OK Tribe looking for fellow Tribe members input/two cents worth.

You all know I am retired, of the "older work" generation.  What I am looking for is input from those still working as to resume etiquette these days.  I admit I am not up to speed on the new generation that is why I am asking.

When I see someone post on their resume "my life does not revolve around work"....yes that is an actual post.  Then every other job posting states "career break"....meaning not working......

Back in my hay day those were red flags.

Today I saw an article on the internet that folks are looking for $79k to accept a job....sigh

Career break??   Unbelievable!!  I'm with you, those statements are an absolute red flag!  I guess I don't understand today's up and coming generation either...and I am younger than you (in my mid-50s).  I think I would laugh out loud if I saw that on a resume of something I was interviewing!  Truly makes me worry about our future here in the greatest country in the world.

JinxyB is scouting for crazy stuff on board the NCL Joy, and just sent me a picture probably not appropriate for Cruise Critic... For those of you who follow the Sid's Ay Tee El FB page, you can find it over there...

In other news: we're having Chili's for Free Lunch Friday... C'mon, sing that song! "Chili's baby back ribs, Chili's baby back ribs"...

@sid_9169 I am trying to catch up on this (am still on pg 675), but I just requested to join the "other" page noted above...please accept?!?  My name is Tracy...

  4. @MeganGC1983 I have been looking forward to "cruising with you" on Celebrity!  We have sailed them a couple of times and love love love the product.  Have an awesome cruise and can't wait to "board with you".  PS--FLL is not pretty right now...runways and taxi areas underwater.  Yesterday was brutal here.  Hope all is resolved by tomorrow morning!

  5. @wbinghamFWIW, we sailed on the Mera in January...1st time on MSC.  We had many issues with their website, IT, customer service before hand.  We were a group of 7.  We ALL decided MSC would be a one and done because of it.  Then we sailed.  We truly enjoyed the cruise, the service (bar service was a little spotty and wonky) was good, staff very friendly and the food was much better than reported on these MSC boards.  We are actually considering longer cruises now with MSC. Hope same goes for you.

  6. I was on the Mera cruise right before the OP's.  It was our first time on MSC and we were with a group of 7.  We were quite apprehensive based on reviews but we were delighted with the cruise.  Was it perfect, no.  The lines for drinks at the bars was terrible, very slow service with little to no bar servers in most lounges.  The Pub and the Sky lounge, however,  service was excellent.  We found those too late, which is typical on a short 3 nighter...lol. We found the food in the MDR was good to very good, which differs from many reports on CC.  Had no issue with the buffet for lunch.  Overall, the staff was very friendly.  Our cabin steward was not great but not awful either.  We agree that a short cruise  is not the best way to judge a line.  We enjoyed it enough to consider a longer sailing with MSC!
