to Alaska 2022 and Riviera to Caribbean 2021. FYI I always seem to get stopped with cheese and whatnot by TSA too.
  10. @Flatbush FlyerI also noticed the six bottles of wine missing from the new contract. Maybe SimplyMore is changing alcohol policy too. I am not an O executive nor am I on a current cruise to read currents. Don’t shoot the messenger just think the original persons question should be answered by O ticket/contract. Imagine the disappointment if their alcohol gets confiscated.
  11. @Flatbush FlyerNot wrong it’s in the ticket contract.
  12. @Basor yes they held rum from a Caribbean cruise. Now I bring the bubble wraps for transporting liquor home.
  13. Well just had to be clear that you have all been what we call lucky.
  14. The ticket contract has several pages of Covid rules and regulations. You are not to board if sick, report it if you are sick, isolate, they may ask you to get off ship.
  15. “Carrier reserves the right to prohibit and retain all liquor brought aboard the ship. All liquor purchased ashore must remain in bond until disembarkation” #16 alcohol policy ticket/contract.
  16. @Jakes47 The ticket contract clearly states Covid rules/protocols. It is not fun to get sick on vacation but leaving your cabin spreads the illness.
  17. You are allowed six bottles of wine, not hard liquor. They will hold liquor purchased in port. Yes some people do manage to get around the rules… but read the ticket contract so if they do hold it you are not disappointed.
  18. @Harters Personally I wish they would still require testing, masks, etc. people don’t realize how dangerous Covid still is. I wish you well hang in there!
  19. They don’t care about the reviews or many things would have been changed by now..i.e. poor communication to passengers. Have had conversations with staff regarding the reviews and they smile and give you the what do you think look. Posting on CC or TripAdvisor reviews is good for letting others know of your experience (the good and bad) or if a serious matter send a letter to Miami where maybe you will get a response but doubtful.
  20. So sorry for your ruined trip! DW and I experienced the same IMO selfish inconsiderate behavior on two O cruises. Fortunately we did as you did masks, washing hands, use of sani gels etc. and did not get infected…most surprising were sick people coughing and showing up in dining rooms and cafe when they could have room service! We also had people roll eyes, laugh or made comments at our precautions. Infuriating as it protects them as well as us. Thank you for doing the right thing all around. Best wishes for a speedy recovery!
  21. I guess I’m just tired of “lower your expectations.” I have been on many cruises, several O. Of course it’s an O forum (reasonable built in biased) but lately the defending of missed ports is a bit much and bad reviews from past O travelers is a bit concerning especially for the Vista. Someone mentioned there are paid promoters and clearly pro travel agents on this forum but I feel I shouldn’t need to lower my expectations. I know no trip is perfect but I also know you get what you pay for and it is very disappointing to pay and not get what you paid for. Clearly O is not what it used to be.
  22. I will never understand the reason why people want to go into a nice dinner venue in jeans, tees, caps…especially on vacation where they may be dressed casual all day. To me it shows a lack of etiquette and is inappropriate.
  23. My wife and I also get dressed for dinner not formal but dressy. We also have upgraded to the Premium as we enjoy cocktails at different times. Like Hambagahle when on vacation we like to relax and have a drink if we please during the cruise. Alaska is spectacular enjoy your trip!
