  1. @DurangoWino Thank you for taking the time to review while on your cruise. Sounds great! Will be on Vista in a few weeks and your post has me and DW even more excited.
  2. @chineplate If you remove the automatic gratitudes the people who work hard behind the scenes are affected. Even in the terrace or many restaurant servers you may see do not get tips like the room Stewart’s or butlers may. There is a ship full of people behind the scenes. I personally consider gratuities part of my trip expenses and alllow for them. In a perfect world these people would get salaries where these gratuities would not be depended upon.
  3. @MEFIowa It is not a matter of “rewarding” the highest level cabins as people pay top dollar for those benefits. It is no different than paying more for first class flying or buying a high end car. Once you board the ship (any category of cabin) you may approach the restaurants and many people say they often get earlier reservations. Also not all people in higher level cabins eat early. Some people just prefer late dining.
  4. @Gracie115 My wife and I usually dress nicely for dinner. I will wear a jacket without tie and my wife wears dresses or dress pants with lovely blouses. We have not seen gowns or tuxedos on any of our O cruises as there are no formal evenings. We enjoy seeing others dressed up as well especially in the specialty dining areas. Wear what you want it’s better to be overdressed than underdressed IMO.
  5. To me that is an unfair comparison using a 300 person sailing yacht to a 1200 person cruise ship.
  6. @edgeethanks for your input…the noise or lack of sound proofing seems to be a common complaint. I will bring melatonin and earplugs for sure! I was once on a cruise where the next cabin played very loud music most of the day with their balcony door open. I didn’t complain but someone did as they were moved (or kicked off?) much to my relief.
  7. @IamtheseaIm sorry I am having trouble linking. I go to TripAdvisor and put in Oceania Cruises Vista. (Under reviews) https://www.tripadvisor.comcruise-review-d24948
  8. Reviews are on cruise critic. There are also some terrible ones on TripAdvisor as well. I try to take with a grain of salt but to only have 40 reviews is kind of strange too. I thank everyone for responding
  9. You get the invoice but not the ticket contract. After a deposit is paid you get the contract. You have to search to find it on the cruise website otherwise. A poster suggested the TA looks out for their interests…do they? Just as many cruisers believe the cruise lines look out for their (passengers) interests. Read the ticket contract and tell me whose interests are looked out for. TA’s get paid from the cruise line. When you use a TA you are putting a third party into the transaction. I would just suggest some online searches regarding legal cases. A little research goes a long way. All I am saying is be informed. Safe travels everyone.
  10. TA’s are great until they’re not. For example the cruises in the Middle East and the changes with people expecting FCC and refunds etc. when it clearly states in their ticket contracts not going to happen. How many TA’s were able to get refunds or FCC’s? Like I said rarely do people get their ticket contract or are advised of all the clauses and dangers before TA’s book…especially newbie consumers. As far as not caring about the legal ramifications that is your choice. I prefer to be aware of them. Getting a good financial deal can be had without TA’s. The maritime legal profession is booming and many TA’s get insurance to cover being sued by clients…Just food for thought.
  11. @ak1004 I don’t use TA’s as they are a third party you put in the transaction. Many legal implications…How many TA’s give clients a copy of the ticket contract before booking the cruise for them? Do they disclose their financial relationship with the cruise line? Do they advise them of dangers and maritime laws? Considering the ticket contract states that the cruise line is not responsible if the TA doesn’t give it to you it is a relationship ripe with conflicts of interests. Purchasing a house is completely different then booking a cruise. There are agency disclosures required for real estate agents and many consumer protections and state laws in those transactions.
  12. Port intensive cruises are exhausting. Glad you are relaxing on the ship. Thank you for your reviews (have been following since the planning). I think it is very nice of people to take the time to post while on their trips.
  13. Thank you! Very reassuring to hear. So in need of a vacation! The humidity is terrible you just learn to live inside with AC!🥵
  14. Reading Vista reviews is concerning there aren’t many and most are not great. I was wondering if there is a way to know when staff change overs occur? Booked on Vista for New Years and wonder if the new ship staff has changed?
  15. I believe cruise mapper has a port schedule otherwise I would contact O directly.
  16. If you keep scrolling there to page 3 there is a vista ship post with lots of pictures by mvpinboyton of their cruise.
  17. Turkey is next to Syria which is attacking American forces. The powers that be are protecting thee…
  18. Why didn’t the Toscana restaurant stop them (dress code ignored) at the door? When I go to the trouble of planning, packing and carrying appropriate clothing that the cruise line specifically requests the least they can do is enforce compliance.
  19. Even picking a good location cabin holds no guarantee. Noisy neighbors and staff parking food tray trolleys outside your cabin can really disturb your day never mind sleep. these are especially disturbing when you politely request change. I travel with ear plugs and hope for the best. YouTube has videos galore on rude, disgusting and shocking passenger behaviors… Amusing except for when it happens to you.
  20. @Iamthesea The SM covers dining venues only. Sounds like you would be happier with upgrading at $30 pp to the Prestige where you can order drinks anytime anywhere. No both people do not have to purchase it. It’s a matter of math as there is an auto tip added to each drink so if you have one or two the upgrade is probably worth it. Enjoy your cruise.
  21. @mauibabesDo you know what time they stop the music in Horizons? The bandstand looks right over these suites.
  22. You can look up the scheduled times for cooking classes most are before lunch or before dinner on sea days. I was wondering if the suites on the starboard side are noisy as some are right under Horizons. Can you hear Horizons music at night? Is the convention room busy?
  23. @tobique33040 I encourage reading the ticket contract for each cruise line you consider.
