  1. There may be better ways now to handle some claims. We have the platinum Insurance through Princess (AON). Two weeks ago had to cancel a cruise that we would have gone on this week . Hubby is ill. All I wanted was FCC. My travel agent said she would take care of it for us (I was pretty distraught with Hubby's being sick). She called Princess who said she had to go through AON even though all we want is FCC. On line she was asked to select either cash refund or FCC. She selected FCC. Then she spoke to someone live at AON. They told her for FCC they would refer it back to Princess to apply our FCC. That was done and four days later it was in my account. Day after I cancelled a portion was also a credit on my credit card. So now cancel for any reason seems to be an easier process. And I am so thankful I have a travel agent that knew how to handle things smoothly for me.Probably could have asked for a refund but would probably be waiting forever for the money and I couldn't deal with paperwork right now.
  2. The four ladies in Sabatinis are incredible. We ate there one evening but also were lucky to be able to do the breakfasts every day (Suite benefit). They were the best wait staff. (we were on the 20 day cruise before yours).Food was pretty incredible as well.
  3. On a few occasions (and very recently two weeks ago) we had to use Cancel for Any reason on the Princess insurance. So easy. Just wanted FCC instead of being refunded. Husband ill right now and was advised not to cruise (would have been this week). So easy. Our Travel consultant went on line and cancelled, told Insurance we only wanted FCC. Aon said didn't even need to open a claim. AON notified Princess to just give us the FCC(we have the Platinum policy). FCC was in our account in four days and Princess credited our credit card for port taxes and other fees. Another time we had a house flood right before a cruise, same efficient handling. So I am a big fan of Princess insurance. The medical part is fine too. Our Medical at home does reimburse outside the country so all works out.
  4. I do extra tip room service . Not necessary I know but I appreciate the delivery.I bring lots of $1's with us. Just give $2.00 for our breakfast .
  5. When our bid was accepted for a full suite, immediately even before we paid the new cabin number was showing in my personalizer. We accepted the bid . However, later I had my travel agent check to see if I could get another location, she was able to switch cabins for us.
  6. We were on the same voyage. The thermostat for the A/C in our cabin didn't work. No matter which way you turned it (hot, cold), it just blew freezing air. When the repair guy came, he said there were no replacement thermostats on board and they would get them when the ship went back to San Diego. So ours was just manually set to a cool that couldn't be adjusted. We were in a suite and the problem was in the living room area. over the bed, the thermostat controlling that worked. The ship in general was pretty cold. So I feel for the Poster once he got sick, had a very chilly cabin too. My husband came home with pneumonia from a cruise several months ago. He was sicker than he had ever been in his life. Took 3 weeks to recover and another 3 weeks to get some strength back. Hope TravelDan you start feeling better.Good to hear that Medical on board was good experience.Glad you weren't off loaded in one of the ports. We saw that happen . Please come back and let us know how long it takes to get all the Medical information from Princess.
  7. We were also on the same cruise as you and had a aft facing suite on Caribe (starboard side). Never had hot water issue. Our next door neighbor had flushing issue. Guess we were extremely lucky. Loved the cruise and the very empty ship.We are so spoiled with the suite life and the aft facing experience. Will be hard to go back to a balcony cabin or even a mini suite. The crew was amazing , great service.
  8. I have never gotten a confirmation email that it has been received. We fax ours. We check in our personalizer and it will appear there under credits. Lately it appears within a couple of days.
  9. MY appl. shows us a blue (we are Elite). After several calls and 6 more cruises taken, still shows me as Blue member. However, when my Medallions come, they are in the right black color. On website it is correct. I can't purchase internet at a discount on the Appl. Most of the time we do Princess plus so not a problem.
  10. My other bookings are fine too. I had booked a couple of cruises with my travel agent a few days before and they are working.I thought at first it was something that the Future Cruise Person did wrong. My travel agent said the booking is fine and shows up in Polar. Glad they have almost two years to figure out this glitch.
  11. I booked the Sun Princess while on the Diamond Princess. Although I have my booking information, can't open the booking in my personalizer, It says Error code.On Medallion appl, it isn't showing and when I put in booking number says it doesn;t exist. The Future Cruise person on board said there is an issue for bookings startingDec 14th and it is an IT problem. I will not call Princess and be on hold for hours. Will cancel before doing that. Funny that others that booked the same ship have had no problem. Only some of us.
  12. We ate in Pacific Moon dining room (deck 6 midship). There were 6 of us. had the same table and time the whole cruise. We could have eaten in Club class dining room , tried it a couple of times but since with friends preferred eating with them instead.
  13. We were in C755, aft facing . No plumbing issues at all but our neighbor in C757 had a no flushing toilet for a few hours. Library (someone asked) is fully stocked with great brand new books. Lots of mysteries.Library is on deck 5 midship.
  14. There will be approx 300 children on the next cruise. That is a low figure for Christmas cruise. We are loving our aft suite. We bid up from a Mini suite . Totally spoiled. Although food is subjective , we are finding it very good. We haven't been going to Club class dining because we have friends in regular dining room. We did try it to see if it is worth it and maybe if the ship were fully occupied it would be an asset. Breakfast in Sabatinis however (for suite guests) has been wonderful.
  15. Yes it is easy if you know what needs to be done. For every new cruise, it does pick up old information from previous information except the credit card information. The application is getting better with each update.I always put my credit card in and add my husband to my card. Last few cruises his being added disappears once on board and I have to go to passenger services to add it. What I like on board using my cell phone is the ability to check our bill without having to go to passenger services. We are currently on the diamond Princess and the machines are also back to check your bill.
  16. The last time we were on the Diamond was 2012. It was for 35 days and we loved the ship. We were traveling with 4 other couples.Part of cruising is who you are with and the fun times experienced with our friends. So even with the negative comments , I know our cruise coming up will be lots of fun.We are going to be traveling with three other couples (one of whom we met for the first time on the Diamond in 2012 and have been cruising with them ever since.). Since cruising started again, we have been on 6 cruises. yes, we noticed cutbacks on food , but we aren't foodies so not a big deal for us. Elite benefits have been cut but that isn't why we cruise Princess . Won't be doing a live from the ship but if the internet allows , will come back here and comment.Last few cruises I had trouble posting on Cruise Critic.
  17. First thing he will say is How much did it cost? Many years ago I booked a cruise and it had a huge cabin(an old ocean liner). When he walked in he asked me if he was dying. He had just had a physical and the Dr. was a good friend of mine. He was only in his 30's then.
  18. We are boarding the ship on Sunday. Also have a suite and ours is aft facing on Caribe deck. Hope not the same one that the person that gave us that very thorough review has. Didn't know that the suites had names so don't know what ours is called.toilet issues or lack of hot water (or cold) will be a big deal for us. Our cruise is 20 days and better be in working order. This is a big deal as it is a surprise for my husband (thinks we are in a mini suite which is still a splurge) and our wedding anniversary. Also he had a big birthday this year and we hadn't celebrated it yet.
  19. The people on the cruise Nov 20(today) are posting. Go to their roll call and read the last couple of pages.
  20. bid on a aft suite . Did it on a Thursday night and by next morning it was accepted. I had a mini suite and bid the minimum bid for the Aft facing Suite. Will experience the Suite Life next week.
  21. anyone know how far up on starboard side aft the cigarette smoke can be smelled? We just moved from Emerald deck aft to Caribe starboard aft because we heard about the crew smoking area.I am sure the wind can be a factor too. Anyone know?
  22. Bring your own test kits along with you. Since the cruise line doesn't test after the isolation, I would do my own testing to make sure I am really over it. Also if there seems to be lots of coughing happening on the ship , but I have no symptoms, I will test ourselves to make sure we aren't asymptomatic. We have had all the shots including the latest one. My husband got really sick a couple of days after getting home from a Princess ship last April. Several people from our Roll Call reported the same thing. Tested negative for Covid but whatever he got became pneumonia. He was very sick for three weeks and still weak for another three weeks. He wore a mask everywhere except when eating in dining room.
  23. Thanks for the recommendation . I got it and am almost finished reading the well written book. We, as well as the rest of the world were following along your quarantine journey as it happened. With Gay's daily schedule of talking to News people, I am surprised we never saw her even once on TV while it happened. We watched daily the British couple who was on live every day talking about their experience. I believe it was on Utube and possible Facebook.Gay just mentioned once in her book there was a British couple. Of course she never had any contact with them. I would havethought she would later made contact and included them somewhere . Or possibly others , with a bit of how they survived it.Still, enjoyed her book and the experience you and the other two couples all survived it.
  24. Does HAL have guest lecturers on their longer cruises with lots of Sea Days? We are going to be on a 17 day Panama Canal cruise in the spring. We like Trivia but want more than that on Sea days.
  25. Thank you for all your responses. When I try to book it on the Appl. it says I need to check back closer to sailing date. We will be on the Diamond Princess end of this month. Since it will be the second sailing since the shutdown, don't know how organized the staff on the ship will be . Right now we still can't even select arrival times.Ship will be sailing from San Diego, another first for Princess in many years. The Port handles everything differently than San Pedro as well. I don't even want to call Princess on any items because our answers will be different every time we call. My Appl. shows my husband and I as Blue card instead of Elite. have been trying to fix this for many months. Started out correct, then mine was blue, then both of us. We have been Elite members since 2011. Princess has us correct on their web site and the Medallions have been coming to us Elite. However, with each booking we remain first time cruisers on the Medallion.
